I finally booked my trip to Colombia, and will depart on the 4th of November and return on the 15th. After reading virtually all the posts about Colombia, still curious about a few things: 1. Are 7 days enough to get a taste of Bogota? I plan to stay in Bogota from the 4th to the 11th, and will be in Medellin for the remainder of trip. Is that a good time split? 2. Apparently has now been cancelled, where it existed, starting November for the usual approximate 3.5 months. I think this means a new time difference (from Eastern) range of 1-2 hours, formerly 1-3 hours. In Rio de Janeiro in January, for example, this will mean earlier sunset, in the 18:40 range compared to 19:40 last (our) winter. I will arrive in Rio next Friday(10/25) will be there for a week and then head to São Paulo! i will not be going to Porto Alegre this trip, but will on my next trip. The Consolação side seemed accessed only at either the extreme east and west ends, otherwise walled. Oddly, there was minimal foot traffic on a Friday afternoon walking from Metro Republica, past Hig-Mack and thru to Paulista, but it was practical to walk north from Sé and then loop westerly to capture many notable sights. I just had a phone call from a long-term Brazilian friend who alerted me to a place he visited for the first time. He said the place is great and fun. I was in Brazil August 14th to 26th, spending the first 2 days in Porto Alegre, the next 6 days in Rio and the final 3 days in Sao Paulo.
