Just got this e-mail while I was at the demonstrations in Centro. Fun times! Last week the invasion of Mangueira by the BOPE and follow-on control by the UPP seemed to go well without too much noise. I went by the favela on Monday when I went to get my dog food. No traffic controls. No armed police. Just lots of construction on the Maracana. of course, they are behind the deadline imposed by FIFA. We can only hope it will not be more of what is happening in Complexo Do Alemao. EMERGENCY MESSAGE FOR U.S. CITIZENS-PACIFICATION OPERATIONS IN ROCINHA AND VIDIGAL FAVELAS U.S. Consulate, Rio de Janeiro-November 10, 2011 According to media reports and other open sources, …

Poor Tomcal is probably landing about now at LAX...or John Wayne airport...feeling quite tired and no doubt a bit lonely without his Brazilian boys around. But Tomcal, you have us! We are welcoming, and eager too. Yes, eager. We want the pics and all of the stories that you didn't have time to tell!

Living here and loving to cook, costs aren't to bad. Today is the boyfriend's birthday. So last night he requested supper in an Italian restaurant. Haven't been to my favorite in quite some time - Dom Camilo in Copacabana, corner of Atlantica and Bolivar. Food was great, the bottle of Montepulciano d'Abruzzo even better and the bill - enormous WOW! We had a wonderful time. A very special occasion. It was fun hearing American-accented English from many tables for the first time in quite a while, but I can now understand why you all are saying how expensive a Rio/SP vacation can be. The cab back to Praca XV was almost 30Reais. Definitely a bit more than the current 2,50Reai…

Guys, I could not believe my eyes last week and the week before (10 October until the 23rd) that Meio Mundo had overgone a complete face lift. The place has a wonderful lounge with big screen television downstairs and nice leather furniture, a redone main lounge with an American style bar, a nice room for the boys "to get hard" which is on the third floor, and separate dressing facilities for the boys and the clients. My friends and I went on three different occasions and liked the experience. The guys were after us, but mainly they seemingly favored the European/white and/or Asian clients over men of colour. I look like I belong; I have been told as well as have been …

Maybe this should be posted in the Euorpean section, but I know alot of readers here who go to Brazil also go to Europe. As perviously mentioned in other posts there are large numbers of Brazilians living in Europe. Approx, 70% of the guys working at the saunas in Spain are Brazilian, as well as in Zurich and London. The last couple of years I have been running into quite a few guys in the saunas in Rio who go to Paris for 6 months or so every year. One of them, Alexi, who was a favorite of many of us back in 2006 - 2008 went to Paris where he has stayed. He has danced at Banana Cafe where many of the Brazilian guys do stints as GoGo dancers. this past year he has b…

For the second year in a row, the bank tellers have gone on strike. Not that travelers need to see a teller, but depending on the agencia/branch, some machines are inoperable/broken. Also, keep in mind that the machines might only dispense a smaller quantity of cash/saque. Or else, that the machines might be all out of cash later in the day. The strike is mostly in the centro area of Rio. Also other cities as well. Outlying neighborhoods are not as affected. A couple months ago, the firefighters/bombeiros got a large raise in salary after a short strike. Starting in September, the mail carriers went on strike that is continuing as of now. So expect prices pretty much e…

(My translation from yesterday's newspaper) The number of official blocos that have applied to march on during Carnaval on the streets of Rio de Janeiro is larger than during the festivities this year(2100.) RIOTUR has also agreed that 476 blocos were registered for 2012, 11 more applicants than this past year. The organization still needs to evaluate each application. There were few new applications from the Zona Sul neighborhoods and Tijuca, where there are already alot of parades. This year's increase occurred in the areas of Centro, the Governor's Island/Ilha do Governador and (the vast)Zona Norte. A PUBLIC RECORD RIOTUR is limiting the size and strength…

When I am flying within Brazil, I have always flown GOL Airlines(www.voegol.com.br) They have a newer fleet of Boeing 737’s and were usually cheaper than their competition such as TAM, and they are partners with American Airlines so you get milage credit. I have taken over 50 flights on GOL and not once has the online booking process gone smoothly! Usually everything goes well until you get to the part where u have to say what credit card you are using. They give you the options for AE,Visa,Master. But if you put anything other than American Express it doesn’t go through. If you are not a resident of Brazil you can only use AE, but they don’t tell you that, you eve…

I spent 9 days in Rio and 2 days in Porto Alegre this last trip. There has been a lot of discussion about the number of guys working in the saunas vs. several years ago and the future of the saunas. I think that that overall the impressions of the other posters regarding this, is correct, IMHO, the reasons are different than some have stated and I think no one knows for sure, the economy, the internet,...? I took time this trip to talk to two of the sauna owners as well as 8 different sauna guys as to why some saunas and number of guys working has changed. I will discuss this more in a later post . I do agree with what was posted that if you had never been to B…

I am now out of the market, as I have a new boyfriend I am very happy with and who keeps me more than satisfied. However, if not, when I heard this news, from a friend of a friend, that this favelado was back from Europe and once again selling his ass at MM, I would have been there the same day, fucked up shoulder and arm in a sling or not. Not a nice person - really not. But the best sex ever. From November 2010 through March 2011, I was keeping myself very busy with this very, very talented garoto de programa from Novo Meio Mundo. His nome de guerra is Rodrigo. He had a cell but not now. He was taken to Europe by a client but is now back in Rio de Janeiro. He is fanta…

