Getting ready - gathering up to date recommendations

It's been a while.

I was supposed to travel elsewhere but plans changed. So I'll be next month for a week in Bangkok!

Would love to hear about:

1. Your goto hotel. I'm looking for a nice hotel close to bars and clubs. Previously stayed in le Meridien, W, So sofitel. Aiming for a lower standard but located closer to action..

2. Any current advice on good places for getting my hands on muscle men. Pay and non pay.

Will report :)

Wow !!! Welcome back !

1/ Think about Raya or Baan Silom , if you ask me. A lot of people are praising new Ibis Styles and Quarter Silom. There's Nishitetsu right beside Soi 4 . Siam Heritage on Surwong is also around the corner from Patpong and I can certify that old policy of prohibiting guests is abandoned.

2/ Usual suspects Jupiter , Moonlight and Tawan still apply . Arena is there , try Jey Spa or Glam , they share some boys. Prince and new History of Massage near National Stadium   may be of your interest.

Atlas, clone of Tawan may re-open in soi 6 as some rumors have it but so far nobody confirmed it did.

I believe there is also a newly opened "Gay hostel "🏳️‍🌈 although I'm not sure of the exact location but I intend checking it out next trip

Last night around 9 there was no sign of it I could see.

I stayed at the Ibis Styles Silom in October and had a great experience.  Convenient location, reasonable price, good breakfast buffet, friendly and helpful staff.  I would recommend it, and if I was returning to Bangkok for a short visit would definitely stay there again.  Rooms are a little on the small side, and for longer stays there isn't much in the way of storage for personal belongings.

three comments from me

1/ breakfast is indeed great and can be also purchased for people not staying in hotel  , I don't recall price but it was definitely good deal although nothing beats breakfast at Foodland at 84 before 9 am

2/ saying their rooms are on the small side is akin to saying ' an ant is animal on a small side"

3/ all depends of how much stuff one carries , not length of trip. In June  I visited three European countries and Thailand in one go , all with carry on only and no,  I did not wear the same shirt or underwear 2 days in row

thank you very much . I suspect from beginning that all that rumor of Atlas relocating to soi 6 was just face saving exercise

Definitely not for a room size queen.

you forgot to add " and report my findings promptly here"

I would have to be a bit cautious nowadays,a lot of "sensitive" people on here, strangely they are mostly in our generation

You'd be surprised at what personal messages I get where someone has wrote to me to say

" I was shocked to read your post where you wrote that you got fucked in your big ass , I feel others too could be traumatised"😳

who told you old people are slow?

........

rooms at Ibis Styles are small indeed but well organized for quite a comfortable stay but definitely NOT for people with lot of luggage as it may not be enough room in the room , so to speak

As there are 30 days in June, so with 2 changes, would have been 15 days in a row!

Reminds me of a story I heard at a presentation back at school given by the famous Scottish mountaineer Hamish McInnes on first asscent of The Prow of Mount Roraima, a table top mountain that borders Venezuela, Brazil and Guyana back in 1973. It was the inspiration for Arthur Conan Doyle's The Lost World.

The location extremely remote requiring a couple of weeks of trekking through virgin rain forest, swamps, crossing rivers and food shortages due to wet weather and no helicopter dropped supplies.

Anyway, Hamish explained the art of packing a minimal wardrobe, as weight for climbing equipment was more important. Day one, underwear worn as normal, day two; inside out, day three; normal but reversed, day four; inside out and reversed, day five; commando.

No dinosaurs were found at the top!

Funny, of all things, underwear would probably be the lightest items of clothing...

And probably the easiest to wash and dry daily if need be. And if you are ok with going commando, why would you need to bring one at all lol

Agree. Unless breakfast is included in my stay, I never buy hotel breakfast as I prefer Foodland, or Grab delivery.
