Pinnacleore Posted May 22 Posted May 22 Hi All, I’m planning a trip to Pattaya this November. I’ve been to Thailand but never Pattaya. I’ll be traveling solo but would love to connect with travelers who are familiar with the MB scene there and how it all works. Any suggestions? Also, I tend to like my boys on the younger (18+) side. Any suggestions for specific bars to visit? Quote

Pinnacleore Posted May 22 Author Posted May 22 It seems like Jomtien is a nicer and maybe more mellow place to stay? Are there go go bars with cute Thai twinks in Jomtien? Or better to stay near Boyztown? Is Sunee now down the drain? Quote

Pattaya is more urban 1 hour ago, vinapu said: Are there go go bars with cute Thai twinks in Jomtien? The proper correct answer - as how our forum members define what is a go go bar - the answer is NO Having said that, please take a look at this thread where we discussed hybrid type of gogo bars that exist in Jomtien: vinapu 1 Quote
Travellerdave Posted May 23 Posted May 23 Good information from Vinapu (the essentials) and bkkmfj2648. There is fast transport between the two areas Boystown and the Jomtien Complex/Supertown. Easy to visit both in the same evening. I now prefer to base myself in the latter which is in my opinion, all considered, the premier gay resort location in the Pattaya area. vinapu, bkkmfj2648, Ruthrieston and 1 other 4 Quote
Londoner Posted May 23 Posted May 23 Agreed. One extra benefit, sometimes forgotten, is the beachfront of Jomtien in the evenings. Lots of Thai families, a couple of good restaurants (we like Sandbanks), a relaxed, almost Mediterranean atmosphere.... a pleasant after- dinner walk. Watch the sunset there. bkkmfj2648, Travellerdave and Ruthrieston 3 Quote
Londoner Posted May 23 Posted May 23 I should add another positive about the beachfront. Instead of Pattaya' s ladies of the night, punters and (particularly now) PC Plod clearing them off, Jomtien's beachfront, at least near the gay area, also has the spectacle of the women's dance/fitness "performances". These occasionally include older male falangs. Bravely and (sorry!) hilariously. After all, "white men can't dance". At least, I can't. However, a couple of months ago I saw a white guy in his forties or so whose dancing was far better than most of the women and girls. "Well-done, Sir" , as my father used to say. If you want a different sort of dancing, three hundred yards away are the Sunee dancers performing in the soi. So cute. Our restaurant is "Sandbar", not "Sandbanks", which is the millionaires' settlement on the Dorset coast. A monument, it is alleged, to Trumpian vulgarity and conspicuous wealth. bkkmfj2648 and Ruthrieston 2 Quote

I prefer to stay in Jomtien and visit Boyztown occasionally. It is really easy and cheap to travel between Jomtien and Boyztown by Bolt taxis or songthaews (10 baht shared taxi trucks). Sunee is a shadow of its former self but I've had enjoyable visits there in the last year. vinapu, floridarob and Ruthrieston 3 Quote

I'm sure it put out a new sign but I can find no evidence of it. Quote

ichigo Posted May 24 Posted May 24 Having stayed in both Pattaya and Jomtien on my previous trip, I found that I much preferred to stay in Jomtien. Whilst the go-go bars are in Pattaya, it is an easy commute from Jomtien, and I find Jomtien much more relaxed. Spending the day at the gay beach in Jomtien was pleasant (with lovely eye candy beach attendants), however Pattaya doesn't have something similar. My next trip I will probably base myself on Jomtien and travel to Pattaya when required. Quote
vinapu Posted May 24 Posted May 24 On my last trip in Jun I decided to solve usual Pattaya / Jomtien dilemma but staying in Zing Hotel half way between to, across from Pratmnak Hill. ( it's not Zing Resort we know from Jomtien Complex , nor Z by Zing hotel down Jomtien beach) I liked it so much that I ordered myself to do the same when I will be back in Pattaya in Jan 2027, chiefly because that way it's easier to avoid being accosted by boys at either Boyztown or Complex. Is there something wrong with me? If I'm out on my own, even if it's just crossing the road to 711, I love being accosted by a cute guy....a chat, a smile, a goodbye and I feel fifty years younger. floridarob Posted May 24 Posted May 24 On my last trip to Pattaya I split my stay, half in Ambiance and half at The Venue. There is a Thai hole in the wall restaurant, that isn't on Google Maps even, and it has AMAZING food and is ridiculously cheap....one of the main reasons I like the BT area these days, lol Plus that is when I go to those bars and Sunnee during that week. Then Jomtien, has the beach and the complex for the 2nd week, almost like 2 different trips/experiences in one. llz and vinapu 2 Quote
