When you mention “taxi boys” in previous posts what does that mean? Actual Uber drivers you hook up with or is it slang for specific type of working boys?

I CAN NOT wait for Salvador. I’m planning on being there next spring for carnival. Am I suicidal? Perhaps. I’ve heard it’s a raucous good time and like nothing else. Also the fact that it’s home to the largest diaspora of African people surely means it must be an interesting city to explore for its food and music. My dream Brazil trip will have me start in Manaus and then to São Luis and make my way down the coast all the way to PA . Finding every sauna I can and reporting back.

The last time I was in CDMX I stayed at a lovely gay friendly Airbnb in Roma/ condessa. I had my own private apartment that was within the complex. Fairly private and very lovely. So perhaps check that out?

This place was featured in Anthony Bourdain’s Parts Unknown episode of Belo Horizonte. Such a fantastic episode that I think is streaming on Netflix. Needless to say BH is on my list when I finally get down there this winter.

You travel exactly how I travel! I’ve had the absolute best experiences with local guys showing me their city. From India and Thailand to Egypt and Jordan. Mexico and colombia and Cuba. These trips really are so much more enriching than doing it alone. And sex is better (for me at least) when I’ve built up that connection throughout the day. Thank you for your fantastic posts! Tom what are the beaches like to the north of you? I imagine they are off the tourist map a bit. Especially compared to Cancun and all that horribleness. Do you know of any gay playas?

Micayito is great! It’s the gay beach near Havana. It’s a part of a series of beaches called playas de este which you can access via a tourist bus in parque central (sometimes there are boys in this park as well)in old Havana. The bus leaves every hour starting around ten a.m. Just tell the driver you want micayito and they will drop you off near it. It’s the last and farthest stop of four or five stops along the way. Just remember to catch the last bus back to town around 430 or 5 pm. The beach is cute and there is an umbrella and drinks vendor there. Lots of boys walking the beach in their underwear. Sometimes they are with their wealthier suitors other times alone looking for the next client. Also non money boy gays from the city are there. It’s a fun time cruising. Just be aware of the patrolling cop walking his beat down the shore. The boys are smart about him though. There are some abandoned structures in the area as well. Fun can be had in relative privacy. Enjoy!

I've never been to this area but perhaps the far eastern region of Cuba focusing around Santiago might be a good choice. I've been told that there are a higher concentration of black guys there. Cuba for all of its faults and for rumors of its glory days (hustling wise) behind it, is still a special place to visit.

There is a cheaper option to get to Micayito beach and that is a tourist bus that leaves every hour from Parque Central in Old town. I think it’s about five cucs. Just tell the driver that you want to go to Micayito and they will drop you off as close as they can get. It’s about a seven minute walk up the road to get to the entrance. And those sand dunes and bushes and abandoned building on the route? Great places for naughty fun with the beach boys. How I miss watching guys walk the beach in underwear (few seem to have swimming shorts) with semi hard cocks swinging around. Such a good time. Toke was my go to breakfast place. I rented an amazing apartment right at the corner of La Rampa and the malecon. Top floor with huge deck! But the last time I was there at Toke (2015) the police seemed to be ever present. In fact there were regular “sweeps” in the gay hangout areas on La Rampa which was a buzzkill. Did you experience that as well Torogen? I'm hoping that was a temporary thing.

My very first gay experience was at a stripper bar in New Orleans as well! This was at the Bourbon Pub Parade. Judging from the pictures it seems these are more clubs than bars? would you say the average customer is going there for the strippers and hustling or is it more for the party, and the dancers are a part of the festivities (albeit still “available “)? Not that it matters much as I would go to either. I just like the idea of getting down to business than being there to dance and get wasted. Do you have any recommendations for areas of town to stay in? I myself love Airbnb and I tend to stay in nicer, leafy neighborhoods than commercial centers. On a ferry! It’s not supposed to be the funnest trip on earth but I like to see more remote areas a lot. You can also cross into either Peru or brasil from Colombia via Laticia.

Meeting guys who just want to get away from their everyday world has happened to me quite a lot in my travels. I’ve had the best human connections of my life in these situations and I cherish them. And if sex is involved even better! Haha. I think travelers provide a sort of safe space for locals to indulge in. Kind of like how we do that ourselves when we leave to visit new places. A chance to be something we aren’t back home. I’m so excited to experience Amazonia, north western and then central and southern Brazil. Thanks for this update! I’m planning a trip (fingers crossed) next fall to spend a couple of months in Brazil and I’m super curious about the second tier cities. In a perfect world I’ll enter Brazil from Peru via the Amazon and take it to the coast. Then the plan is to follow the coast down to the south and finish Brazil off in Iguazu before heading onwards to Paraguay and Argentina. It seems that you didn’t hire anyone in Fortelaleza but do you know what the going rate is? If you could offer insight into the current range of what the prices between the cities are now that would be awesome.

Those that you mentioned and I think a place called Las Vegas on Infanta a couple of blocks from Humbolt. I was there when humbolt closed down. It was a huge loss and a good source of income for the workers there. There is a cafe at Calle 25 and Infanta who's name escapes me now. But boys hang out there on a regular basis looking for clients. Sit outside and watch for them.
