The teddy bear is winning. Were you distracted by the twink receptionist?

I agree there are many cute twinks who work at Quarter Silom, not just at reception.

Teddy bear just posed with the chess set for photo. My guy won. I have been playing poorly lately.

I must say that I have been fortunate to always been assigned a room with balcony. There are some rooms without balcony.

During my first stay, I had a room in Building 3.

During my second stay, I asked for room in Building 1 as it is nearer to gym and pool and the obliging reception staff gave me my request!

I had 2 rounds of food while my guy insisted he was full after finishing one plate of food. I believe he is trying to lose weight so as not to appear flabby when he stands next to younger guys on stage in his bar.

And you are trying to gain weight so as not to appear skinny when you stand next to other fellow forum members?

it started raining heavily suddenly and everyone ran for cover under the trees or for the snacks building. Forum member brought an umbrella so he sheltered me as he walked to the MRT station entrance. My guy, being all manly, walked in the rain.

It looks like your guy was being a third wheel while you and forum member re-created a romantic scene often seen in a Korean chick flick 😃

I'm checking out after yet another fun-filled weekend trip two weeks

I actually got the fun vibe off your writing this time, unlike the one about the trip where the Music guy had a star role. Must be your guy and forum member cameo.

Thanks for compliment. I wouldn't say I enjoyed weekend trip more than 2-week holiday trip. Both were equally fun. The latter is more relaxed. No plan fixed every day. Just go with flow. But with a weekend trip, every minute counts so I plan ahead and pack as many activities that I want to do. Mental checklist. I genuinely like Music Guy and the other guys I met in 2-week holiday trip. Of course I love my guy more. If he had been in Bangkok during those 2 weeks in June, I would have had an even better holiday!

The reception staff at Quarter Silom are all so cute! I was greeted by the nerdy looking but handsome guy with black plastic glasses. He saw my guy walk in with me. My guy went to sit at the sofa while I did check in. Reception guy knew that my guy would be staying with me so he automatically provided me with 2 keycards. He didn't ask for my guy's passport to make a copy. Reception guy told me the computer system had prebooked me for a room in building 3. Very private. Side entrance via soi 6. But I didn't much care about privacy. I wanted convenience. I asked for room in building 1 as swimming pool and gym are located there on first floor. Reception guy gave me 2 options. 5th floor room with window facing swimming pool or 3rd floor room with balcony facing the other side of building. I always prefer balcony so I asked for 3rd floor room. Within minutes, my guy were inside the room. We had a 9pm dinner appointment with forum members at G's. We had half an hour and we made good use of the time in the shower together. 🥰

After a fun time in shower together, my guy and I got changed. That was when I realised that my passport was not with me. I searched my bags and couldn't find them. My guy suggested that it might be at reception. Both of went down hurriedly. Reception guy saw us and smiled. He held out my passport and returned it, saying sorry he didn't return me after I checked in. He said he did call my hotel room several times but there was no answer. Yes, no answer because my guy and I were both busy in the shower! 🤣

Was that the same guy that you said was flirting with me, and I was just completely oblivious? 😅

There are two reception guys who wear glasses and they look similar. I cannot remember which one was flirting with you. Both are acceptable in my opinion!

While I accept that the fault was mine for not checking that I collected my passport back from reception, the reception staff should also have made sure that they return the passport immediately after making a photocopy. Both sides were equally negligent. Thank goodness the issue was discovered quickly. Reception guy had passed my passport to another staff to make a photocopy while he processed my room check-in. And both Reception guy and I forgot about the passport.

The hotel really need to look into their operating practices. I like the hotel but with a heavy heart, I must comment on service standard. Some of the staff have not been trained as well as the experienced ones.

Another example I will recount is a Chinese guest coming back to reception with his keycard and luggage. He said he couldn't access the lift to the 3rd floor. His room - 310X. I can't remember the room whether it was 6, 7 or 8 so I just call it X. But clearly it was the guest's first time in hotel. He didn't realise that 3 refers to building 3 and 1 refers to 1st floor. I believe he went to lift and press 3 to go to 3rd floor. Reception staff should have explained to him more clearly. By the way, the guest's English was limited so I spoke to him in Chinese and found out his problem. I happened to be at reception when the guest came down.

I cannot recall if I wrote about the wrong keycard being given to a guest in my report about my weekend trip two weeks ago. I will recount it here - a Chinese guest came back to reception to say that when he opened the door to his room, there was someone already inside. He and his travelling buddy (another male tourist from China) were shocked. The reception staff checked and realised there was a mistake. Wrong room assigned and wrong keycard given! I didn't have to help translate as the guests spoke good English.

And finally on Saturday morning, on my way out of the hotel, I saw two Thai policemen standing at reception. All the reception staff were at reception. There was a small-sized Asian lady standing with the policemen and speaking to reception staff. I surmise that the Asian lady was a hotel guest and she probably called in the police to report something stolen from her hotel room. I didn't stay to witness what happened next.

My conclusion is that one needs to be careful when staying at this hotel. Perhaps there are too many new staff recently hired and they are inexperienced, thus making mistakes and causing misunderstanding. Always good to check and look after one's things properly. Other than this, I like the hotel. I only hope the prices are not so high! They used to be affordable but not nowadays.

These type of things happen more frequently than you'd think at hotels all around the world...Like I told Peter, no one's perfect, the people in glass houses thing?

You guys all been bragging about this hotel for so long, now you're surprised that the rates are higher...you know those popular go-go's asking 5000 THB, same theory 🤷‍♂️

The latest weekend trip took place one week ago. 31 July to 2 August. Why another trip so soon after one in mid-July?

Because another two favourite forum members are in Bangkok! Both arrived a week earlier and had one week of fun together going to bars before I met them on Friday.

Immigration queues at airport on Friday evening were just as long as two weeks ago. I estimate one to two hours wait. The E-gates for Singapore and Hong Kong passports have increased from two counters to five counters! Thai nationals also use the E-gates. My plane landed at 6:45pm, I got sim card, went through E-gates and I was on airport train at 7:15pm. Would have been faster if not for delay in train arrival.

After I reached Silom, I walked along Patpong 2 to Freshboy. It was drizzling. There were no customers at 8pm. The boss was standing outside bar with mamasan and waiters. I believe fewer than 5 boys inside who reported for work early.

My guy had not arrived yet so I waited at bar stool outside the bar and made small talk with the staff. Suddenly, the star of their show walked out. I was surprised to see him. My guy had told me that this particular guy went back to Vietnam recently so I didn't expect to see him. His trip home was less than 10 days. He came out of the bar to lift weights. I was enjoying the sight of him exercising and suddenly my guy arrived. I passed him 1000 baht to pay off fee for 2 nights. Before we left, I opened the carton of Japanese cigarettes that I bought duty free from Singapore Airport  and gave them out to anyone who smoked. My guy then carried my bag and off we went to Quarter Silom Hotel.

They started with high rates when they opened , before anybody started bragging. Only post covid they lowered them for a limited time. Rates are high because there are takers  not because  bragging. The same I guess with 5000 boys.

Recent proliferation of high end, high charge massage venues (History, Klover, Residences etc. ) seems to show that there are takers

Not really. There's a chess set, a pair of flipflops, an umbrella, my clothes and two bottles of vitamins and health supplements which my guy asked me to buy.
