What on earth is going on with outside karaoke at the BBB terrace? I was sitting at the Serene bar with my off for the evening from A-Bomb, enjoying people watching and the comings and goings at the corner of the Boyztown soi, when a middle aged falang picked up a microphone and proceeded to murder "My Way" while prancing around the corner of the terrace. It was mildy amusing at first but soon became very annoying, especially when he started a second song. We drank up and left. It takes a special sort of ego to inflict your mediocre singing voice on an unwilling audience. Bring back the BBoys outside show, at least they're cute and talented.

I would be wary of this. I once gave a Pattaya bar boy a week's off fees in advance for him to give the bar. Of course, he promptly went home with my money. Most boys only work in the bars transiently, so I never expect to see them on the next visit (but, if they were good, I still hope). Yes you can rent a room in the Ambiance hotel next door for 500 Baht for short time. They normally give you one of the rooms designated for massage (i.e. without the fridge, TV etc that their normal hotel rooms have). You can arrange it in the bar, or walk in yourself and ask for a short time room. Abomb bar also uses the Ambiance if a customer wants a room - the mamasan will escort you round the corner to the hotel so he can collect his commission!

I've always wondered what the Intercontinental was like so found the review interesting. I had a phase of staying next door at the Royal Wing Suites (in the Royal Cliff hotel) in the 2000s. The service was second to none. I went back 2 years ago and found standards had slipped slightly, but my main bugbear was the increased incovenience. A hotel limo to get into central Pattaya often took 15 or 20 minutes to arrive; and they'd blocked off access via a side entrance to the shops and other facilities of Pratumnak. The only access was via the beach, which was unlit and quite precarious to try at night, or a very long walk via the main Royal Cliff entrance.

I've stayed at a couple of the hotels directly on Jomtien beach with my BF. Avalon is quite a grand property with attractive public areas, a big pool, and large rooms with balconies. Rooms are little dated now but quite acceptable. Breakfast is OK, the Asian choice is better than the Western. The overall impression was of a 4 star property being run as a 3 star. Rabbit Resort is a bit further along the beach. Rooms are mostly in separate two storey villas with one room upstairs and one downstairs. It was recently refurbished, and the rooms are attractive if slightly quirky. There are two pools, one reserved for adults. Mrs Rabbit and her Thai husband are great hosts. This place is often very highly rated on Tripadvisor (sometimes even number 1 in the whole of Pattaya). It's a fair walk along the beach to pick up a baht bus. Breakfast is good but with a more limited choice than you'd get in a larger hotel. I don't know the joiner policy in either place, but I wouldn't expect a problem.

I use Abomb a lot, and was there in May. Yes the guys are mainly straight, but they're friendly and generally a good looking bunch. One of my regulars asks for 2000 Baht short time, but he can twist me round his little finger and he knows it. Ask the manager for what you're looking for and he'll sort you out.

I was in Phuket in May. As others have said, wander around the Paradiee complex. I would start with the main soi in the middle with the fountain, turn left at the top, walk down under the next smaller soi (now mainly covered), turn right along the main road and then back into the main gay soi. The massage boys will find you!

I was in Patong for a couple of nights in January, for the first time in several years. The number of venues in the Paradise Complex had declined noticeably, but I still had fun with one boy from My Way and one from Madame Tangmo's new bar, MO2 I think it was called. Short time 1000-1500. The beer bars and clubs (Zag and Boat Bar) are generally fun. There are massage venues in the small soi immediately behind (and parallel to) most of the gay venues; and also in the wide, central soi that leads to the Paradise hotel. Some of these are men only and some mixed. I have used Blue Dolphin in the past, though the choice of masseurs can vary a lot. I have also used one of the mixed venues who had a real stunning, straight muscular lad I was immediately in lust with. The massage was OK, if a bit distracting with a lot of Thai female giggling from an adjacent curtained cubicle, though non-sexual (no happy ending offered). I negotiated to take the lad off afterwards, which was a bit of a disaster - he was completely clueless as to what was expected, I guess it was his first time in that situation.

In October last year short time with boys from Jupiter, Dream Boys and one of the more popular guys in X-Size was 2000 Baht. They made it clear they wouldn't accept less.