I left Curitiba for Rio de Janeiro. Clube 117 was at its pic. Many garotos and many clients... one of them had his anniversary and invited everybody to a select buffet and the show. I cannot see any problem with garotos and their quality... A lot of them at the buffed side, I choose a nice twink, who stand out the mass of big --sometimes too big--- muscles. The guy is from Rio Grande do Sul and he did behave like a true courtisan. Great company. Best greetings Epi

Gentlemen, Meio Mundo was very funny yesterday (sexta = friday). I came early but there were some garotos on duty. Soon the place was boosting (with more offer than demand). Current prices, 50 BR. I cannot also see the trumpeted decline or the rising prices in Rio Saunas... I met a handsome, V shaped man (25yo, Hugo), with beautiful dark skin and classic body perfection. Serious, sweet, devoted, a gay to keep. A truly nice programa and after (a free half-programa, may I say). He left and I met a new one: a handsome, stammering bahiano, with beautiful grey eyes and sensual lips, magrinho but powerful. Very client oriented. I left at around 21h. The street Teofilo Ottoni…

The Real this morning is trading at over 1.70 against the dollar - an increase of around 10 points (6%) in just a few weeks. Hopefully this means Rio's affordability as a destination will once again be a little more favorable for us.

I first met Dany 3 years ago at Meo Mundo when he was 18. He was one of the three guys from Meo Mundo that I took back to the Atlantico hotel that night, I still remember the night desk clerk looking at us and than starting to smile! over that year I was with him a number of times, but than he started gogo dancing at both gay and straight clubs and stopped working at the suanas. He still escorts but is much more descreet about it. And has "bulked" up quite a bit! the pic below is from that night 3 years ago.

Reuters is reporting that bondinho which runs from the station behind the iconic Petrobras tower and the new Metropolitan Cathedral up over the Arcos de Lapa through the Santa Teresa neighborhood has derailed this afternoon. Five passengers died and more than 30 others were wounded. The little trolley, the last vestige of a once enormous citywide trolley system is a popular tourist attraction. It's always been great fun when I've taken visitors for a ride. A treat to watch people hanging off the sides as the conductor only charges fares to those actually sitting down. Hang off the side and you have a freebie. A spokesman for the fire department could not say what had ca…

A Rio de Janeiro registry office in Estacio has performed the first gay civil wedding here yesterday, Wednesday 24 August. The headline in O DIA was "And the Justice said "I declare you Husband and Husband"" Estacio happens to be very close to the Prefeitura/City Hall. Just past Central do Brasil, the Sambodromo and Praca Onze. A history of love between Cla…

Model Murilo Rezende was murdered yesterday. Shocking to the Brasilian world of fashion. He was found stabbed to death in an apartment in the elegant Sao Paulo neighborhood of Jardins. Murilo was brutally stabbed to death, and also found at the same location was the body of a systems analyst Eugenio Brizola. According to the Police of Sao Paulo, there is a suspicion that a third person killed them and then fled with Bozola's car, a Honda Civic, which disappeared from the garage.

His name is Caio. I am planning to meet him next week when I am in NYC/Boston/Conneticut, but I found no reviews about this guy online. Anyone who knows him can give me some comments about this guy? Is he hot and cute and his pics? How's his service? Here is his profile http://www.rentboy.c...aspx?lid=250163 Thanks so much!

I keep looking at place and the rates are crazy in Rio and Sao Paulo. But, I would love to find a long term place in one of those cities are in Porto Alegre but not speaking the language, I am limited to where I can look. Then, they find out you are American and they want more. So, where are the best places to look to find a place?

Although I spent a weekend in Paraty back in 2005 or 2006, the visit was incomplete, for I was with a group of five guys from Sao Paulo and two guides, one male and one female. We took a boat trip on a Saturday, went to dinner at a nice restaurant and afterwards we went to a gay bar/club. Because the activity at this place started oh, so late, I had to turn in after midnight because of the plans that we had for the next day which was going to three beaches. I missed the history and the cultural component as well as the various architectural structures. Guys, if you've been there, what should my amigo and I do when we go there in October. The must "sees" and "do's!"…

Yesterday was a splendid day in Rio. Warm, not too hot, bright and sunny. The BBCC had a great exhibition covering the life of Miles Davis. Way cool and co-sponsored by the Cite de la Musique of Paris. Lots and lots of interesting people wandering around. Interesting stuff including his high school diploma, original art work created for album covers, sheet music and costumes. Many different small areas to appreciate his recordings. Next door at the redone Casa Franca-Brasil was the start of two weeks of interactive performance art with varied "Stuff" including a hard-to-describe, musical performance on mechanically-operated, deconstructed instruments. Very strange. Intera…

In liberal Brazil, some anti-gay politician is proposing a heterosexual parade in Sao Paulo to offset the huge parade the gays have each year. Here is a link to the article concerning the proposed parade - - - http://www.csmonitor.com/World/Americas/Latin-America-Monitor/2011/0804/Heterosexual-Pride-Day-in-Sao-Paulo

I decided to go into the city on the ferry today. Feeling very safado/naughty with much horniness/tesao. To start with, I have been corresponding by e-mail with a hot guy from Belo Horizonte(I do like my Mineiros)as a possible new boyfriend. Very, very my type. Anyway, even thought it is a Tuesday and supposed to be busy at 117, the last time I was there I wasn't so enthused. Lots and lots of steroidal muscle guys. Lots and lots of gay for pay kind of guys. Maybe you know the ones. They don't kiss. They say they do/ they will but they always seem to be turning their heads? A never-ending kind-of battle? So I went to Meio Mundo. On a Tuesday. The worst night of the week e…
