I’m so grateful to have found this forum to get inspired (lol) and excited for an upcoming trip to Egypt.
I was in Morocco (Marrakech and Tangier) last January and sharing one of my encounters here! Have a few other experiences (one of which was getting scammed by a local i met on Grinder), and might share some of them when i have time within the week.

The choice of words can so confuse that a conversation goes heywire. These 60,000 people breaching the border in Ceuta are not refugees. Too often this word is used loosely in discourse. Refugees are people fleeing demonstrable threats to life and limb (e.g. from conflict or natural disasters) or persecution in their home countries. These young men (and they were mostly young men) were simply hoping to rush into the EU, in violation of border laws, for economic reasons. Several of them spoke to the media, and they themselves have openly said this was their motive. Any sympathy needs to be calibrated against this reality rather than be dialled up by the misuse of the word 'refugee'.
That they were fleeing nothing can be seen from the fact that over 48,000 of them so far have peacefully returned to Morocco, albeit under heavy security pressure.
The videos also show that many of them are not even Moroccan but Subsaharan. Reporters have pointed out that in the past, the Moroccan government has aided or encouraged border storming for political purposes whenever they were unhappy with Spain or the EU, e.g. in pursuit of their (Morocco's) imperialistic ambitions over Western Sahara or over their feud with Algeria. Whether this instance had any government involvement, nobody can yet say. This reminds me of Belarus using migrants to put pressure on Poland and the EU a few years back.
Members here of more leftwing persuasion should be careful of what they wish for. Misplaced sympathy for economic border-violators and the loose border control that results will lead to a local population developing a sense that their own security and social balance are under threat. No use arguing if this is empirically true, for feelings are powerful factors when it comes to voting. Once people get the feeling that their own government has lost control of their country's borders, there is a much greater likelihood of voting for rightwing parties, whose agenda on many other issues, e.g. LGBT rights, social safety net, may be contrary to leftwing ideals. I am sure I don't have to list examples of how often this has happened in recent history. In short, misplaced sympathy is a big, big own goal.

I visited the Villa again last week

I arrived about 6 pm on a Wednesday. It is my second time in in the place but I never hired there before as I wasn’t well on the last occasion (review of visit above).
Just to note if you have never been - there is no sign for the place, just a little plaque saying "Basement flat No.32" at the top of the stairs.

This maybe my last update for my Bangkok trip as I am writing this post the night before my morning flight to Philippines via Singapore. Booked a connecting flight just to transit and explore Singapore's Sentosa Island via their airports free Singapore tour.
 
