The only other member I am aware of is catawampus cat who recently passed on about 3 months ago. No doubt there are others. TMax and bkkmfj2648 1 1 Quote
PeterRS Posted December 31, 2025 Posted December 31, 2025 I suspect that the majority of readers based in or visiting Thailand are in the older age group and naturally advancing age starts to play a role in contributions. We are not all spring chickens like @Olddaddy . Some of those who are retired may have friends who are not members of this Board and consequently we do not hear when they pass. Fortunately some new younger posters have become active. Hopefully more will. I have written before that it is, I think, somewhat extraordinary that many gay expats living in Thailand do not know of the existence of this Board. None of my gay friends had heard about it until I mentioned it and none has since bothered even to read it. In these days of social media, I sometimes even wonder if chat rooms like this have a future. What do others think? Ruthrieston 1 Quote

What do others I don't think they will have a future I know of 2 otter specific gay Thailand boards ,one will go when the owner leaves the earth , probably within 5 years and the others may fade out eventually The younger generation moving in don't seem to be interested in writing on forums anymore Quote

Popular Post jimmie50 Posted December 31, 2025 Popular Post Posted December 31, 2025 2 hours ago, PeterRS said: What do others think? I am a long time member of another gay forum going back probably 20+years. I was initially referred to that forum by my best friend. I am not nearly as active on that forum, mostly just reading general posts of interest, but it is certainly not as welcoming and friendly as this forum. There is a lot of passive/aggressive behavior and even outright aggressiveness on that forum, so I rarely post any comments. Since I joined that forum so many years ago, it has gone through a number of leadership/owner changes. I believe some members of this forum are also members there, so may know what I am talking about. What is interesting to me about that forum is there was an unexpected and unfortunate death of the owner due to COVID. Many members of that forum thought it was basically the end of the site, but several members banded together who had expertise and experience in computers, others offered financial support, and under new ownership and a slightly different leadership structure the site continues and thrives. I am much more active on this forum and often find myself checking it a couple of times each day looking forward to reading the posts. As I already mentioned, members here are much more positive, encouraging, and welcoming. I would hope if something ever happened to ownership of this site that something similar would transpire and we would continue in some way. It does seem that the majority of active participants are older...myself included. unicorn, bkkmfj2648, TMax and 3 others 6 Quote

I suspect he's talking about Company of Men. I used to be an active contributor to it. However, it was run by a cabal of people who would suspend the privileges of those who didn't agree with them. They would use as an excuse this rule which came to be (after the death of the late owner) that anyone who appeared to stray off the topic of the original posting would be temporarily suspended. Of course, tangents from the original posts are inevitable (for example, this tangent), and even desirable (makes for interesting discussions). Naturally, those rules were selectively enforced against those with whom they disagreed. They also took issue when science was used to refute their ideas... 😉 jimmie50 and vinapu 2 Quote

PeterRS Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago I hope this is correct but I think there were something like six chat rooms at one time - and that does not include several bitchboards which suddenly appeared and then thankfully just as suddenly disappeared. As far as an owner dying of covid, was this not the owner of another site who died en route back to North America after becoming very ill in Pattaya? That I think was pre-covid. Ruthrieston 1 Quote

I think you are thinking of the very big guy who looked a lot like actor John Goodman (at that time anyway) I believe his name was Ned or Neil or something similar, I believe he passed on route to his home country I remember a "bitch board" called Baht Stop many years ago , I'm not sure but I recall the owner(s) died in a car accident , I could be wrong Quote
