The iPods direct interpretation currently only works in for a small number of languages. Thai unfortunately is not one of them

Perhaps Aunty Vin could apply for a job as mamasan

Can the mods move this thread into the Pattaya section?

You might have been born in England, but I doubt you lived in England for long as your post is largely incorrect. I was born in England and have lived in England all my life. Asian general refers collectively to people from the Far East as well as India and Pakistan. The term Oriental is not generally used and has negative connotations due to the derogatory expression that is an abhorrent abbreviation of Western Oriental Gentleman. In England the middle of the day meal is known as lunch and the evening meal is dinner or a lighter version can be referred to as supper. Tea is an mid-afternoon meal with a cup of tea often accompanied by a biscuit or slice of cake. A more formal version can be Afternoon Tea or, in Devon or Cornwall, a Cream Tea. In some working class industrial areas a more substantial but basic meal served in early evening is known as “high tea” which is sometimes abbreviated to tea. Wikepedia explains tea well: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tea_(meal)

Perhaps the most dull thread in the history of Gayguides

I didn’t like Raya either and would not return. Cheap but poor quality.

Why did you not ask the restaurant for brown sugar? Just put a teaspoon of brown sugar in your mouth and the heat from the chilli’s instantly dissipates.

Prime actually operate from 4 separate buildings - the main building where the reception is, the building diagonally opposite which backs onto the side of Quarter hotel, the building in your picture and the building immediately to its left.

My very point and reason for use of the word deadly. These electric scooters are so dangerous

I’ve visited Hanoi on several occasions spanning over 35 years. The Old Quarter has always been crowded and touristy with the pavements used as bike parks. In the 1990’s the method of propulsion was pedal power and the city was full of bicycles and the charming sound of the riders ringing their necessary bells. That gave way to petrol powered scooters and the pollution and noise was appalling. Now e-power is taking over with battery operated scooters which look almost identical to their petrol predecessors but are pollution free and deadly quiet. It’s still a delightful city to visit and I marvel at the level of development with skyscrapers appearing from nowhere like daffodils in spring

Good length for an inner city hotel pool but very overlooked by surrounding buildings. Better for swimming for exercise than relaxing poolside -

I would avoid Voco. I stayed there in December did not enjoy it. I can best describe it as a Holiday Inn with a different colour scheme. I didn’t like the attitude of the staff and the lack of local features in the decor and cuisine. The saving grace was a good breakfast buffet albeit nowhere near as good as Le Meridien. Le Meridien and Crowne Plaza Lumpini Park are much better options. -
With taxis now bookable on the Line Man Ride, Grab and Bolt apps, its increasingly difficult to hail a taxi kerbside in Bangkok. One taxi driver told me that many drivers have language problems understanding the destination so now only pick up locals on side of street or farang via the apps. I always book taxi by app and it arrives very quickly and is inexpensive.

Barcelona - Thermas - Weekend in February.

If you are coming from and returning to El Prat, there are left luggage facilities in both T1 (24/7) and T2 (0600-2200). There is also a manned left luggage facility at Sants station (0700-2200) which is quite close to Thermas -
No doubt plenty of tossing and flipping going on inside

Indigo is very comfortable and just 5 minutes walk away

Chiang Mai is always VERY crowded for Yi Peng festival. It is the busiest few days of the year there with hoards of Thai people as well as international tourists flocking to the city for those few days.

Norse start flying a Dreamliner from Gatwick to BKK four times a week from November which may reduce prices but unfortunately there is no business or first class cabin, just Economy and premium economy
-
Often the workaround for Thailand UK flights with Qatar is to fly from Phuket rather than BKK. Seems to be more Avios availability.
