Did some forum members pass?

I know many of you do message each other privately

It just dawned on me today I haven't seen "Reader" for sometime and "kokapelli 2"

Is there others who have passed?

kokapelli "reacted" to one of the photos I posted just the other day.

kokopelli is still around and somewhat active  but not quite as active as previously. The only other member I am aware of is catawampus cat who recently passed on about 3 months ago. No doubt there are others.

I suspect that the majority of readers based in or visiting Thailand are in the older age group and naturally advancing age starts to play a role in contributions. We are not all spring chickens like @Olddaddy :shok:. Some of those who are retired may have friends who are not members of this Board and consequently we do not hear when they pass. Fortunately some new younger posters have become active. Hopefully more will.

I have written before that it is, I think, somewhat extraordinary that many gay expats living in Thailand do not know of the existence of this Board. None of my gay friends had heard about it until I mentioned it and none has since bothered even to read it. In these days of social media, I sometimes even wonder if chat rooms like this have a future. What do others think?

I don't think they will have a future

I know of 2 otter specific  gay Thailand boards ,one will go when the owner leaves the earth , probably within 5 years and the others may fade out eventually

The younger generation moving in don't seem to be interested in writing on forums anymore

I suspect he's talking about Company of Men. I used to be an active contributor to it. However, it was run by a cabal of people who would suspend the privileges of those who didn't agree with them. They would use as an excuse this rule which came to be (after the death of the late owner) that anyone who appeared to stray off the topic of the original posting would be temporarily suspended. Of course, tangents from the original posts are inevitable (for example, this tangent), and even desirable (makes for interesting discussions). Naturally, those rules were selectively enforced against those with whom they disagreed.  They also took issue when science was used to refute their ideas... 😉

and handsome, don't forget handsome !

of course...that goes without saying.  Plus, this forum has the top notch, star stamp collector.  No other forum could possibly compare.

I hope this is correct but I think there were something like six chat rooms at one time - and that does not include several bitchboards which suddenly appeared and then thankfully just as suddenly disappeared. As far as an owner dying of covid, was this not the owner of another site who died en route back to North America after becoming very ill in Pattaya? That I think was pre-covid.

I think you are thinking of the very big guy who looked a lot like actor John Goodman (at that time anyway)

I believe his name was Ned or Neil or something similar, I believe he passed on route to his home country

I remember a "bitch board" called Baht Stop many years ago , I'm not sure but I recall the owner(s) died in a car accident , I could be wrong
