thank you fort the lead , need to try it next time. 7/11 is such a treasure trove

Yes !

Toasties are delicious and like 30 baht

I ate at the Capella hotel when I was in Bangkok last month ,6000 baht including wine

I would prefer buying some toasties and buying a bottle of wine 🍷 and sitting in Lumpini park

Have anyone stayed at The Inn Saladaeng? It's cheap and have good reviews. But I'm not sure if I could bring a boy back without raising an eyebrow...

Yes, I stayed there.

I took a boy back, no issues.

Oh wait... I'm thinking of a different place @21 Saladaeng

almost twice ? I 'd say three times bigger

I usually stay in the room with bathtub in the Quarter which is bigger than the other rooms. It's listed on agoda as 27m² whereas the grand deluxe room at the Raya is listed as 50m², so almost twice is correct 🤭

As for the food , I love the 711 Ham n cheese toasties better than the hotel food

Even the breakfast at Quarter Saladang hotel wasn't anything to write about ,no bacon & eggs or sausages

I went straight to 711😘😋😋

Not 7star Foodland?

that's nice place although not one of cheapies but rooms are apartment  like with kitchen

It was one of the cheapest when I stayed. But that was during the last Christmas Holiday period.

Yeah, the rooms are lovely and large. Alot of space, and as you say, like an apartment

Not recommended. Drinking is not permitted in the park, according to the BiB who pounced on me on one occasion for possession of a beer can. Fortunately it was empty, I was just looking for a bin to dispose of it.

Oh I didn't know that 😯

I noticed on my last visit to Lumpini park to he amount of stray cats living inside and Thai people feeding them

I walked it then got a Grab taxi back to my room 😀

I have heard that the Rose Residence,  next door to the Rose, is good. New, boutique, upmarket,  with small pool on roof. Anyone been there?

I’ve been during the summer. It was great. Reasonable price, lovely rooms and breakfast. The pool on the ground floor was much nicer than the one on the roof. Really friendly staff as well.

I can see both pools from my room at the Meridien.  I can see that the rooftop pool is small, but I have never seen anyone in it!

I have seen people there but it really depends on timing.

I can't imagine there are hotels in Bangkok, specially in Silom area, where bringing boy back to room would be a problem... Anybody ever stayed in a hotel where this actually was a problem?

Tarntawan was no problem bringing a boy back but they had to have id. One thing I liked about the Raya was not having to think about the id as the lift from the rear car park avoids the staffed reception.

+1,

Even front door lift avoids reception as long as your room is not on 5th floor where reception is.

The same convenience is afforded by Red Planet, ground floor lift goes directly to your floor bypassing reception on  2nd floor ( 1st for Europeans)

On Sunday night I tried new Nishitetsu Croom hotel by soi 4. Ultra modern but minimalistic design. Window only in the bathroom. Very clever safety deposit box fitting drawer. I quite liked it but truth needs to be told , for half price I have room at Raya twice as big and everything is working as well so I guess I leave Nishitetsu to more affluent guests than poor , hand to mouth pensioners

I just looked at the TripAdvisor reviews for this hotel. They are all fairly good with positive comments about the staff. Not surprisingly they appear to cater to a Japanese clientele. I put “gay” into the search function but so far no results.

Great location if you are going to be in soi 4 bars!

That can be said about 20 other hotels as well. Other than price nothing wrong with Nishitetsu.
