  1. Simply stating what percentage goes where is not in the spirit of full accounting. I think you miss the point of some of the previous posters. They seem to be musing about the vendor perhaps receiving too much of a profit.
  2. Both Gaybutton and joseph44 have given excellent advice. Take it! This should be approached with the most extreme caution. There have been stories on US tv about human trafficking in Eastern Europe. The chances that this proposition is anything other than that is quite unlikely, in my opinion.
  3. That was the sole purpose of your posting? How amusing...
  4. They are talking about the cost of the short-time room, not the cost for the boy. That, indeed, would be a bit more.
  5. And I have another for you, John. In Chiang Mai, you really must try "Hell's Kitchen". The Thai lady who runs it learned "down home" cooking from her American mother-in-law back in Georgia, USA. I've had the tasty pleasure of eating there several times and can truly say that you'd have to go deep into the American 'Deep South' to find it's equal. Their info: "Hell's Kitchen, Anusarn Market, 149/22 Changklan Road, between O'Malleys Irish Pub & Mikes Burgers. Tel. 053-232195. Secret recipe bbq sauce from deep south USA. Open 5 pm." And, they have much more than bbq. Hope you enjoy!
  6. Pok Salad !!! Oh my goodness, John. I haven't heard anyone refer to that in a long, long time. Brings back many memories! Thanks.
  7. I have decidedly the opposite view. I much appreciate the fullness of his essays. And, I appreciate his taking the time and making the effort with them. He's not a journalist (I don't suppose), so therefore maybe it's not a concern if "more people will read" as you suggest. Perhaps its for a selective readership, as is the case with most posts on message boards. To each, his own.
  8. I've flown that route with China Airlines. Quite good service, I felt. Would definitely fly them again. The only hesitation, for me, is the U.S. west coast departure. Flying out of Atlanta, the Korean schedule is much better. (No need to get to the west coast first, for the long haul departure.) The Korean cost factor, like them all, seems to be a function of the travel dates and when you book them.
  9. I'm flying out of Atlanta nonstop to Seoul. (I think that DFW is also a gateway for them, but not sure.) The fare I have is right at $1400. But.... since I made the above post that you quoted, they've reduced the frequency of the service between Incheon and CNX. (The connection is through Incheon, not Bangkok.) You have to be patient in booking; sometimes it's not altogether easy to determine exactly which days they fly into, and then out of, Chiang Mai. The arrival is around 11:50 PM; and the return departure is about 01:30 AM!
  10. Agreed. That'd be my choice, too.
  11. A wonderful and marvelous sentiment. Thanks for sharing it.
  12. Ahh... I see, now. Otherwise, upon your 'expiration' it would revert to the listed owner of the house, right? Thanks!
  13. Hi, Bob. I think I'm missing the point of your question. When you "take the dirt nap" {as you so picturesquely phrased it in another of your recent posts...555!}, then the Thai in whose name the house had been placed {your BF, presumably} would acquire the house fully, right, with the lease evaporating at your death? What am I missing here?
  14. Thanks to each of you for these two excellent postings!
  15. Amen! 'Humanity' deserves so much better!
  16. Painai didn't say that he didn't want to read about "alturntive" (?) to Thailand nor a similar "vain" (?). In fact, he contributed an important piece of information to the discussion. What he said was that perhaps the discussion belonged in another location on our board --- not the "Gay Thailand" forum which does state clearly, in its board definition, it's for posts relating specifically to Thailand.
  17. And I was reacting to the sarcastic manner of your hyperbole.
  18. And why would you not heed your own advice?
  19. So, in other words you have no first-hand knowledge at all, unlike several other posters to this thread who have made some comprehensive and informative postings based their personal on-site observations. Excellent point Bob! I'm in agreement.
  20. So, in other words... some bars don't allow the boys to have a 'life of their own', even on days off.
  21. I agree with you GT. I've seen this a few times myself and I mostly find it quite repulsive.

    Chaing Mai

Simon, I think you will enjoy Chiang Mai very much. It, and the surrounding area, have much to offer. Over the past several weeks, GayThailand has posted a number of threads dealing with the various aspects of Chiang Mai. Just scroll downward through the list of topics and you'll see them. GayThailand's reports are quite thorough, and a few of us also added out particular perspectives to them. Just look down through the last several weeks of entries, you'll find them.
  23. This website has information that you may find helpful with respect to air service and other items: www.visit-laos.com Lao Airlines has service between Chiang Mai and Luang Prabang, with schedule and pricing found at this site: www.laoairlines.com And Air Mandalay has service between Chiang Mai and Yangon: www.airmandalay.com
  24. Ahh, I see! Sort of like those dancers that used to be at Throb that would dance onward into the audience. I was one of the lucky gawkers there one evening when I had one of them dance/'hump' right in front of, and on, my face! Ahh...memories! On the next visit to Thailand this coming Summer, I think perhaps I should find my way down to Pattaya and the Birdcage. Thanks!
