Hasn't this always been their story? "No customers, no offs, no money, many bills to pay..." What would you rather hear? "Hey Mister, you're my third customer of the day. I'm all spermed out but for 2,000 Baht I'll put up with your fat arse for the next hour or so and dream of my girlfriend or the bar girl opposite while going at it?"

They are not only there to sell their bodies but also the illusion that you're their one and only John who's come to "save" them, a tactic that works well with white men who come to Asia with a modicum of guilt and a saviour mentality.

The sun may have set on the empire but the burden never ceases.

Except this wasn’t an unsolicited story of woe but my own observations over several days reinforced by chatting with a couple of the guys. Also with another 10 or so breathing down my neck waiting to be invited for drinks due to lack of customers. Boys with no offs sit clustered along the Jupiter stairs, anyone who has been to the bar is familiar with the set up.

It is high season now so I hear Fridays and Saturdays are improving but far from Jupiter’s heyday.

This is probably a dumb question, but I see posts referring to high season all of the time.  What is considered 'high season', and is it different in Pattaya than in Bangkok, Phuket, Chiang Mai, etc.?

Not a dumb question at all. We all started somewhere. High season refers to the high tourist season, usually from November to February, with a peak in December and a moderate rise during the Chinese New Year period with more Southeast Asian and East Asian tourists visiting. It's more or less the same throughout Thailand. The Songkran festival in mid April will also see a significant rise in the number of visitors in the major cities. The cool season in the north and Songkran in Chiang Mai are also very popular with domestic tourists. Certain provinces, for eg Phuket during the vegetarian festival in October, will see a surge in tourists. Prices for accommodation and domestic flights are usually higher during the high season and festival periods.

There was also a (fourth) guy I had come to my room. But I don't officially count him as a massage boy. He didn't actually advertise himself as such, but after I asked if he'd give me a massage, he agreed. It was clear, however, that he had no experience in that. So we quickly shifted our focus to sex. And that was just good and enjoyable with him. He was also a nice and sociable guy. If you happen to see him on Grindr, you should definitely consider inviting him.

The fourth guy looks super hot indeed!

Back in Bangkok... Probably reporting about it in more detail later. 😜

But I was not happy to see jupiter raised their cover fee (1 drink) to 600baht. I think it's too much. And told them at the door and decided not to go in. They didn't want to accept my "I will go in for old price" offer.

Think should not support bar raising cover charge this high.

But can't guarantee I won't be tempted later this week to do anyway...
