The South forum is a bit slow lately - therefore, it is a good time to reminisce about Rio's airport and the sounds one hears while waiting for a departing flight. http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=8976813 http://www.npr.org/player/v2/mediaPlayer.html?action=1&t=1&islist=false&id=8976813&m=8976814 Those who have been to Rio by air have heard this voice over and over again. -

Over the past decade or so, I have visited Sao Paulo's sauna Lagoa hundreds of times. Until tonight, I never saw Lagoa so busy and filled with so many absolutely gorgeous guys as there were tonight - there were dozens of them! I realize that Brazil has a high unemployment rate and that the economy in Brazil is "in the pits" so to speak. However, I never realized that the lack of work would result in countless gorgeous hunks choosing to make a living, albeit temporary, being garotos (rent-men) at a gay sauna. Not that I am complaining, mind you. The newer guys on the scene at Lagoa readily admit they are there because they recently became unemployed and have bills to …

I have been reading the forums avidly since joining a few days ago, and I have found a few posts that include a video file, such as this one from Tomcal: http://www.boytoy.com/forums/index.php?/topic/23290-2015-porto-alegre-and-rio/?p=141121I can't view that video. If I click on it, I get an "Oops! Something went wrong!" message. This has happened on every video file since I joined the site. I can't right click and save, either. Do they work for other people? Is there a trick to it? I realize this might not be "the place" to post asking for help, but it is the only forum I'm following, and I didn't see any place that looked like an "official" place to post this. Thanks in…

Hi guys! I'm planning a trip to Brazil in a few months and I'm wondering if there are any places you guys use to chat up and make friends with garatos or other guys before your trips. Back when Manhunt and other web based meetup sights were popular you could search an area or city for profiles instead of relying on gps and whats in your immediate vicinity. I'm definitly going to hit up the saunas in SP, Rio, PA and possibly Salvador (or another second tier city. I have a month there) But it would be nice to make friends beforehand like I normally do for other trips abroad. Are there facebook groups? Does anyone want to PM some personal friend pages? haha I'm …

An unpleasant trend of bank withdrawals by Brazilians was reported for the month of January. Among other things, the report confirms a severe recession but worse, it confirms that many Brazilians are living off of their savings rather than living off of money earned by working. The increased unemployment in Brazil is one reason we are seeing a new crop of sauna workers (garotos). "The net outflow of savings deposits also has been attributed to Brazil's recession and high inflation and joblessness, which have forced Brazilians to withdraw money for basic expenses. EFE" Here is the article that is not good financial news for Brazil and/or its people: http://latino.fo…

Using street addresses to locate specific places in Colombia can be confusing. However, after you understand the unusual way addresses are assigned to buildings and places in Colombia, getting to an address is relatively easy. Last year, during my trip to Medellin, two different cab drivers could not locate the address for Club Tobi that is located in the middle of town. Part of the confusion of finding the place was caused by heavy traffic that was present at the time I decided to visit the club. As I wrote in another thread, I ended up paying the cab drivers then getting out of the cab and then walking to Club Tobi. One thing that made it easy for me to find Clu…

Published Sunday, January 31, 2016 12:13PM EST RIO DE JANEIRO -- Two Brazilian women, two pregnancies, one nightmare. But two very different stories. Regina de Lima and Tainara Lourenco became pregnant at a scary moment -- the dawn of an extraordinary Zika outbreak, as authorities came to suspect that the virus was causing an alarming spike in a rare birth defect called microcephaly. Both have reason to fear for the health of their unborn offspring. But that is where the similarities end! Lima is well-off, and took advantage of the options of affluence. Lourenco lives in a slum. She has no options, except to hope for the best. When Lima learned she was pregnan…

I contacted Marcelo who was mentioned on another thread, and he said he will not be available during my visit to Rio in mid-April. I was wondering if anybody has any other recommendations of a gay tour guide? I am not necessarily looking for a guide who will also have sex, but I am interested in one who is willing to offer frank sexual advice about places to visit, or advice about picking up guys, etc. Any recommendations are appreciated.

I have bought my ticket to Rio for April (!), and I am now looking for a place to stay. I usually look on VRBO or AirBNB, and there are a number of apartments in Ipanema and Copacabana available for a very reasonable price (38-60 US per night). At that price point, most are studios, but a few are 1BR. I have a few questions about this. Has anybody ever done it, and what was your experience? One concern if have is that most of them do not come with a lockbox or safe to lock up passport, etc., while I am assuming most hotels do. Some of them have 24 hour doormen--do you think I will have any trouble bringing people back to the unit, assuming I have rented it as a place for …

I already posted this table in a different thread but thought it might be worthy to put it again in a separate thread so that more information can be added or additional comments can be made on the best and worst days of the saunas in Rio and Porto Alegre. From general comments, it seems that Meio Mundo on a Monday night, in particular at the beginning of a month, is a real MUST !

I am planning my first trip to Brazil soon. I searched this forum and I found one reference to condoms and oral, where the garoto insisted on a condom before he would suck. This is my nightmare! It has happened to me twice before, in Zurich and in Puerto Vallarta. Zurich was my first experience with this type of sauna, where I walked in and I was immediately greeted by a multitude of amazingly hot guys, almost all of whom turned out to be visiting from Brazil. Once I got to the cabin, I was very disappointed that the guy insisted on rolling on a condom before he would consider getting down to (oral) business. He also insisted (at first) that I would need to put a condom o…

Hi Guys, The ongoing debate on garotos in SP showing-or-not their meat brought this naughty question to mind. Since apparently some of them some of the time are wanking in public (in order to entice customers), what would happen if this activity is upgraded? For example: I approach the garoto I like, slip him some bills, kneel btw his legs, and suck to our hearts content..... What would happen? Is this formally and explicitly forbidden? Would the garoto object? Would the management throw me out? How would others react? Has this happened before? Just a thought.....actually a fantasy, but I would like your insights. (-:

All cocks and boys are there for one purpose -- your money. He say hi and you pay to go to room with him, finishes sex, comes out and looks for next. All the smiles and chitchat are fake.

Hi All I'm making my first trip to South America this year. Very excited! Especially after reading all the posts on this forum. I was hoping if someone would be able to tell me what the Rio scene is like in May? I believe this is the low season in Brazil and a lot of guides advise that that it's a nice time of year to visit because the weather is good and there are less tourists. But I was wondering if this means that there are less boys in the saunas? And if so, would be be better to visit later - in June? Any info would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, J

I was in Havana from December 28th to January 4th. It was very hot and humid and this poor Canadian suffered. Fortunately I had good air conditioning in my flat but it curtailed any excursions except to to Mixte and Cafe Cantante for NYE. Mixte is a very nice club. Fantastic drag performers. I went there with Arian and Henry from the Casa and a straight couple from Zurich. I met young Felix who joined me at the end of the evening for a visit to my humble abode. He was a very smoochy, horny young Cuban. European looking and on the short side. 35CUCs. The major problem with Havana is access to potable water. I'm a big man and I drink a lot of water. Bottled wate…
