this is how dry days are working in Thailand, it's from midnight till midnight. It's why those strange closing and re-opening hours, theoretically bars can be opened past and before midnight but can't serve alcohol so most of them won't bother. Serene likely did not serve alcoholic drinks before midnight even if opened and packed. If they did they took risk or bribed somebody, still I'd be afraid of jealous competition.

there's no sex trade in Thailand so no need for such programs, ask any government official.

... and then inevitably night comes...

you are right about those with 'Bucha" name. I'm surprised Christmas day landed on the list , I was there on Christmas day in 2021 and it seemed as normal day plus of course all those decorations. Before every trip I check lit of holidays , Gaybutton forum has it always handy and when day in question comes close I will ask in the bars if they will be closed or not. If they will , i make sure I save 1 or two boys from unemployment on that day.

Really ? I'm shocked !

I think you were very prudent by not exchanging Whatsapp details with somebody you just met. Dubai is not Pattaya and you could easily land yourself into some misunderstanding if not outright trouble. It's another thing if you subsequently met guy on corridors and exchanges winks and smiles , then I'd try but not at first contact. Friend of mine very recently in Saigon went through similar proposal of contact exchange with somebody claiming to remember him from airport, which subsequently led him to illegal gambling den. Fortunately he regained his senses in time and escaped after they insisted he drinks some water or drink they treated him with.

be careful to avoid misunderstanding as usually buys treat shopping trips and gifts obtained that way as a bonus not something in lieu of cash tip.

Has this new law affecting US museums gone too far?

welcome to the forum Looking for friends don't restrict yourself to English- fluent. There are tons of decent people who are not that fluent but still speak communicable English.

another example of idiocy sweeping the world. No wonder that Trumps, Orbans, Le Pens and the likes find receptive auditoriums. Museums world over are filled with items which millions, perhaps billions may consider sacred. Are we supposed to close Louvre because some modern day Greek will claim that Nike is representation of goddess his ancestors considered sacred ? What about all those museums of religious art every self respecting city in Latin America claims to have ?. -
600 a year ! It's half of my recent airfare to BKK. I wouldn't call it small change
