Grindr is fairly busy, Hornet less so,  we have had several hits during our first month.  We haven't taken adavantage of any of those hits on the app but we do like to know what's around us and who is available.

Thanks @durian for this Da Nang update.  I stayed in Da Nang for 4.5 months last year and I truly enjoyed it.

Regarding the apps, I found that the local Vietnamese guys were mostly using the Heesay (formerly Blued) app and that is where I found most of my hookups.

As you wrote, Hornet is not popular in Da Nang.

Here is my trip report to Da Nang (it is now 1 year old) but maybe you might find some useful information.

Enjoy your time in Da Nang and please say hello to your partner. :>)

Many thanks. I am and have been working my way through your thread.

We've shared a few of the same places to frequent.

How do you get from Bangkok to Da Nang?

Thai AirAsia, Vietnam Airlines, Thai Vietjet, Bangkok Airways.  When I took Vietjet, the flight was delayed by 3 hours! As usual no explanation.

We're here until the first week of Sept and then back to Penang, we've decided/booked Chiang Mai for the next border hop in December.

Hue is located within 90 min by car from Da Nang. It is ancient capital of VN and is worth to visit.

And a visit to nearby Hoi An is essential.

I took the bus from Danang to Hue around 10 years ago.

I took a pedicab to the citadel in Hue, and as we crossed the bridge, the very friendly and chatty driver offered me his sister for the afternoon!

'Do you have a brother?'

He never spoke to me again.

The citadel itself was very disappointing back then - the reconstruction was rudimentary to say the least, and many of the buildings were just facades with nothing behind them.

I hope it's better now.

I'm thinking of a trip to Danang, if I can be bothered getting  off my arse and organising it.

HOI AN 'LIVING COLOURS'  a very friendly gay bar, we got tipsy there a couple of evenings during our weekend stay, everyone seemed really friendly.

It wasn't difficult to strike up conversations and enjoy a few drinks.

They do kareoke and drag but not on the nights we were there.

The two chaps who run the place are very nice and very friendly, as has been said in thier google reviews. Well worth a visit, we will return.

I care about cleanliness behind the bar and the way cocktails are prepared really stood out here. First Class.

Did you miss "HOI AN 'LIVING COLOURS'" in the OP post?

By the way Living Colors is running by SiamRoads guide Dave with his partner

Apologies. I thought the post was focussed on gay bars within Danang and assumed Hoi An Living Colours was probably just a bar - not a reference to Hoi An itself.

GENLTMAN'S SAUNA UPDATE

We made a return visit on thursday evening, arriving at about 5.30pm (it opens at 5pm closes at 10pm)

It was expectedly quiet which was nice, because we could have a steam and shower and watch people arrive.

Sure enough it did get a little busier by 6.30pm

This time, worth noting, that full size towels were in the lockers along with the small flannel.

There's a lot of mentions in the google reviews that no full size towels were available.

I guess it is possible that like the sauna in Hove back in the uk, they have naked days, altho if that is the case, they don't seem to be advertised.

We also noticed this time that there were very few refreshments, last time a table of fruit and iced beer were available along with iced water.

This time, there was just the iced water and crackers.  Again, perhaps week days are different to weekends.

We shall find out later today, Sunday, as were probably going back for a couple of hours, so I shall update later...

We had a good time, lots of attention paid to both of us, a mix of ages and races, probably 25 people at most.

We made friends with a very nice 22yo (possibly the tallest ever thai lad I've seen) from Bangkok, in town for a few days.

I had to remind the older man trying to play with his cock while he was talking to us that no does actually mean no.

He was very rude, the Thai lad told him two times he wasn't interested but still he tried to have his way.

We pointed the Thai lad in the direction of the two gay bars in the area, he had no knowledge of them, so that evening he decided he was going to Q bar and when he gets to Hoi An in a day or two, he will visit the bar there. It's nice to help people. Cheers.

We just arrived in Da Nang via Thai Vietjet (on time, website a nightmare, but brand new plane, half empty, good service) and the immigration lines for foreigners were like Bali 10 years ago. Easily an hour maybe 1:30 wait. We had booked FastTrack on Klook for USD $20-$30 and it was the best money we ever spent. Bags were already out, and we were out of the airport and in our car in minutes. We hear the departing immigration lines are not as long but booked FastTrack again just in case. Will be checking out Living Colors and Male Spa Hoi An!
