I’m a bit confused by your post. I rarely carry cash in Bangkok and Pattaya, my tap to pay is accepted everywhere or at least the physical card. The exception is BTS and boys, and maybe small items at 7-11. I even pay by card in the bars. I never have more than 1000-2000 baht on my person at any time unless I’m travelling outside the major cities.

Haven’t you heard of the increasing number of host bars in Bangkok? Quite a few of the best looking gay for pay bar workers have moved on to those. That testifies to the volume of women who pay heavily to drink with a handsome guy. Additionally they are mostly locals, so that’s just the Thai female demographic, not even counting the Chinese. Then there’s Fake Club and another newer club whose name starts with A but escapes me right now. The business model of the male go go where gay customers pay cover and buy one beer to choose someone dancing on stage for sex is dying out. There hasn’t been a new, successful male go go in years. Grindr plays a role too.

Many of these girls also work in bars. It’s sort of like how actors can marry each other and not mind if their partner films intimacy scenes with another actor, they know it’s strictly professional. Though of course hiccups can happen (Brangelina comes to mind). Generally they mind far less if their guy is going with other guys. It’s really making me wonder what the original translation of “brothel” was and if the boy is Thai or possibly a different language speaker such as Cambodian Most boys refer to their bars as “raan” ร้าน When I was a newbie I used to chat with a boy each day, until around 8 or 9 pm he would inform me “now go to shop” For a long time I was puzzled. Why did he need to inform me he was going shopping? What shop, this late at night? 7-11? Later on I found out that “raan” literally translates to shop but can be used as a catch-all for a variety of retail outlets, such as pharmacy “shop that sells medicine” grocery store, restaurants. Additionally appending “khaay” (sells) followed by the name of the product defines its identity. Is a brothel then a “shop selling boys”? But Google translate says no, a brothel is ซ่อง “song”

That one is orange and usually the recommended one. But honestly the difference between green and orange is so minimal that convenience takes priority. As far as I am aware, there isn’t a green outlet located anywhere near the bar district so the best choices are either Central Park or X-One depending which side of Patpong you’re on. Or as @spoon mentions, if you have time to go to Silom Plaza. Myself, I don’t enjoy the long walk in the heat because any savings will immediately be spent on a cold beer to recover.

There is also SuperRich Turtle (operated by SuperRich orange) which is conveniently located in some BTS stations including Sala Daeng. Good for changing under 10-15k but for higher amounts I prefer the SuperRich inside Central Park or X-One as recommended by @vinapu

Pupen seafood was touristy but enjoyable. Lots of locals eating there so it must hit the mark for them. Plenty of seating when we arrived early at 5.30 and nice beach sunset view. Overall good value, usual wisdom when ordering seafood applies. Worth mentioning that staff have no interest in upselling you as their job is to serve you as efficiently as possible so they can turn over, though they may point out specials. Compared to the scammers on Beach Road. Lung Sawai just a minutes walk away is also recommended online though I’ve never been. stay away from the other “recomended” seafood spot Moom Aroi, might be good for locals but as a foreigner I found it poor If you’re the bougie sort, Cave Beach Club and Glasshouse were nice.
