Theater, Movies, Art and Literature

It is dedicated to the Theater, Art and Literature crowd with a dose of music and movies!

Just finished re-watching The Defenders and I'd forgotten what a hunk a hunk a hunk of man Luke Cage is. Going to re-watch the first two seasons of his show. If you've never seen him - OMG. He is the hottest thing ever.

Comedy about the relationship between a closeted gay professor at NYU and his southern redneck family during the 1970s. Probably one of the best gay themed movie this year.

A buddy of mine is a Wong Kar-Wai fan, and sent me a link to a curated retrospective series, highlighting the career and select works of the Hong Kong filmmaker. Last night I watched Happy Together, one of the series. This film belongs on the 50 greatest gay film list in that other thread. It released around 10 years before and remains just as timeless as Brokeback Mountain . I actually saw this in a theater years ago but wasn't in the mood for the despair of the film and maybe not clever enough that day to realize the beauty of it. I expect the performance of Tony Leung will always stay with me. The direction and cinematography was stunning.

I have a reminder set for this one. The acting looks great.

What was everyone's thoughts on the first episode of the new version of The Stand? I thought too much Stu Redman and not any of the interesting characters like Larry Underwood.

  6. Started by BiBottomBoy,

Man, Tiny Pretty Things really shows a lot of boy and girl skin given that they are supposed to be 15 and 16 years old. But damn the boy and girl skin is really, really attractive and I'm just gonna take solstice in the fact that the actors are all like 21 and 22 Does make the outcry over that French movie seem silly earlier this year given that this has no controversy and in the first episode the kids are having full on vaginal and anal sex. And jesus h christ this dude is hot https://www.imdb.com/name/nm5250195/…

Anytone see this on Netflix? It has really strong trans and gay characters and Helsinki, one of the main characters is a beautiful strong bear top. A great show it's worth it just to look at Helsinki.

  8. Started by BiBottomBoy,

This morning they uploaded the new 25 hour expansion pack to Avengers on PS4 featuring Kate Bishop. Spent the last five hours killing bad guys with her. A little something positive in this lockdown.

I really enjoyed this movie. I loved watching Sophia Loren and the other cast members. I found the entire movie delightful and enjoyable. The acting was excellent. Netflix https://www.rogerebert.com/reviews/the-life-ahead-movie-review-2020

These two in the video played brothers in From Beginning to End, a Brazilian film. I understand the video at the link was a screentest prior to filming the movie. Happy Thanksgiving.

  11. I learned about Douglas Stuart last September when I read a short fiction in The New Yorker. a good read called The Englishman. Yesterday Douglas Stuart won The Man Booker Prize 2020 for his first novel, Shuggie Bain. The Brits and much of the world have come a long way. https://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-54976523

One of the 2 or 3 genuine genuises I have ever known. Reynolds Price Ardent Spirits: Leaving Home, Coming Back In his third volume of memoir, Reynolds Price explores six crucial years of his life -- his departure from home in 1955 to spend three years as a student at Oxford University; then his return to North Carolina to begin his long career as a university teacher. He gives often moving, and frequently comic, portraits of his great teachers in England -- such men as Lord David Cecil, Nevill Coghill, and W. H. Auden, who was the most distinguished English-language poet of those ye…

This is a Netflix series. It is typical Ryan Murphy which I enjoy. I loved the ending of the season setting up season 2 with Judith Light and Bette Midler. There were some cute guys in this and Ryan's showcasing various gender fluid casting. I really enjoyed it. It is not as good as Glee but what is? However, give it a try and go beyond the first few episodes to really get into it. The reviews are mixed. But, I give it a thumbs up based on the last few episodes.

The Walking Dead returned to AMC this week. It was an excellent episode. It was the season finale and it was good. But, we had to wait 6 months for it. It wrapped up the Whispers saga. FINALLY. And, another series, The Walking Dead - World Beyond. It was not great. But, I'll try for a few more episode. I didn't really care for the main characters that much but maybe I just need to try it for a bit.

Noah was recently on a few episodes but he slipped thru the cracks of the producers’ screening of participants because he just disappeared with no explanation. Is actually Ethan slipping thru cracks at Corbin Fisher.

And his wife are moving into an apartment here in Philadelphia. What should I know about them we I meet?

  19. Since Quarantine started, I've been joining a lot of life drawing sessions hosted on Zoom. Most of these actually used to be in-person life drawing sessions with a nude or thonged model and used to be hosted by bars (usually gay bars) for a "Drink and Draw" in person event. It's actually been really exciting to attend, during quarantine, as all of these events are now opened up to attendees from around the world, and the models themselves are sometimes in remote countries themselves on the other side of the world. I had a VERY interesting session on Saturday where the model had an erection (not actually uncommon in life drawing), but he maintained the erection f…

Don't we all owe a debt of gratitude to actor Christopher Atkins, who was willing to challenge the double standard of movie nudity? And looking good all the while!

  23. Started by Lucky,

(I deleted the animated photo of the star cumming. See porn section!) I had never even heard of the movie Love until the NY Post wrote about it today. The male lead, Karl Glusman, looked cute. Then I learned that it is a very sexy, if not very good movie. Apparently the photo above is from one of Karl's sex scenes. One of his orgasms was shot in 3D. (photos are for artistic purpose only.) https://nypost.com/2020/05/28/the-sex-scandals-walkouts-and-boos-of-cannes-film-festival/

We really liked Akron. It's about two of the hottest guys on campus falling in love. The acting is great. Sure, the movie has its flaws, but Amazon viewers give it 4.5 stars, and we agree! Both leads are very cute:
