very well said. For me too, vacations are from everything , including daily routine. I have basic plan for every holiday but don't have any attachment to it, it's just to put together ideas of what I want to do and see. This is why I advise to have some trip plan, for such organizational value Sometimes I realize it to the last point , other times it gets derailed sooner or later . Thailand trips are particularly prone to derailment due to all those massage boys sitting outside of shops and waving price lists at me . I may not even think about visiting this or that place but all of the sudden there's that younger brother of Apollo standing at front of some obscure place and I know I need to put my hands on him and my wallet to good use so fuck with day plan from that moment on. I learned that often occasion will not repeat itself - boy will be gone , occupied or will not look as attractive as today so try to act on it. Only time really when I stick to plan is when I have prearranged meeting , then even Apollo twins and their older brother would not derail me from heading where somebody is waiting for me. I don't want my parents to roll in their graves.

I tend to look for lower end of price scale when choosing hotels , I don't need any luxuries as long as hot water is available and A/C is working / quietly / , if breakfast is not offered I don't see any problem of walking to the nearest venue. What I'm willing to pay premium for is location - I like to be walking distance of biggest attraction of the place I'm in unless public transport is nearby and very frequent like in most of European big cities. Since I like to change hotels frequently even if staying in the same city I did not try airbnb yet and definitely I'm not interested in belonging to any hotel loyalty program.

others need to answer as I was in Jomtien only 2 nights and even then I spent my day and afternoon time in central Pattaya leaving complex when bars were still closed and returning late when everything was opened.

thank you for introducing me to Baan Silom, I stay there in June and was very happy. While room was not that spacious, was furnished nicely and enormous bathroom more than made for it. In fact wardrobe and safety deposit box is there , bit unusual concept but I was impressed anyways. One must be careful not to leave anything of value in the luggage as theoretically whoever is inside has an unsupervised access to it. You mentioned somewhere that some boys were complaining about the distance but is not really that far from Silom, perhaps 5 minutes walk to mouth of soi Tawan. So all in all great value for money, world will see me staying there again, that's sure thing.

opposite to some northern countries where can rain for days on , rains in Thailand are mostly 1-2 hour affairs when rains heavily but then it stops. That is the good time to have that lunch , dinner or massage. So rainy season is not necessarily bad time to travel. I was there last year at this time and can't say rain derailed anything, mostly because it did not rain that much and always one see it coming. Only thing we need to be prepared is change of dry clothes and shoes as it takes forever to dry even most lightweight shirt.

Like kokopelli I like being bored but unfortunately it never happens on vacation , in particular on Thai vacations. Perhaps fact that I'm there 1-3 weeks as well as spending it mostly in Bangkok rather than Pattaya helps to keep occupied. In fact I always wish I had a bit more time ( and much more money ). I sleep very little and wake up usually early which is blessing as I like long times and gentle molestation of sleeping beauty is part of Thai charms. I walk plenty so it's time consuming obviously although in BKK traffic not necessarily more than sitting in sea on cars, usually have some sightseeing idea to fill day times. When really there's nothing to do there's always book . I don't watch TV , don't go to the movies, shop very little, eat fast and still have that feeling that day is too short. Afternoon hours are perfect for massage as noted above and when darkness falls it's dinner ( only if I'm hungry or there's social situation ) and bar hopping or parking myself in just one. How one can be bored? I guess it falls to budget issues as most of 'keeping busy ' activities require some outlay , either for daily fun or to take advantage of being there and do some serious sightseeing, not just to nearest mall or Ko Larn. Luang Prabang or Angkor are 1 hr flight away and those are world class , 7 stars attractions. I believe that with 4-6 in Pattaya some moment of boredom would fall on me during day time but Bangkok is very close and there's always trip report to be written for this forum to kill that yawning.

unfortunately but logically those are problems associated with low room rates - not enough money for maintenance. That was problem with Om Yim , went to disrepair and it's now just hostel. I always wonder how Malaysia Hotel does it, charging economy but maintaining it properly? Perhaps size and economy of scale helps.

I never saw anything such such risque in bars named above. Not sure they have rules but i have feeling is not done there in recent years. Others may chip in with different experience. Soi 6 bars - Tawan , Super A, Golden Cock and Nature boy are more adventurous, I saw hot actions , including one involved girl in Tawan. My guess would be such action will command substantial tip , perhaps even close to short tip tip. Farang rimming one of Tawan boys in the open brought himself to an explosion but if cost him 2000 tip. I think Pattaya , specially Sunee bars are better destinations for hard bar fun.

they usually have free rooms , even in high season so i'm surprised they weren't able to accommodate you. If fun hotel top stay and location can't be bitten as it's in the same block soi twilight is, so lots of short time traffic there. I used to stay there every trip but with 1320 baht per night they were bitten in my heart by Nantra Silom with 1000 baht / night. Massage boys are available almost round clock but last time I was there price was 1700 , boy tip included and I learned that boy gets only 30 % i.e 510 baht out of that so if one wants to provide buy with decent tip like 1000 it's quite expensive at 2200, Senso like level. Tao , if he is still working there is in my opinion one of 5 masseurs I had in LOS based on total of 11 encounters but there were members who acted on my recommendation and weren't as impressed as me , one of those cases ' go and try for yourself" Only bad thing I can say about BBB Inn is that they should wash window drapers more often. On other hand I 'm always impressed with efficiency of A/C in the room.

yes , for me Long Time is important simply because I like to wake up with boy beside me and I'm prepared to pay for it. To avoid time confusion I don't use term ' till morning " but rather ' till breakfast" and true to form I usually invite them to accompany me for breakfast ( and by the way I ALWAYS ask my long time offs before we go to the room if they want eat something). In very rare occasion when boys did not stick to their part of bargain and wanted to leave early I either gave them said 1000 even if normally I tip more for a short time or if tipped agreed amount I was never shy to voice politely my displeasure like ' if you must , go, go but I'm very disappointed" - they sometimes get a message.
