Impossible to recommend a place with out a bit more info. Hotels in Bangkok are as reasonably priced as anywhere. It's a big city with good public transportation system. So you need to figure what your going to be doing and if location is a major factor. All the major chains have many locations. You can run $75 - 150 for 4and 5 star hotels. You can also find $40 very comfortable and clean hotels. Not much on amenities. I just arrived this morning. I'll be here for 3 months. I rent a condo. 1 bedroom is cheaper than hotel. Not hard to find something great in this city as it's overwhelmed with hotels.

I just missed you. I'm in a lounge at the airport in Doha on my way to Bangkok. Flew Qatar in business. I'm a big supporter of Cathay Business Class, but this flight was amazing. Most comfortable Buiness Seat I've ever had. Glad you had a great time in Hong Kong and welcome home.

Vietnam Embassy in Bangkok? Yes it is probably packed thru next week. I get my visa there and usually takes a couple of days. I'm sure now it would take a week. But the lines to drop off passport and application moves real fast. I know a lot of Vietnamese boys in Soi Twilight. Many of them left this week because they go by bus and they were having problems getting tickets next week. I was talking to 1 boy that is going Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City next week and can't get a train ticket. The Vietnamese press has said this will be the biggest New Years for travel in history as the economy is growing and more people working. I'll have to do a visa run to Hanoi, but I can wait till March.

Be careful doing a visa run to Vietnam next week. Tet is coming up and the travel mess has started as all Vietnamese want to get home by Feb 1.

Your not going to find slim, skinny boys at DreamBoys. It's not what they offer.

My understanding is at the outdoor bars, boys get an average of 20 baht per drink and indoors an average of 50 baht per drink.

What Boy Togo did you go to ? All that I go to, boys earn money from drinks. I have seen a couple of reports that some Mamasans request a fee, but I know none of my working friends have had to do this.

I'm doing Qatar from Miami-Doha-Bkk the end of Jan. My first trip on the ME3. It's 5 hours faster than going west thru Hong Kong, so thought I would give it a try.

Yes...5 on one street. Soi Twilight. Block long walking street. Bars, clubs and restaurants. Jupiter, Screwboys, Tawan...Across the street, all within 1, no more than 3 blocks. Very easy access to all. Most of the gay scene on Surawong and Silom are walkable.

Tawan will definitely have bigger guys and I think you will find ample supply of bigger boys at DreamBoys. I was at DreamBoys a couple of times last week and was surprised at the amount of definition showing up on the boys. Jupiter may have a bit of muscle. They have a bit of a reputation of bad customer service, but I've talked to a few guys that hired there recently and are having better results. They fill the bar everynight.

You will find muscular and toned at Tawan Bar, but yes, Asians aren't typically 6'. Most bars and clubs have a mix of boys. Some small twinks and some athletic builds. Asians are discovering the gym, but your not going to find in Thailand what you find in Brazil. But unless you have a really closed mind as to what you want (6'2") body builder type, you will find what you want and have a good time.

With the current govt, they want SIM cards registered, so yes, bring your passport.
