A good friend of mine is in Rio now, but just for a couple of days. He has reported that prices on almost everything are up from last year. Food, taxis, subway, and even the garotos. Even an Acai at Big Bi has gone up in price. Not sure if the price increase will stick or if it was because of the Confederation Cup. He said that last night at 117, the boys were all asking for $R100 or more. None would take less than $R100 (but that is still just $44 USD). And for anyone curious, for his short stay, he booked 2 nights at the Atlantico Copacabana. He did get a (decent?) rate of $150 per night. He was given a delux room, which is the one with the small, closet-like sittin…

Well, I had three fingers in his ass. Like what did I want? I went to Clube 117. Didn't make a special trip as I had some afternoon business in Lapa that was over at just after 4PM. Got to the sauna at 4:45PM. I cannot begin to explain how empty it was fora Tuesday. The new entry fees started and now are 20Reais for the boys. In the 3 plus hours that I was there, I saw maybe 4 or 5 that took a stroll through the sauna, looking for possible clients while deciding whether to get a locker and get changed. And of course, pay the increased fee to.....err, market their wares. I had a, to the dot, thirty minute programa with a Kauan from Niteroi. We had talked before, even e…

Down here, the country is basically closing down for the match - Selecao Brasileira vs. La Furia Roja. Beforehand, they are having some of the best of Brasilian music for the closing ceremonies. Anytime you can here Ivete Santgalo, the drum corps of Grande Rio and Jorge Ben Tor, like Martha says, "ït's a good thing! Turn on the tube and maybe your cable package will have the musical performance as well as the game. Besides my favorites on the Spanish side of Pique, Iker and Busquets, take a gander at the new young twinky subbing for Brasil - Oscar - pronounced oh-SKAHR. I'm not sure which photo I like the best, Tongue out ready for ??? or sitting on that football and …

Wow. Just Wow. It was a great surprise to end up at Meio Mundo last night. After the not-great Tuesday at 117 this week, I wasn't planning to leave the house yesterday. But I have some fears with what my happen on Monday and the general strike. I have some bills that need to be paid on the first of the month and didn't want to run the risk of problems drawing money/saques out of an ATM. So I figured what the hell. Got my business done with no problems. The banks are all still boarded up with pink - so gay - plywood. But they are all still open. It just looks like you are entering a construction site in order to conduct business. Everything else seemed normal. No protests …

Ultrapassar = Exceed A couple of weeks back Tealady asked me some questions that I then posted on a thread. Sorry that I posted the wrong information. In my failing memory banks, happens with age or maybe the tropical sun, surf, breezes, cachaca and hot men, the time limits for suites at 117 were longer than 30 minutes on Tuesdays and 40 minutes on all other days. I know for a fact, because I checked a clock and then I went up to a suite with a guy for 50 minutes. Checked the clocks downstairs when we got our room and then in the lockers as I was getting him his payment. On my bill, there was no charge for ultrapassar. Last week I made a point of asking the woman at …

The films creators have certainly cut and edited to their advantage. But it is a wake-up call. In the video, some opf the Portuguese says it is not about 20 centavos for transit. Then it flashes the costs for the World Cup and Olympics and then flashes the salario minimo which is currently at 678R$. A friend posted this to his facebook page and sent it to me. Be part of the movement if you wish. In my bit of paradise, we are totally isolated from these images and happenings. At least in Gloria and on the Praca XV yesterday, no protests were visible. I did see some photos where the protesters tossed some burning items at the base of the doors to the entry of the Pa…

I received this email about 3 hours ago from the US Consulate. The U.S. Embassy in Brasilia alerts U.S. citizens traveling to and residing in Brazil to continued protests in several cities throughout the country including Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Brasilia, Recife, Belo Horizonte, Porto Alegre, Fortaleza, Salvador, and Manaus. Protests have occurred throughout Brazil in the past week and more are planned for June 26. There have also been calls on social media for a series of strikes and protests throughout Brazil, which could potentially occur in the next week. U.S. citizens should avoid the protests and areas where large gatherings may occur. Even demonstrations or…

I went back to Meio Mundo and there has been a general freshening and things seem to be operating better. Most everyone probably are interested in the quality of the boys. Some older ones, some newer ones and some fresh out of the Zonas Oeste and Norte/West and North Zones - meaning the area near Bangu through Campo Grande to Santa Cruz and the Baixada Fluminense which includes Caxias, Mage, Maua and Nova Iguacu. I haven't been in a while as I have been chasing a swimsuit/photographic model with the most incredible abdominals from 117. There was a number to chose from for the type that I like. I was very safado tonight. I suppose frustrated for little happiness from a f…

Under eighteen miles from Congonhas to Guarulhos - last week TAM was having problems getting their crews to work at Guarulhos, SP's international airport, as the demonstrators were closing down the expressways in Sampa by physically blocking them with live demonstrators. They solved it by flying in some crews from Congonhonas, the in-city airport that serves as the ponte area/air bridge to RJ and as well as other closer destinations.