Monday
I slept the full morning as my full body was still aching due to Sunday's Kanchanaburi hike. By 15:40hrs I started to walk towards the good old time-tested Arena for a massage for my sore body and a little fun afters.
As I reached Silom Plaza just before 16:00hrs, I saw their usual boy lookout up on the 3rd floor and as soon he saw me, a potential customer, waived me to come up. Immediately out of the lift I was escorted by the same boy inside the shop.
Inside were around 15 guys of various sizes. I already crossed out the few smaller built guys and shortlisted 4 guys I liked. Tuesday 
I'm wasted and had a slight hangover when I woke up by 0800hrs. I made my self a coffee and went back to sleep hahaha
I woke up by 11:00hrs and started packing my luggage. I also went out and bought more sweets like dried fruit packs and spicy snacks to bring back for my friends in Dubai.
By 20:00hrs, I sent a LINE message to one of the Supervisors of Tawan to check if my preferred muscle boy K will come tonight. I got a confirmation after 5mins and asked if I will go to the bar or he can send my muscle boy to my hotel room. I chose the latter and ask if K can come by 21:00hrs. I don't think it is useful to speak of gay tourism to Thailand as a generalised, homogenous thing. By that I mean we need to distinguish the different market segments and (catering to them) the different business segments. Each of these segments have/had a waxing and waning cycle non-synchronous with the others and for their own reasons, e.g. the economics, politics or demographics of that segment at that point in time.
Restricting my comments to Pattaya,
I have never been a frequent visitor to Pattaya, but I have visited irregularly since the early 1990s. That decade I think I only visited the Boyztown bars, and stayed mostly at Le Cafe Royale Hotel (did I get the name right?). I can't directly answer @bkkmfj2648's question about the distribution of patrons among these 3 distinct areas in the years 2000 to 2010, but I think it would be misleading to think of a single market that moved from one area to another depending on their relative popularity. 
When I visited, just by looking at the offerings in the Sunee Plaza bars, one could surmise that Boyztown and Sunnee served different market segments. Most Sunnee bars, for most of the period, had barely-legal skinny fem twinks. For a short while, some bars went too far (more on this below), but as @a-447 said, the clampdowns came before long. 
My main memory of that period, 2000 to maybe 2010, was that the inside bars of Sunee had so-so crowds, but the open-front bars (very similar to format of bars in Jomtien Complex today) always had plenty of customers sitting for hours, with skinny fem wait staff flirting among the customers, almost all of whom were silver-haired caucasians with pot bellies. The customers seemed to know each other. So, to answer @bkkmfj2648's question to a degree, Sunee Plaza was pulling in the residents or semi-residents of Pattaya (snowbirds who only came during the northern winter) who had a fancy for skinny fem twinks, but for whom Sunee was also a community space.
I would hasten to add that in my opinion, @a-447 described an extreme case, though I myself had a similar experience in one bar. I too was horrified. Let me segue a bit here and describe my experience:
I was sitting in bar (can't remember which one now) and the mamasan noticed that I wasn't showing any interest in the boys (they were too skinny and too fem!), but s/he came to the wrong conclusion as to why I wasn't showing any interest. S/he then said, we have more boys, they not dancing now, they at the back. Follow me, I show you. I stupidly followed without digesting what s/he might be saying. Down a short corridor, we came to a curtained doorway. S/he pulled back the curtain to show me a filthy, untidy room with four obviously teenage boys inside. I was outa there like lightning.
While the raids severely damaged the reputation of the precinct and made it risky for customers to be seen there, I doubt that it was the primary factor for its decline. I think the primary factor was the demographic receding of the type of customer Sunnee appealed to. In short, many of them died. They were not sufficiently replaced by new residents with similar tastes in boys. The new residents that came were less likely to be looking for skinny fem twinks.
That taste is an artefact of time and place. It's a generation (for want of a better term, I call it the rice queen generation) that paralleled the heterosexual market for mail-order brides: men who bought into the stereotype of Asians being more effeminate and submissive compared to non-Asian partners. By the turn of the century, a great cultural shift away from that stereotype was gradually happening in the background, and Sunnee's allure was being left behind by that cultural shift.
My guess is that Jomtien Complex added to Sunnee's decline. It offered a safer set of bars without the odium of underage activity. It was also less fem and twinky (but not by much). I think Jomtien Complex sort of inherited Sunnee Plaza's market segment, but a more updated, less rice-queen kind.
On the other hand, Boyztown always appealed to a completely separate market, though there was some overlap. Boyztown had more straight-looking boys, in fact actual straight boys. While it had open-front bars that also attracted people sitting for hours people-watching, my sense was that (no less due to the density of hotels in the area) Boyztown attracted the short-term visitors more than the residents.
But "short-term" is a relative thing. A short-term visitor from Europe or America might stay for 3 weeks. A short-term visitor from Asia, barely a week -- which has implications.
Another great shift was happening that began to sound the death knell for Boyztown: the rise of the Asian tourist to Thailand and the decline of the white tourist. The bars absolutely failed to adapt to serving the Asian tourist and continued to rely on the shrinking white market. But it's a chicken and egg question too, because with an ever-shorter visit duration, the Asian tourist was much less likely to venture out of Bangkok (unless they were of the packaged tour kind), and so unless they showed up, why would the bars start catering to them?
But some do show up, as can be seen from the large numbers of screaming Chinese girls in formerly-gay BoyzBoyzBoyz.
And then still another great shift: the Asian tourist is relatively younger and is more than happy with the dance clubs of Soi 2 in Bangkok for nightlife. They are not great fans of the gogo bars (maybe also they see these bars as poor value for money, which is true, actually), which explains why the gogo bars of Soi Twilight began the decline, and now in Patpong, they're often in a sorry state. Boyztown's gogo bars are just the more tattered/shuttered version of this general decline of gogo bars.

I see that the Midnight Hour (Bangkok Eyes) website has started updating its maps of nightlife areas.

For March 2026, it has updated the maps for  Patpong 1, Patpong 2, and Silom 4 ( which it calls Soi Katoey). They show all the adult entertainment venues, both gay and straight. So not that much of interest for us on Patpong 1 - just Big Boy Bar and Chaichana massage.

A few more places of course in Patpong 2, and then all the venues shown  for Silom 4 are gay, I think.

Might be an interesting peruse if you are planning a trip to Bangkok and have not been there in a while.

You are more likely to get useful help if you tell us a bit about yourself.
For instance, most people will assume that you're an older gay guy planning to use the commercial gay scene. But you could be in your twenties or thirties hoping for free encounters. You may be familiar with the Bangkok commercial scene and want just a few hints as to how Pattaya differs. Or you may be a newbie to Thailand and know nothing.
Anyway, here are a few basics. I will presume that you are an older guy looking to hire. I will talk about the bar areas rather than meeting guys off the apps, which others have mentioned.
There are three gay bar areas in Pattaya: Boyztown, Jomtien Complex, and Sunee Plaza.
Jomtien Complex, a few miles south of Pattaya city centre, is the biggest “gay zone”, but it does not have go-go bars. Boyztown and Sunee Plaza are in Pattaya city centre, and are smaller areas (Sunee Plaza is almost dead at this stage). Boyztown and Sunee Plaza have go-go bars, while Jomtien Complex specialises in host bars.
Boyztown
I won't talk about individual bars. Probably the three most popular ones at the moment are Classic Boys, X-Boys, and Toyboys. If you do a Google Map search for any of them, it will bring you to Boyztown, where they are clustered together. A search for those names in the search bar of this website will bring up reports.
In general, the go-go bars in Boyztown charge 250–300 baht for a drink. You basically watch the guys dancing on a stage in their underwear. If you see a boy you like on the stage (identified by a number), you tell the mamasan (bar manager on the floor), who will bring him over to sit with you. Since many boys are from neighboring countries like Myanmar, Laos, or Cambodia, and may not speak English well, the mamasan often acts as translator to discuss what the boy is willing to do ("top/bottom/both") and the price to hire them for Short Time (S/T- an hour or two) or Long Time (L/T - usually overnight).
However, having the mamasan involved will often raise the expected price, as the mamasan sometimes gets a commission for suggesting a higher price. If the guy speaks any reasonable level of English at all, I would be inclined to keep the mamasan out of it.
Boyztown Costs
If you bring the guy out of the bar, you will have to pay a fee to the bar, called the “off fee" (similar to the “bar fine” in straight establishments, if you are familiar with them). My understanding is that the current off fee in most Boyztown places is around 500 baht.
You will also have to pay the guy separately for his time. Compensation levels can be a contentious issue on this board, but my understanding is the current expected fee for S/T in Boyztown is 1500–2000 baht. Particularly handsome or muscular guys may expect more. Of course, if you are hiring a guy for L/T that would have a higher expectation as well.
Sunee Plaza
Sunee Plaza is a bit similar, although they have a tradition of the guys being open to being able to be “touched up”, even to the point of being made to cum, at your seat in exchange for a tip of a few hundred baht, which isn't really a thing in the other places. As this area is pretty moribund at the moment, I would leave it as your last visit. It does tend to be cheaper for than Boyztown for off fees and the payment expectations of the guys, though. The main bars in Sunee Plaza are Winner Bar (recently reported closed?) and Nice Boys Bar. Google Maps will help you find them, but be aware that at this stage, with the decline of gay establishments in the vicinity, visiting them will be more like making a trek to individual bars than being part of a "gay area."
Jomtien Complex
Jomtien Complex has a different model. The bars there are “host” bars rather than go-go bars – they are focused on bars where you can sit and drink, and fully clothed hosts will sit with you and chat in return for you buying them a drink. It has the biggest selection of bars - you really feel like you are in a “gay zone" in Jomtien Complex. Most of the bars have an outside area, which gives a nice ambience to the streets. You can sit outside and people-watch or sit inside and watch the shows. The shows are not go-go shows, but rather entertainment shows dominated by drag acts, although some shows, such as at M Bar, can get quite raunchy.
As with Boyztown, the guys are available to take off from the bar. I believe the current off fee in the complex is a bit cheaper than Boyztown, around 300 baht. The expectations of the guys for S/T or L/T may be a bit lower as well, perhaps more so 1200 or 1500 rather than 2000 for S/T, for example.
I see that @jimmie50  provided to a link to a map of the bars in Jomtien in an above post,  which is very useful.
Massage
Another aspect you could usefully search for on this board is gay massage places. Many of them are basically fronts for “sexy massage”, which can range from a hand job at the end of the massage to full sex.

I have attended both the Pattaya City and also Jomtien Complex (Supertown) Gay Pride events in year 2024.
There were 2 distinct events on 2 different weekends in 2024.
On Saturday 8 June 2024 there was a parade held in Jomtien on Thappraya Road, ending at the Dongtan gay beach area.  It's name was Pattaya Community Pride 2024 and it was sponsored by SWING and the Jomtien Supertown Complex.  After the parade there were festivities and dancing held within the Jomtien Complex later in the evening.  The area at the Dongtan Beach was used for speeches and awards and prizes.
On Saturday 22 June 2024 there was a parade held over in Pattaya City on Beach Road, ending at the Central Festival mall.  It's name was Pattaya International Pride Festival 2024 and it was sponsored by PATTANA (the Thai conglomerate that owns the Central shopping malls throughout Thailand).  The parade started at the Central Marina shopping mall over on Second Road (near Terminal 21) and then at the Dolphin Circle it turns left towards Beach Road and terminates at Central Festival.
I enjoyed both events, but I preferred the Jomtien parade and related festivities because they were more grass roots organized, whereas, the Pattaya City parade is much more commercial, as it is sponsored by PATTANA.  Also, I was disheartened that Boyztown was absent in the Pattaya City parade activities - which disappointed me, as Boyztown has been an integral part of the Pattaya City gay community since forever.
It seems that the parade route for the Pattaya City 2026 pride parade will be the same as it was in year 2024:

You can sit outside and people-watch or sit inside and watch the shows. The shows are not go-go shows, but rather entertainment shows dominated by drag acts, although some shows, such as at M Bar, can get quite raunchy.

In Jomtien, between the Agate and Zing Hotels, there is the Thai Blind Massage Institute, signposted as the "TBMI".
It offers legit massage by blind people who have been trained rigorously in the art of Thai massage.
I have never used it myself (i find proper Thai massage a bit sore) , but it has very good reviews on Trip Adviser.
