@aaroninatl and another fun and cheap way to move around in Bangkok is to use the canal boat system =

Especially on the Chao Phrya river.

Well, gentlemen, that’ll put a wrap on this part of the trip. I’m at BKK getting ready to head to the island. Thanks for all the insight both before and once I got here. I definitely had a lot more fun because of all you guys. Was great to meet a couple of you. Hope to shake hands and have a beer with the rest of you at some point. One of my biggest regrets? Not spending more time on the rooftop of my Airbnb. I finally went up last night. It’s beautiful. Last night I booked the same place for my last couple weeks here.
I’ll be posting my Koh Samui adventures over in that board. Then I’ll start a “Adventures of a Bangkok Sophomore” post when I return in October 😉

Sad news indeed. I never met him but we exchanged few rounds of messages. I'm not making it up but his last message was exactly one year ago when he was asking me if I know what happened to one of our members who stopped posting suddenly. If shows he cared about us here.

Maybe low season has hit hard and there's not enough boy drinks and offs hence they have allowed customers to take photo and video of the floor boys in the hope of promoting them to friends or letting customers remember how they look like, enabling them to come back to bar to off them.
Anyway, thanks for sharing your photos @aaroninatl I really enjoyed reading about your adventures. Far too few trip reports nowadays. People are just reading and commenting but not contributing any latest information.

It was a full house at M2M last night in honor of Lonnie's 68th birthday. They did it properly - at 23:57 they stopped the cabaret show and commenced the 3 minute extended happy birthday dance and candle blowing ceremony so that when Lonnie blew out his candles it was truly already his 68th birthday.

Afterwards, we were all invited over to My Favorite Diner (MFD) for a birthday fire show. Of the fire dancers - the one shown above was our 😜favorite.
Free snack food (corn dogs and juicy big chicken wings) were supplied - we just had to buy our drinks. I invited my Sunee Bar dance team to join me to enjoy the festivities.
Before you all ask, I do not know if he is offable and in my 4 years of living here I have never seen this sexy fire team before. If you ask Lonnie - he can probably spill the beans about the fire dance team.

    Hi everyone,
I am writing to share some sad news. Our fellow member, Lucky, unexpectedly passed away on July 7, 2026, following a brief illness.
On a personal note, Lucky and I were in touch for over two decades. When I hadn't heard from him or seen him post anything lately, I emailed him. When there was no reply, I expected the worst. His sister must have gotten access to his email account because she eventually replied and notified me of his passing. Believe it or not, despite everything he accomplished in his career, he always looked up to me. Keeping in contact with him for 20 years was a true privilege, and I am going to miss our whore stories exchanges.
Many of you might remember Lucky as an occasional contributor to these forums since 2006, chiming in over the years to share his fondness for annual trips to Bangkok or join discussions in The Beer Bar. He truly enjoyed the community and the lifestyle we all share here.
However, the true mark he left on this world was through his deeply distinguished, trailblazing career as an attorney fighting for justice. Long before he was able to freely travel, he served as a high-ranking prosecutor and the Chief of a major District Attorney’s Hate Crimes Unit in California during the 1980s and early 1990s.
What makes his legacy so incredible is that he was an openly gay attorney doing this job during a deeply volatile and hostile era for our community. Working right on the front lines, he pioneered tough, unprecedented prosecutions against homophobic violence and secured landmark felony convictions against those who targeted gay individuals. He famously used his platform to send a clear message to institutions like the military that violence against the LGBTQ+ community would not be tolerated. He was also a fierce advocate for attorney rights, standing up for core legal principles within the state system.
When health concerns forced his early retirement in 1993, he didn't stop living fully. He spent his decades of retirement exploring the world alongside his lifelong love and partner, and caring for his beloved Scottie dogs.
Lucky was a devoted partner, a fierce advocate, a true traveler, and a man who fought hard to make the world a safer place for all of us. He will be deeply missed.
Safe travels on your final journey, Lucky.

I did find a work-around. The option to attach a photo comes up if, and only if, I edit a post I already made. So I just have to post one word, then when I edit the post, the option to attach a photo comes up again. Weird, but that's the way it is, at least for now.

