Yesterday was another day of protests in Brazil. Even though the president has been thoroughly investigated and found innocent of any corruption or wrong doing, there are still thousands of angry people calling for her impeachment. While it is true that Brazil has a lot of economic problems, the problems were not caused by the president. It is a case of needing to blame someone - whoever is in charge - that person must be blamed and driven out of office. Here is an article from today's Rio Times - it gives more details about the demonstrations: http://riotimesonline.com/brazil-news/rio-politics/protesters-take-to-the-streets-in-brazil-against-rousseff/?utm_source=…

Hi guys! I will be heading down to Cuba again for the month of October. Half of the trip I will be solo and free to have some fun. I doubt I will be able to update while I am down there as internet is difficult, but I have already made some great contacts on planet romeo so far. A lot of the guys on there are just looking for fun instead of trade. Nonetheless I hope to give a full report sometime after the trip is over. Also as a bonus I will be in Mexico City for a few days on either end and I hope to have some fun there as well. If anyone has any tips I would be happy to have them. Cheers!

Going to be my 1st time in Rio and it seems the guide was posted back in 2010 so are there any updates one should be aware of? Also is there a place where you can check out pictures of the sauna guys so I can figure out which one might offer guys both me and my husband would like as we both have different tastes. He prefers men with a medium skin complexion, masculine features, hairless, and they need to be a bottom. I prefer guys with a lighter complexion, a little more on the muscular side, chest and facial hair makes me go ga ga, and im versatile so im good with whatever position the other guy prefers to play.

For those of you who have flown between cities which one do you think is the best? I am looking at GOL based on ease of luggage fee/number of pieces rules. Anyone have anything positive or negative to say about them?

117 is announcing free suítes this coming Saturday 08/15. According to a friend that lives in Brazil full time it never happened before any other day besides tuesdays much less during the weekend. If anyone had any doubt Brazil is in a deep recession, Monik just made it official!

Airfare is the lowest it has been in years. The exchange rate is the best it has been in about a decade. The economy issues in Brazil have more boys looking for sauna work. And I looked on Airbnb, and there are quite a few nice looking apartments in Copacabana for around $50 USD per night. It is almost a no-brainer. I will need to renew my visa, so that adds another $250 or so to the total cost.. My birthday is Nov 15, so I was thinking about wrapping a trip around that date...But no one I know wants to go or is able to go...

  8. I think this is piece from the NY Times is quite informative of the problems endemic to the nation. Whether it is the new railroad in the north, the Belo Monte dam in Para or the new refinery complex in Itaborai, just to the northeast of Niteroi, problems here continue to appear. Less than a year to go to the Olympics and this city is still a mess. I'll be amazed if the new museum by Calatrava, the aquarium, line 4 of the Metro, parts of the the new VLT tram system as well as all of the Olympic installations are completed correctly and not like what happened for the PanAm games in 2007. http://www.nytimes.com/2015/08/09/business/international/effects-of-petrobras-scanda…

  10. The new Sao Paulo monorail is available for limited times during the day. The cost is R$3.50 (about one U.S. dollar per ticket). Check out the below cited article all the excuses given for the delays: http://riotimesonline.com/brazil-news/rio-real-estate/brazil-launches-first-monorail-in-sao-paulo-after-delays/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+TheRioTimes+%28The+Rio+Times%29

  12. The below cited article shows more reasons why the Brazilian Real continues to decline against the US dollar (and some other currencies). Just since the first of this year and only through May of this year, 1,280 businesses have closed. Those closures have to have a devastating effect on Brazil's economy as other cities in Brazil report similar closures of establishments. This also explains why there are so many more garotos in the saunas and in other areas where hustlers are found. Here is today's article: http://riotimesonline.com/brazil-news/rio-real-estate/over-1000-shops-have-closed-in-rio-de-janeiro-already-this-year/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=emai…

I have an app on my phone for conversions of money, weight, etc. and as of right now, 1$ USD = $3.53 Reias. So a programma that costs R$100 is $28.34 USD. Not many places where you can hire a beautiful boy/man for so little.

Although I have been to Rio many times, for the past ten years or so, I generally arrived in Brazil initially at Sao Paulo and then traveled to Rio from the domestic airport in Sao Paulo (Congonhas) to the domestic airport in Rio (Santos Dumont). I scheduled an unexpected trip to Brazil soon but I will be going to GIG rather than Sao Paulo. Years ago (more than ten years), at GIG, I used to take a taxi after buying a taxi voucher from one of the frantic girls waiving forms to arriving passengers at GIG. Is this still an option? As an alternative to a taxi from one of the frantic girls described above, after exiting the secure area at GIG, arriving passengers used to …

Junior who owns Pointe 202 sauna and who used to own the sauna Estacao in Copa is opening a new rent boy sauna in Botofogo also called Estacao this Friday 5/8. The location is the site of a gay sauna that did not have rentboys. The previous reviews all faulted the small rooms, small video room and small locker area..let's hope not everything stays small! It looks to be a good 8 block or more walk from the Metro station, so looks like it is a Taxi ride, but Botofogo is the next metro stop after Copacabana so quick ride if you are in Copa or Ipanema. I have a friend in Rio right now and he said he is going to the opening so we will have some updated info on it this weeke…

I was on the phone tonight with Acyr the owner of Meo Mundo and he told me he and his partner bought Pointe 202 from Junior who just opened the new smaller sauna in Botofogo. They take over Wednesday. They will also keep Meo Mundo. So Rio will be back up to 4 rentboy saunas. He said there will be no changes to Pointe in the near future except for new paint. He expects to attract a number of new working guys to Pointe. Hopefully we will get a report on the new sauna in Botofugo?

  17. I was wondering if the husky voiced lady still made boarding announcements at GIG. There is a bit of history regarding the lady's position at GIG. Prior to the World Cup last year, she was temporarily "fired" because the new owners at GIG did not want to continue using her voice to announce flights. After much negotiating, she is back at work at GIG (according to the news article report). Check out this report that discusses history of the lady who announces flights at GIG: http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/world/the-breathy-voice-of-rios-airport-returns-to-lift-passengers-spirits/article18579297/ -

All, I'm planning on using an old iPhone 4s with a SIM card while in Brazil. Couple of questions: 1) As the 4s doesn't have 4g has anyone had any trouble with 3G phones in Brazil? 2) Is it easy to find the micro SIM cards that the 4s uses?

Today I got a message from one of the Rio sauna guys saying he had seen video/pics of himself on this site and was very upset. Someone who is a member of this site showed it to him. This guy is not a tech savvy guy and was shown it by one of our members...So going forward I will not post anything on here about individual guys, either photos or videos or contact info.

I lost touch with him years ago but he is still on my mind often. LOL Does anyone know if he still works?

  24. I knew this was going to happen. I heard that the saunas in Rio were filled to capacity with Americans showering with garotos. Take a look at this article concerning the critical water shortage in Rio: http://riotimesonline.com/brazil-news/rio-politics/rio-de-janeiros-reservoirs-critically-low-again/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+TheRioTimes+%28The+Rio+Times%29 P.S. Just kidding about the reason for the shortage - we need humor in this forum.

All, I would like to get some feedback on flying between 2 domestic cities. In looking at the TAM and Azul websites the prices seem reasonable but the luggage fees (for a second bag) seem ridiculous. Am I missing something? I am planning on packing a personal item (briefcase-like), a carry-on (which seems to be too big/heavy for a Brazilian carry-on) and a checked bag for 12 days visiting Brazil. What do others do? I hope I am making sense in my inquiry. Thanks
