I advise you to pick one that you like and is available during the days you wanna stay there, and ask to the host whether or not you can receive visitors, making clear that they would not stay overnight.

And, make sure they are clear about the process for guests. Is there a "registration" process, if there is one, what is it?

I've stayed at a place in SP that allowed guests, but security was fort knox level tight with a 1 to 2 security guards outside the door. A face ID scanner at the front door, then a passcode for the door to the lobby, AND a front desk person. You were SECURE BUT, they allowed guests no problem, lol. As long as you're okay with 2-3 people seeing your hoeing ways. 🤣

In Bogota, their guest policies are all over the place. "Yes you can have guests but you must submit their photo and ID to the Airbnb host 24 hours before arrival, then they register at the front desk, and you pay $8, if they stay past 11pm it's $60!" or "sure, you can have people over, no problem. Just make sure no one sleeps over!" 

So, get details about what the policy is, not just if guests are allowed.

Last year, I stayed at an Airbnb in the Pinheiros neighborhood that was similar in everything but the security guards. I have to admit, the face scanner was the coolest part of my stay.

I had a friend (not GP) over and he needed to register as well but they didn't take his photo, which sucks because I talked up so much lol

Yeah, my SP place was secure and I actually just booked a repeat stay for December. BUT, the host already sent me the entrance details for a booking 6-months away, which is crazy. The real kicker is that the apartment's front door uses a passcode and it's the same passcode I used last December! Internal safety is a joke if the door's passcode never ever changes and will be available in 6 month's time. I'm now considering alternative options. I loved my stay and loved the building, but don't feel comfortable with the apartment's code being the same when this building has 100 units and all it takes is one neighbor to find it. 

Another part of me feels paranoid but the unit was brand new last year, now it's been some time. I am going to see what other options I have because that's a miss in my book.

Earlier this month, in a pivotal case, the Superior Tribunal de Justiça (STJ) decided that rental of residential property in condominium buildings by Airbnb and other short-term / seasonal rentals now must require the authorization of 2/3 of the building’s condominium owners.

While I enjoy Airbnb flexibility, though prefer a hotel room, I am glad some places are finally fighting back to create balance between the short term rental market and regular rental/ownership market. I hope they and other tourist spots can find a healthy balance. 

These were the airbnb's I stayed at. The 1st one was the most recent. It was okay for the time i stayed there good location if your focus is to go to the beach alot. The 1st place is across the street from a gay club. That several hot boys gogo dance at. One of which @iambarcellos on instagram who has a very alluring smile and tight ass. But anyway I digress. The 1st one is located a block away from the second one. So same neighborhood. The one hosted by Home Stay was nice. It had a good enough kitchen and bathroom. Why I said that is a kitchen without a oven is never good. Atleast have an airfryer if you dont have an oven. The bathroom didnt have a tub. The other thing was even though the airbnb looks like the picture. It did not have enough seating area and the seats it did have seemed alittle flimsy. But for a place that I could bring back every boy from the beach, sauna, street, or club. Was perfect never got push back at anytime of day and night. The biggest draw back is people above this appartment had dogs. I tune dogs out because I have two Huskies. IF you know you know. So a small dog barking was like nothing. But it can be annoying when watching tv late afternoon or night. The other Airbnb Hosted by Maicon was better because it was roomier in the living area. In both cases I was able to have people over.

Posting in here to keep up and check what places are good. There are so many Airbnbs in Rio. that it is hard to know what is good and what is not. I have never been in an Airbnb as solo travel never appealed to me; I can see it for two or more people. I want to find a good, reliable Airbnb for when the hotel is not an option.

I snagged one of my favorite hotels at a great price for my November trip. I was surprised by how many places were sold out or nearly double the price, especially the ones I prefer. Turns out, it’s Rio Gay Pride week starting November 15. Proclamation of the Republic Day (November 15), and Black Consciousness Day (November 20) That BCD sounds delicious. i will make sure to be all conscious with as many black garotos as i can 😛 

Which hotel/s would you recommend in Rio? Ok bringing guys back day and night?

Yes both places have doormen 24 hours a day. The security did not hassle me and in fact at both places they helped me with different problems. Basic information type of stuff like order food for me since I don't have pix account yet. 

Oh and the night club across the street with the gogoboys is Pink Flamingo.

I have a German friend that just stayed over that way, maybe same apt or it might've been above Pink Flamingo, something like that.

Let me tell you without question. The 1st Airbnb I got two years ago after the 1st week soon as they heard the apartment number. Just sent the boys up. Same with the second place. It was like I was ordering pizza and getting it hot delivered straight to the door. Especially after some had been there for the 3rd time.

Next year as I like to plan trips as far in advance as I can. I have found a Airbnb in Lapa Hosted by this guy Carlos Eduardo. It will be my 1st time staying there. I wanted to be closer to 117. From this Airbnb its about a 15 minute walk. But lets be real I doubt I will be walking. So a quick uber there and back with or without a garato lol. But anyway the guy said I can have guest over.
