I believe that you'll find that expected tips are quite similar to those at nearby 15M Massage and K Man.

I usually translate to Thai when messaging shops.

I was just wondering - once you are in the room - how does one communicate with the masseur typically. I often read in the massage review on X that the masseur can ask about pressure, which part wants to be massaged (especially at higher end store). Negotiate tips, etc. Do they communicate at all knowing you cant speak thai

At the professional massage places (what I call Type 1 shops in my blog) they will often ask, a little after they have begun, whether the pressure feels right. At such places, they commonly can speak basic English. If they can't, then three phrases can be employed to indicate your preference: "more strong please", "okay" and "ouch".

At Type 3 and Type 4 places, there's no need to communicate about the massage. They do what they do, take it or leave it. And anyway did you go there for the massage, seriously?

What communication is needed, especially in Type 2 and Type 3 places, is about "how much you tip me?". They often know the English words for numbers to understand your reply. Everything else may need to be in sign language if their English is non existent.

If I find that I don't like the pressure or some other aspect of the massage, I get up and ask masseur to lie down and I demonstrate what I want him to do. Works for me.

That makes 100% total sense. Thank you @macaroni21. Armed with this knowledge, I am thinking of venturing to Wabi Sabi or MSense and try a good massage and maybe some happy ending. Will report back (I am going im December).

 For a type 1 store, I think that is 100% ok and a good idea. I saw that they even do an interview with a slipsheet (Glam, MSense, Wabi Sabi). With type 3 or type 4 store they will probably look at us funny since there is really no massage lol.

Interesting. Thanks! Tips 1500 baht for off fee is totally acceptable since they have to at least sit an hour (return trip) or so in traffic to reach the hotel. The taxi is additional 500-800baht my guess. So total for the boys regardless how they get there is 2000-2500baht tips which is again totally reqsonable and comparable to an 'ST fee' for one of the boys at the go go bar. Assuming this will be around 2 hours of service or so

It does mention 'transfer fee'. How on earth you do that without a Thai bank account? 

Also,in hotel ugh - logistics may be tough if there is oil spillage. The housekeeper likely not going to be happy with that 😕 and plus you have to actually sleep in this bed for the night.  

Has anyone tried these off call massage boy?

This is a big problem for me when I travel - as I tend to stay in AirBnBs and I do not want their beds ruined by the oil seeping into the expensive mattress.

So, I do one of 2 things:

1.) tell them to only use cream (instead of oil),

2.) if I am staying for more than 1 week in a place, then I will buy extra towels and 1 underneath mattress cover, that are for massage purposes to avoid that the oil ruins the mattress.

In my April trip to Da Nang, Vietnam - I employed the above option 2 and I wrote to the AirBnb owner that he would find extra towels and a fitted mattress cover - which were all stained with oil marks - even after I washed them.  However, the owner's mattress was in good shape.  The AirBnb greatly appreciated that I went out of my way to protect his asset - the bed mattress.

I love to "order in" my massages - as I know who or what was on the towel / mattress before the massage starts and I can control the lighting, ambiance, music, drinks for the massage guys (I prefer 4 hand massages), shower cleanliness, etc.

I'm with you on the 4 hand massage! I like the two guys to interact with each other, a proper 3 some. Have you found that is available!

When I am reading the reviews for instance, there masseur in more expensive places tend to give you more play (SS) whereas in Saphan Khwai, you are just down to it rightaway to get it on? (Ie they dont care about quality. Just getting it in and be done) - no “romance” whatsoever with minimum tips;.

Saphan Kwai massage price is just unbeatable I found. Yes, the price is rundown, but it can cost half as much if not less than say Prince. Glam, Wabisabi. Etc.

From experience, the only catch for me is the distance (assuming that Silom is the epicentre of our activities).

The quality of experience is a bit comparable to Soi 6 massage meaning both can be a hit or miss - although your wallet will not cry as much from a lacklustre experience in Saphan Kwai and maybe you will end up with a few extra baht to spare and hop to another nearby shop and make another mistake!

I get about five massages a week in Saphan Kwai when I’m in town and pleased to report that the guys there are indeed prepared to get down to it whenever you’re ready.

If you want romance, try your luck at soi Cowboy.

I read that “straight” boys in Saphan would turn down kiss/play and head straight to the action, is that true in your experiende ?

The attractiveness level of a man goes way up for me when he has facial hair, including East Asian men. Here's a photo with the general gist of what I mean, obviously this fellow won't be working in a Thai massage place. But I'm wondering if there are places that are more likely to have guys with facial hair.
