I wouldn't refer to him as ringleader. Just the organizer. Some may also remember our "Fine Dining Society". He organized that too. His screen name was Maple. We started dwindling out the very day Micheal (Crabby) and Thomas left Corner Bar. It just wasn't the same anymore and the new owners let the place rapidly go downhill until it failed and went out of business, which did not take very long We also disliked the fact that the day they took over they fired every boy who worked there, some for years. They had been promised they would not lose their jobs. We did not appreciate that they had been flat out lied to. We decided to meet elsewhere, but it just wasn't the same and we began losing interest. Eventually, less than a year later as I recall, it just fizzled out. What became of our regulars? None of us were spring chickens. Some have passed on. Some have returned to their home countries. Some, like me, lost interest in the bars. Some seem to have just vanished from the face of the earth. As far as I know, now I am the last one from the original group still left. vinapu Posted Tuesday at 03:08 AM Posted Tuesday at 03:08 AM I never was big fan of Jupiter , even if I have habit to visit that bar on my first night of every trip. Post-covid I started to have better luck there and must say my last 5 offs from there were good to very good. For Short Time I was never (so far) asked more then 3000, if that much. my last two offs from there were actually Long Time. One guy wanted whopping 10000 , either sensing I need to see him badly or , as somebody suggested above, that was quote in hope to put me off. Anyways , since I wanted to see him I agreed and paid up. Was it worth ? Not really, while I can say only good things about body and performance, I was disappointed when after all was sealed he told me tonight he can only stay till 6 am. Such antics are things putting me off more or less permanently. Another one wanted 7000 and that was money very well spent, no time issues , quite opposite, he was staying till I told him I'm hungry and time to got eat something. He was not there long and I saw him and offed from other places subsequently . Disinterested , sober look of boys is management mandated - customers are supposed not to be pressed for engagement is logic behind that policy, however misguided. as Olddady said, when comes to pricing , only we can personally decide if whatever is quoted it worth for us. jamiebee, pong2, emiel1981 and 1 other 4 Quote

That is one of the reasons I have lost interest in the bars, which now are host bars in Jomtien Complex. It is not much fun for me when the bar boys are far more interested in staring into their phones than they are interacting with customers. And you are right. That would not be the case without management permitting it. In the old days - which I call "the golden years" when it was mostly Sunee Plaza go-go bars (my favorite was Eros), the boys constantly made an effort to interact with customers and get taken off. The exception was there were also many dancers throughout the various bars, when on stage, rather than overtly trying to attract customers would instead be staring at themselves in the mirrors. And for many, their idea of dancing was standing almost still and just doing "the one-knee shuffle" But in those days there were plenty of boys who were really trying to get customers. And some were so popular that you actually had to make a reservation the day before for the boy of your choice. If you didn't show up within 20 minutes of the arranged time, now the boy was free to go with another customer. And if you arrived late the boy was usually already gone. Being accustomed to the way things used to be, speaking only for myself, the bars have long since lost their magic and appeal. I miss it, but am very grateful for having been here for those times when they existed. floridarob, Olddaddy, pong2 and 2 others 4 1 Quote

I actually prefer this. Once the boy is selected and comes down for a drink, smiles are usually out and you can tell who is enthused about being offed. Those that aren’t are sent back. Works for me. Worst off I’ve ever had from Jupiter was a new boy who smiled from the stage, later on I discovered he grinned at all and sundry with no discrimination. Didn’t exactly make me feel special. The Jupiter Cambodian guy I used to off only asked me for 3000 for short time. I haven't seen him working at Jupiter for some time. Lean guy with lithe body and handsome face that can grace magazine cover. I gave him a Labubu toy once. Quote

Talking about walking sticks I noticed a lot of gay farangs on Jomtien complex carrying walking sticks and even noticed one man and extremely overweight, looked in his 50's on one of this push walkers , you push the Walker and has a small seat in which I believe this ( fat bastard) wouldn't be able to sit on I immediately went over to him and introduced myself , he looked happy and told me he was from the UK and only 52! I immediately told him he looks 72 and might be good idea to lose the Walker I was contemplating on taking it with me forcing him to walk !!🚶♂️🚶♂️ He had the audacity to ask me to leave him alone ,I immediately accused him of being racist Quote

I was hoping that @Keithambrose would pick up on the famous nervous shock case of Alcock v Chief Constable of South Yorkshire Police (1991) that arose from the Hillsborough disaster where the House of Lords ruled that relatives watching the events on television or hearing about them did not satisfy the criteria for being secondary victims. Torts was my favourite subject and @Keithambrose has a pithy way of walking us down memory lane with his vast legal knowledge. Sorry I didn't respond to this earlier. Tort was a compulsory paper for final exams. We went to Keble to be taught Tort by Peter North, subsequently Professor North. During the term he was in a car accident, I think, but anyway he brought a claim for nervous shock, so we had a first hand example! We were taught, in his absence, by an Australian, Dyson Heydon, a Rhodes scholar, subsequently a judge on the High Court of Australia, their Supreme Court. In a nice piece of symmetry, many years later, he was one of the judges in a case I ran, which went to the High Court, in Canberra, so I could remind him! Not nervous shock, the case involved implied, or ostensible authority, luckily we won! To bore you further, in another piece of symmetry, we considered using my Tutor at Worcester College, Professor Francis Reynolds, as an expert witness, as he was the author of the leading book on the topic.