Late Monday night update. We now have it ladies and gentlemen. Or gentlemen. Can't imagine we have many ladies in the crowd... at long last, here's my Top 10.
I wandered into Moonlight just as they were about to kick off the show. My initial impression was ugh here we go again when I walked in and saw a handful of guys stonefaced and emotionless standing on stage seeming to be miserable. The mamasan chatted me up but wasn't employing the high pressure sales tactics even though at the time I think I was the only customer in the place. Eventually there was some motion on the stage and guys cycled in and out. There were 4 or 5 cute guys out of the couple dozen or so.
I liked the layout of the place. You can't be far from the stage. Staff was decent... a few of the waitstaff were cute.
I'm impossible to offend, but I did cringe a little when they played a remix that had the Asian chick doing "Me So Horny, Me Love You Long Time." Evil me cackled laughing inside. One thing that set Moonlight apart is they were cool with you taking photos and video when they are doing the model lineup. I thought that's pretty brilliant on their part. Many will post it to social media ... or say on a message board with creepy old men. 😆 I'm sure the models hate it, but I had to wait to be told twice that it's kosher.
After they got past the awkward standing on stage thing, they finally got to the routines. I was glad the performances were from the actual models and not outdated extras or drag queens. There was a drag queen but she was accompanied by 2 of the dancers. The show was nowhere near the level of Jupiter, but much better than most in Silom.
Within 30 minutes the club was probably 2/3 full but mostly with groups of young women. One looked to be a bachelorette party.

Got the answer to my own question from earlier today btw at least for Moonlight. 2nd drink is 250 or 350 for a cocktail.
I stuck around for about an hour. I saw enough... Moonlight doesn't come in at the top of my Top 10... but it's far from the bottom. Without further adieu, here is my final top 10... I'm still debating on switching #1 and #2... it's so close.
    Jupiter
    Dreamboy
    Freshboy
    Moonlight
    Super A
    Goodboy
    Banana Boy
    Hotmale
    Tawan
    Natureboy
The night ended with a Bangkok downpour. I ducked into Foodland to try their chicken pad Thai hoping the rain would pass. Nope had to Grab. Have to give props to Foodland though... not for the chicken pad Thai... it was pretty forgettable. But they had staff out sweeping water off the walkway and a guy carrying a giant umbrella helped customers to and from their cars. You don't see that kind of service much in the US.

Thank you for your response. I guess (as a newbie) I didn't understand what young11 meant by not being "comfortable with sending such info to new members without many posts."
Even though I've read many posts of the region and understood the risky nuance of the scene in the middle east. I think I was just surprised at the way he was talking, which was a bit mean compared to the normal friendly response I am used to seeing in the asian section.
As a newbie who's still just opened his eyes to this "world" and still always only in the planning stage of traveling and "exploring," I can only read and learn from others' contributions and ask questions at the moment.
Thanks again for explaining the context in a nice way.

Exactly. The entertainment factor is lost on a lot of these places. Make your cast members look like a star. Showcase them. Make them seem bigger than life.. unattainable. When these places like Good Boy and Hotmale just shove a bunch of depressed and defeated looking guys on stage who are questioning their life choices with a number stuck on their underwear, it's pity I feel more than excitement.

@aaroninatl, I did some research today and I see that the Koh Samui gay scene has kind of shrunk from when I had my big trip there more than 10 years ago.  That cul-de-sac street that I spoke about where there were around 3 bars clustered together - it appears that now there is only 1 bar remaining.  It is:
      https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1EeDDfFBjw/
    https://www.instagram.com/pridebarsamui/

The Pride Bar Samui provides some additional information about the local gay scene on their "our friends" page at:
    https://www.pridebarsamui.com/our-friends/
Hopefully, you will be able to give us a much needed update about this part of Thailand.
I was in Koh Samui 2 years ago, but we were passing through on our way back from Koh Tao, which I reported on here:

Please be careful with video calls on the gay pick-up apps.
More than once I chatted with someone super sexy on Grindr to have them try to get me on a video call and/or move me over to another app to chat more.  I always declined as I was very aware of the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pig_butchering_scam
I would suggest that you be very cautious - as I have read that these "supposedly sexy guys who want to meet you" are sometimes working in a scam center trying to "pig butcher you" for your eventual financial slaughter via capturing your biometric data.
