Everyone 😈. https://www.penguin.co.uk/books/412131/perv-by-jesse-bering/9780552165136 "In this eye-opening book, psychologist Jesse Bering argues that we are all sexual deviants on one level or another. He introduces us to the young woman who falls madly in love with the Eiffel Tower, a young man addicted to seductive sneezes, and a pair of deeply affectionate identical twins, among others. "

Big balls, small balls, low balls and high balls

Nope. Joyce played unworldly innocents; this lady was one. -
The boys wear silly hats.

The first sign is about recruiting new staff. I don't read Chinese but I think the second is self-explanatory 😈

Not enough information. Are the two flights sold as connecting flghts on a single ticket, or are they ticketed separately? Is your baggage checked through to BKK? Are the flights even on the same airline? I don't believe that one hour is a safe margin, and there are far worse places than Changi for wasting a few hours between flights.

The building was not "constructed in accordance with that standard [BS 476]", because it's not a standard for building construction. It's a standard for testing materials and structures. Moreover, the existence of a standard, even if it's legally mandated, is no guarantee that it gets enforced. So: Were the BS476 standard testing methods actually applied to the materials and structures of that building? Were the test results satisfactory? Was any of the testing process recorded anywhere?

Big balls, small balls, low balls and high balls
thaiophilus replied to macaroni21's topic in The Beer Bar
There was supposedly an episode of the BBC schools radio series "Music and Movement" (1930s to 1960s, target audience 5-6 year olds) where the innocent lady presenter asked some very personal questions "are your balls high up or low down" ect ect. -
Unless they've changed, I'd say high sleaze go-go. You won't find Chinese tour parties visiting them 😲

The Old War Office, apparently.

Buy something inexpensive in a 7-11. It's store policy not to object to paying for small items with large notes. If all else fails, the bar cashier should be willing to change your money for smaller notes.

I seem to recall almost exactly the same words being used about Soi Twilight...

There are (were?) three museums in Kanchanaburi. In order of must-see-ness: The Death Railway Museum and Research Centre in the centre of the town between the station and the war cemetery, is the largest and newest, well up to modern western museum standards and well worth a visit. The JEATH War Museum a little way downstream has photographs and illustrations of life in the camp, some made by the POWs, but is basically a one-monk project and badly underfunded, so don't expect too much. The "other" JEATH museum, the "World War II and JEATH War Museum" next to the bridge, has a lot of miscellaneous WWII stuff and some miscellaneous stuff. According to Google it's temporarily closed.

Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother, has died.
thaiophilus replied to mauRICE's topic in Gay Thailand
A friend was in LOS about 14 days after he died and reported "Bars in Pattaya were as usual (Sunnee useless, Boyztown quite good) except that the go-go boys were wearing black knickers and dancing to Faure's Requiem." So I think you can assume that most venues will be open, but perhaps more discreetly than usual. -
C. K. Scott Moncrieff, the first translator of Proust's À la recherche du temps perdu/Remembrance of Things Past certainly did. In the "hobbies" section of his Who's Who entry he listed "nepotism".

No, it takes a quantum mechanic. The answer is both "yes" and "no" until you observe for yourself. A-Bomb is Schrödinger's gogo.

November/December: Grand Light Festival Bangkok

Chiang Rai? You can always watch the town clock changing colour, the most exciting night-time spectacle in town! 🥱 -
Yes, soi 18 aka Yensabai. Boys in revealing shorts standing on the tables... I have maps from the Nicky's Gay Pattaya website which show it as a gogo bar between 2012 and 2014 (with added massage on the top floor from December 2013) but it had gone by the 2015 edition.

You know who owns 30% of Siam Cement?

Which businesses to you avoid on moral grounds?
thaiophilus replied to unicorn's topic in The Beer Bar
There's another airline (which I'd better not name!) which I've seen described as "like Ryanair, but without the Irish charm". -
Will you go to a restaurant if you can't see the menu before-hand?
thaiophilus replied to unicorn's topic in The Beer Bar
but still entertaining for the onlooker. Uninformed criticism of another country's cuisine can be very funny (and if they're judging by the "menu turistico" or equivalent, uninformed is what it will be.) Still, it may not tell us anything about the food, but it clearly exposes the critic's prejudices or lack of knowledge. -

I'd worry about accusations of defacing the currency, since it bears a certain portrait.
