A very accurate assessment. I am fortunate that I’ve mainly encountered “C” mamasans...because I don’t bother to engage the first two types. Also I do bribe mamasans a little bit...I will buy them a drink and offer them a tip if I feel this will make them back off and stop acting pushy. On a side note, DB Paradiso has a really horrific ladyboy mamasan...the type that will sit with you and molest you if you let her!

That is his appeal to me too, you can’t tell at all he is a gogo boy. Outside walking around Surawong he looks like just another tourist from Japan or China, not even local. For this mamasan, I would quickly establish boundaries and give a firm No if you don’t like her suggestions or just ask to sit by yourself and observe without her company. There are plenty of solo visitors to the bars and many of them decline a mamasan’s company. You can call a mamasan over to help you engage a boy but that is not an open invitation to be at your side all evening. Also don’t offer a drink, that is a sure way to get the message across.

I am trying to guess which model since only a few were working yesterday, and hoping it is Mr Smart Agree with Drim you should do what you want and not feel pressured by mamasan. Your mamasan sounds quite pushy! Even keeping in mind they have to do their job and make “sales”

Bangkok has been extremely hot. Some people are wearing the face masks to combat the heat and pollution. I know boys who always carry a mask in case they jump on the back of a motorbike taxi.

They obviously know and it was intentionally done to show they have many customers present despite being new Especially since this is less of a show bar than Jupiter or Moonlight....customers aren’t here just to drink, smoke and chat. They want to off boys and have a close look at the “goods”. But not on camera! You can either go early pre-show and have a good look at the available boys. Or go late 10.30 - 45 PM when the show is well underway, and try to stay near the door to avoid being caught on camera. But to me it is completely pointless going for the start of the show at 10 PM, having to sit through numerous opening ladyboy acts AND risk being filmed. I’d rather go to Jupiter or Moonlight and take in a show properly!

Most of the mamasans have been working there for years and will likely be there till retirement. Boy likely has gone, apart from the stars the turnover at Jupiter is high. A new Vietnamese boy #32 my friend just offed in January seems to have left the bar already.

Good luck! Babe does take hotel offs but the extent which he is willing to go remains a mystery. on the Moonlight FB page, someone left a comment in Thai on a photo of Smart saying “Good service” LOL

Well I think when Nicky had his accident Moonlight had to at least refund the off fee...but that was a serious case.

I told my friends about the DB live stream. They watched the videos and realized they were captured on camera!!! Luckily it wasn’t very clear and mostly rear view but one of my friends was clearly shown walking to the exit and back again. They had zero idea there were cameras in the bar. And the night after I was there myself, they were filming from the toilet area so all the customers were shown face on while the boys had their backs to the camera. We all agree....never again!!

A few updates from Moonlight... Post Songkran the crowds significantly lessened but most of the Hong Kong and Singapore regulars were out in full force for the long holiday weekend. Including what one mamasan dubbed the “older sister-older brother” brigade LOL. Mamasan M had his birthday at the bar last night with a lavish party supposedly part-sponsored by regular customers. Tae participated in Mr Thailand, did not win, but looks much better for it. Nicky has not been at the bar lately because he has been “moonlighting” in other venues. Joob men’s club? Sunny was roped in to perform during a Songkran show but has not been seen since. Tam has been off work for nearly a week as his female regular is in town. However he was seen in street clothes eating with Smart late last night. My friend saw Babe sitting outside the bar staring blankly into space around closing time. He asked a mamasan what was wrong with him, and the answer was “Exhausted” because he had been offed for around 10 nights in a row since Songkran. Many of the floor boys were booked out for multiple days including Sky but are now trickling back to work as the customers head home.

Yes I agree too. The boy could have been genuinely sick or just trying to do a runner, but the off fee was paid in the expectation of having the boy’s company for several hours, for which he would also be directly compensated. If he claimed to be sick minutes after leaving the bar he would still have received his bar payment of the off fee. If the customer had already taken him for dinner and drinks before hotel, that would have been a different story.

Yes there are around 3 rows of benches facing the stage directly and another 3 on the right hand side of the bar. The front row has a couch/table set up. But I agree the live feed feels very invasive. I was not aware of this when I visited! Perhaps you can avoid being captured if you sit at the bar, near the entrance ...but then you won’t have a good view or can’t go to the toilets without walking right past the camera!

I was able to do a one night stopover in Bangkok and excitedly went to see the new Paradiso. Around 10-15 boys and equal number of customers in the time I was there. Old Dreamboys had its share of unattractive boys but there were some lookers spread out among them. This time I was hard pressed to spot anyone I would off. One of them was yawning on stage. I found myself wondering which was Drim’s Mr Perfect Guy or perhaps he had been offed already? After five interminable ladyboy acts I had enough and left. I am sorry to say I only saw one boy act (above with three boys in jeans) and not the others in underwear - perhaps I shall try to time a return visit to arrive in the middle/end of the show not at the start.

Ok you sounded a little disillusioned if your first post so I was wondering if he had cheated you in some way. Glad to hear that is not the case! Many more fish in the sea, and boys in a Silom!
