Many Filipinos work in nursing or hospitality 👨‍⚕️many work two jobs 

I don't think I have met a Filipino without a job yet , unlike Thais 

I would say in Australia at least 50% of the nursing staff in aged care homes are Filipino both male & female

Interesting observation and worthy of discussion. I think you may be on to something. 

There are guys I've met in Thailand who would definitely be boyfriend material.

However, the 3 problems we all face are the language barrier - which is possible to overcome, the age difference - and all that entails- and the fact that the guy is straight - which means he is forever unavailable.

I'm sure there are examples of older guys finding younger partners who are gay and who truly love them. No money is ever handed out, either to the guy or his family.

But I believe these cases are few and far between. 

I couldn't imagine wanting to have sex with someone my age, so how on earth could a fit, healthy, handsome  guy enjoy sex with someone old enough to be his grandfather? 

Sex for guys is a necessity, not a want. So for me, it's a bit like buying food. When I'm hungry I buy food at a restaurant. That fulfills my need. When I get hungry again, I just go out and buy more food. And usually the more luxurious food items cost more and I'm willing to pay for that. I never order something I would consider unpalatable.

Had this conversation last night with a board member I hung out with.  Having a real boyfriend can be a nuisance when you're on a trip. I really like this Japanese guy who tapped me on Grindr.  At my age (50s) I'm super flattered to have a smart, hot teacher in his 20s showing interest. And I wouldn't slap the label boyfriend on it. It's pretty much just physical attraction, but we go out on dates and are all cuddly, holding hands. He has his own job ...and I certainly don't contribute to his family 

That's up to him , he pays me his share every fortnight of his payday  for expenses, food , internet  , gym etc 

If you have to pay a guy to stay with you it's not real boyfriend, you can pretend it's an allowance, you can pretend it's this n that but in the end your paying someone to stay with you !

And many guys in Pattaya do it ...maybe loneliness...I don't know !

There is a lot of "needy" people around and Pattaya is not good for a lonely & needy person unless you are willing to pay 

Can pretend that person cares for you I guess?

Some farang owned bars are quite successful because they attract the "needy" & lonely clientele 

The funniest or should I say saddest thing I heard last week was in a straight farang bar where the farang was telling a story and he was only on his 30's visiting Thailand on his 4th trip where he called the Thai GF his "missus" as in Mrs 

He said he had been "dating " the "missus" for 3 years in a long term relationship 

He had got some kind of infection from a mosquito bite and ended up at Pattaya Bangkok hospital 

His "Missus " came to visit him and later demanded 1000 baht for the visit and motorcycle taxi 😆and ...said her friend she brought with her needed to eat too 😁

Yes I can live alone and I am currently content.

But, with dementia running rampant in my family - I fear that living alone will not be a good idea IF dementia decides to pay me a visit.

So, I probably need to give up my independence just in case? This is my current dilemma.

If you really really wanted a boyfriend you would go back to the Philippines and you know it yourself you would find a much better caring guy than Thailand..