I stayed home to watch the Confederations Cup - The Cheering by everyone at the Maracana for Tahiti, losers by 10-0 was wonderful. Here's 38 photos from the O Globo website that should be simple to navigate for even non-Portuguese speakers. http://g1.globo.com/rio-de-janeiro/fotos/2013/06/fotos-rio-tem-6-dia-de-protestos.html#F845356

Today while Brazil was experiencing the biggest revolt in it's history (more than a million people protesting/rioting in several cities), the national congress was reunited, certainly debating the many issues that led to such situation, anyone would think. Well, not exactly. While people were trying to storm the building and there was even some fire in some areas (put down by the authorities) the congressman were inside discussing a proposal for a gay cure! And get this: They bother to vote on it. In a day like this! And believe it or not, it was approved! I don't know many details about this now approved gay cure cause the media was dedicating all it's coverage to the …

Last week in an unrelated topic I suggested that the economic situation in Brazil was worrisome. It took just 2 days for the country explode with violence. The feel-good and biased reaction on the forum was, as expected, total derision. Well, today, a week later, the country saw the biggest riot in all it's history, vastly documented in all news sites. I also mentioned that Brazilian currency was free-falling. More derision! Today it reached the lowest in 5 years. How long the favorable currency will last? Nobody really knows. Neither if is gonna go even lower. If you dont mind some eventual tear-gas, book your flight. There is a sauna-boy waiting for you.

A few months ago I've heard Rio's sauna 117 raised their admission price from R$ 35 to R$ 45 AT ONCE! That's nearly 30% in a country where the inflation rate is around 6% a year. I was very curious to find out how this steep raise played with the customers. Nobody in this forum that reported on 117 in the last few months mentioned any big change at least regarding attendance so I assumed that it didn't have much of an effect. Tonight I managed to go there for the first time since the admission went up and I was in shock. Less than half the number of customers, same with the number of boys. Tuesdays are their biggest night (free suites) and the waiting time for a suite at …

I found this very interesting. I walk past this place all the time. At least 2-3times a month. And for about 5 months, a couple times weekly as I was dating a guy who worked down the street from this restaurant. As the article states, it really just look like any other lanchonete in the city and no reason at all to make a special stop at this one among the thousands of others. Not to far of a walk to Club 117 and even easier via the metro)only two stops or the onibus 422 which stops the next block up on the other side of the street in front of Livreria Galileu. Café Lamas: Classic Meals, with a Side of History From the street, Café Lamas looks almost intentionally nond…

I haven't heard from the forum many "brazilianists" any mention on Brazil's notoriously deteriorating economic condition. Despite I briefly mentoned on a 117 thread last week nobody touched it, and any mention of the staggering cost of living was promptly presented with "incredible" and dirty cheap alternatives. Well, today the whole thing exploded with bombs, blood and bullets, just check the New York Times (as of now on the first page) and possibly other news sites. The Real is on free-fall and while still very expensive is becoming very favorable for foreigners, and if keeps going on the same path, the country might become affordable in a foreseeable future. Is not …

Has anyone stayed at either of these places? They are gay owned and marketed to gays and highly recommended by Trip Advisor. The Guest House is in Santa Teresa; the flats are apartments in a building about 2 blocks for the gay beach in Ipanema. They look very nice and the prices are reasonable. I booked stays at both for January 2014. No guests allowed.

I apologize if this has been discussed before, but just in the past few days, I've noticed for the first time that I cannot see most pictures that were posted in various threads. At first I thought it was because I was viewing the forum on my iPad, but I just checked on my PC laptop, and the same problem exists. When reading the threads, I can see a poster (usually one of my faves, Tomcal) describe the pictures in his post, but the pictures simply aren't there. I think when i first started reading this forum, it was hard to see pictures when you weren't logged in, but I'm logged in now and don't see them. Plus, if I recall, a non-forum member would still see the "x-ed…

Gotti, sorry for the confusion, but boy to me is not a twink.... boy/girl/man/women/ not to be taken lightly. my type is 25 to 40 your old DILF's so moving on from that point, i will drop the use of "boy", I had no idea that meant TWINK. So based on that info, you would have loved MM on Wednesday night, but for me a club with no DILFS is a no go... last night Thursday, was a lot of fun, found impy and had a nice chat with him... IMPORTANT POINT impy confirmed the time for cabin at 117 is 30 min on tuesday & 40 min the other nights of the week! If you get to RIO do look up Impy, he is great fun to talk to. We both then adjourned and moved onto DILF hunting... so t…

Impy guy showed up, and we talked about the use of the term boy, and twinks, he agreed also that boy = men = all ages, not twinks.... moving on... It was a good night, the club was full, the range of working "boys" was wide, and something for everyone was there... the room was full of DILF's (daddies i would like to fuck:) NOTES: entrance is at 45r cabin is at 25r tuesday is 30 min rest of the week is 40 min the boys have to pay 20r to enter but if the place is empty they only have to pay 10r drag show was fun Carla was on.... i understand her stage name is a play on words, kind of like dick, and the drag name is dicky, so the name carla also means big dick in Po…

went down to MM last night, I will never go back, the place is in worse shape then a year ago. they have now taken out the sofas in the locker room/TV lounge. now hard benches, the up stairs bar has long benches that are also a pain to sit on. what is that smell, it always smells like wet cats the place was empty, on wednesday night. the boys, none that i would want to even think about. sooooo i went back to 117 same thing the place was empty, but as imphy says it only takes one and he was amazing, a 10 with a perfect body, and a smile that could light up the sky! so glad i the drag show was fun again. so for a wednesday night, 117 wins again
