  1. The global gay rights movement was yesterday celebrating the passage of a bill in the Mexico City legislature legalising gay marriage, making the huge and overwhelmingly Catholic megalopolis the first territory anywhere in Latin America to put same-sex couples on the same standing as heterosexuals. The law, which is likely to be signed soon by the city's increasingly high-profile leftist Mayor, Marcelo Ebrard, was passed by a vote of 39 votes to 20 in the city assembly on Monday to loud chants from supporters in the galleries of "Yes, We could. Yes, we could" – words that will become "We do" for some couples early in the new year. It was a victory not just for gay right…

Well made movie. Some of us who live/hide in impersonal buisness hotels and frequent flyer programs might see a little bit of ourselves in this film. I have seen it twice now and enjoyed it more the second time.

Casual sex isn't a bad thing at least not for young adults, according to a new study. University of Minnesota researchers asked more than 1,300 people age 18 to 24 about their most recent sexual encounters, their self-esteem and their emotional well-being and found the results startling. Only about one-fifth said their last encounter was casual, but their overall emotional status was no different than the four-fifths who said they were in a committed relationship. "We were so surprised," said Marla Eisenberg, an assistant professor at the university's School of Public Health. "The conventional wisdom is that casual sex, 'friends with benefits,' and hooking up is hurt…

UCLA researchers have successfully modified blood stem cells to specifically attack HIV. Apparently folks have theorized about this approach for years but only recently has the technology been available to make it something practical to implement. We can only hope that this won't turn out to be yet another dead end line of research. Note that, if it works out, this approach could be adapted to other persistant viruses. UCLA research

I have been told not to give up that I'll get better at sex the more I try. Here is a lady who got the same message: A South Korean woman is celebrating after passing the written exam for a driving licence - on her 950th attempt. After four years of trying, 68-year-old Cha Sa-soon finally managed to secure the 60 out of 100 points needed to pass the test. The grandmother has spent more than 5m won ($4,200, £2,600) on application fees for the test. Now Mrs Cha, who lives in Jeonju, 130 miles (210km) south of Seoul, must pass the practical test to get on the road. 'Don't give up' According to the Korean Driver's Licence Agency, the 50-minute written test consists of…

This will be the third year I have hosted the weekend celebration for fellow posters. If any of you fellow posters have the time/ability to come visit that weekend, it should be a fun time. Not only is it our gay pride weekend with a parade and two day festival, but we also have several strip clubs to see the local sites as well. Two are totally nude and one that is g-string/undies..Plus many of the bars have strippers on various nites as well. In the past two years, we have gotten together for trips to Dicks Cabaret, g…

A Brief History of Toilets By Claire Suddath, Time Magazine In case you didn't know (and honestly, why would you?), Nov. 19 is World Toilet Day — an event hosted by the World Toilet Organization to raise awareness for the 2.5 billion people around the world who live without proper sanitation. But even for those of us with access to modern plumbing, how often do we really think about our toilets? From outhouses to water closets — even former Merrill Lynch CEO John Thain's $35,000 "commode on legs" (technically a table, not a toilet) — humans have been devising creative ways to go to the bathroom since, well, since the first person crossed his legs with an urgent need to …
