Boy drink 300, off fee 500 and when he presented me with those two invoices, said 1000. Strange adding formula, even on weekends in Pattaya. But he met his match as I handed calmly 800 baht and he was left with no other choice than laugh. So old advice when visiting all bars applies- make sure you have change as they may skillfully skin you alive. You are indeed the expert!

February 2, 20251 yr We can joke back if we know them eg. handing them a 500 note for the bill and saying 'one thousand'. To be serious it's often a good idea to say what banknote we're giving them so there is no dispute later.

I stayed at Le Meridien twice this last visit, for a total of 12 days. Surely I must have crossed paths with @KeithAmbrose. I would love to have met him as I enjoy his posts here.

February 5, 20251 yr Suriwongse Hotel near Moonlight was fine. 400 THB for 2 hours and 150 THB per additional hour. Towels and toilet paper in the room. No bedding or bottled water. Was told that it’s a cheaper option than many and nicer than other alternatives by the boy I offed, but not much experience to confirm or deny.

Brings back memories, must be 25 years since I've been there. Mirrors on ceiling?

February 6, 20251 yr The three main short time options in that area are the Suriwongse Hotel on Soi Thaniya 2, the Pavillion Place hotel on Patpong 2 and the Strand Inn Hotel, also on Patpong 2, but towards the Silom Road end of PP2. As noted above, the Suriwongse Hotel is 400 bath for 2 hours. The towels and bed sheets are threadbare but clean and the rooms are clean and the bathrooms have a decent shower and hot water. The lighting is white fluorescent, but you can switch that off and leave the bathroom door open if you want a bit of soft lighting... The Pavilion Place Hotel is that hotel that is directly above Screw Boy and is the place of choice for guys from that bar. It is not exclusively a short-time place. Budget travellers stay there too. I have never used it but the pictures don't look too bad. As a matter of trivia, it used to be called the Plaza Hotel when it first opened in the 1950s and it was the first hotel in Thailand to offer a telephone in every room. The Strand Inn Hotel is a good option if you actually want decent rooms. You could actually stay there quite comfortably. Ladies from the Patpong bars usually thought better of you if you were taking there for a short time, as opposed to the other two places. I haven't been there for ages but rooms used to be nice - and looking at more recent pictures online, it still appears to be decent. The have, or at least used to have, a number of cabanas on the rooftop - literal love shacks. I wonder if they still have those? If you want a quickie without feeling too cheap, this is the best option. The hotel is on Patpong 2, near the Silom Road end. A pic of one the Strand's rooms below:
