We got similar reaction to AZ initially, and our gov first wanted to limit AZ just for elderly, but after that announcement, 10k+ people pulled out of the registration. Due to this, gov decided to make AZ an opt in vaccine, and registration is based on first come first serve and 8k or so of those who pulled out reregister. First batch registration of about 200k+ doses opened for only two states, filled up within 3 hours. Second batch of 1.2mil doses, opened to 5 states, sold out within 90mins. Thereafter, gov decided to put back AZ in the general vaccination plan. Of course our daily cases are at its worst now, 13k yesterday. So right now, any vaccines is highly sought after, be it pfizer, az or sinovac. Our DG of health just released a statement that 3k+ fully vaccinated HCW were infected, but only 3 of them at stage 3, 3 at stage 4 and zero at stage 5. All of them are vaccinated with 2 dose of pfizer. So, if anyone had a choice, pfizer would be favorable.

Did australia end up donating their AZ vaccine or even with not giving to under 40s, they still didnt have enough vaccine?

Expats are included in Thailand’s vaccination plan
spoon replied to TotallyOz's topic in Gay Thailand
Few possibilities, with the top one would be japan prefer moderna and pfizer, and have ordered enough of those vaccines, which made their AZ vaccines unused. For that reason, donating is better than letting those vaccine expires and go to waste like some countries elsewhere. Another reason is they are donating to hard hitting countries in south east asia, while i believe japan is doing well so far keeping the virus under control in their country. Of course there is always benefit to donating in need items as a diplomatic way to strengthen relationship, and it goes a long way with asian countries. -

Infections may be “3-4 times higher” than government-declared total

While im sure we cant rule out corruption, we also cannot rule out that ordering sinovac could be as simple as this is what available in the shortest time. Vaccine shortage is worldwide, so its very logical that the less effective ones are the most available. Beggars can't be chooser. I guess chinese sinovac has been very active pushing their vaccine while others are already overbooked by a lot, thus if thai gov put an order now, they might not see the first shipment maybe until 2022. I wish price is a factor but sinovac is more expensive than astrazeneca. If AZ can cope with world demand, ill bet itll be the first choice of any government struggling economically. But then again TIT. Anything goes hehe. -

To someone who weigh the risk vs benefit, sinovac definitely did very well in preventing death. Unless you have the luxury to choose vaccine type, which thailand dont have, sinovac is better than no vaccine. Indonesia also observe similar low rate of death amongst their health workers that were infected by covid, where 90% of them were vaccinated with sinovac. Yes, if the media only fixated on the death after fully vaccinated, itll in fact will make those that were on the fence about vaccine or sinovac to choose either wait for a different vaccine or worse, avoid getting vaccine at all, which is still weird to me since the fact is, covid death has been way higher multiple folds all over the world. What responsible reporting would look like is to compare the death rate amongst health workers before and after vaccines and see how vaccines help reduce the death rate. In the end, people will only see what they want to see. All the information are there, its up to the adult to decide for themselves. Some countries are making vaccine compulsory though. -

First Covid-infected tourist found in Phuket Sandbox
spoon replied to macaroni21's topic in Gay Thailand
Few things are clear to me now at least for the case of phuket sandbox. If your visit is for 14 days or less, stay off this sandbox unless you are willing to gamble that your vacation might turn out to an expensive two week quarantine in hotel prison. If your trip is more than 14 days, but less than 1-2 month, go only if you are willing to lose 14 days of your trip in case similar thing above happened. For longer term traveller, its a better choice than the compulsory quarantine STV provides, so sandbox is a no brainer. As for me, i mightve to resign to the fact that 2021 might not be a travel to thailand year for me. The only way this could happen is if thailand somehow miraculously able to vaccinate enough of their citizens to bring the cases down significantly, enough for them to relax the sandbox restriction further. The whoe reason local in sandbox needs to be vaccinated is so that even if there is a positive cases, it wouldnt matter much since itll just be like a normal flu. Until this happen, i agree that sandbox will doom to fail. -

Perhaps, but officials did say that the increase in cases have been due to the mass testing. Doesnt mean much to me now, it just shows us that previous numbers were under reporting. -
Yup saw in in snippet in tiktok. that music though lol

It takes a while for viral load to increase to detectable level. During incubation period, it is not detectable, and this can take up to 14 days in average, thus the main reason quarantine last this long. So this tourist mustve contracted the virus fairly recently prior to his departure. I recalled when malaysia and singapore had the greenlane for workers, one of the requirement is self isolation in your own home 7 days prior to departure, and 7 days isolation in singapore after arrival. -

Seems like malaysia and thailand are competing to see which gov fail the best. 9353 new cases and 87 death here today -
Reciprocity definitely a factor for visa. Malaysia is ranked 13th, Brunei at 21st. But yeah, i guess thailand reputation of wanting to marry a westerners kept them at the middle rank. But what suprised me is their rank is not far from indonesia and phillipines which i thought fare worse than thailand. When i toy the idea to bring a boy to travel with me, one country in particular allows thai to go there visa free but not indonesian.

But the two bars i mentioned above dont show any and yet price of drink is highest hehe.

Based on my experience, what is allowed or not is really not clear cut in bangkok. It also varies from bar to bar. There are bars that do sex shows, bars that do big cock shows, masturbation shows. But there are also bars that dont do any of that, but focused more on choreographed shows, without showing any dicks. Since a lot of bars might have closed now, i dont think a lot of the information we had previously is still valid. But moonlight and jupiter are the two bars that dont shows any dicks but have the guys that are more model/hunk type.

I thought thailand is higher up in their rank. Seems like they are not far from china, indonesia and philippines

There is also been a steady increase of brought in dead in malaysia, 20 of the 135 death count today is brought in dead cases. One of the reason is happy hypoxia, where despite low oxygen level in infected patient, they still breath as usual. By the time it moves to the next stage, its already too late to treat. It is not proven that this is related to delta variant but it might very well be.
