Although his acceptance speech is in Portuguese, it is possible to get an idea of the demeanor of the new president of Brazil by watching him and listening to the tone of his voice. Bolsonaro says that he will be the president to all Brazilians and will make Brazil and its people prosperous. One thing I found odd was that he read his speech rather than speak extemporaneously. Reading makes what he says less meaningful, in my opinion. He comes across almost like a dictator rather than someone new who wants to heal Brazil and its economy and make the streets safe. Anyway, back to Brazil this month for me despite the change in regime.

Hey y'all, This will be my fifth time hitting Brazil, but first time really going for the fun and action everyone's detailed here. I'm excited to report back and add to the conversation, but wanted to come to you all for wisdom. Firstly, I'm choosing between hotel and airbnb. If I wanted to bring a guy back from grindr (and abide by all the safety tips I've seen here) are there particular hotels anyone knows of that have great/not too stringent or judgmental guest policies? Would you recommend an airbnb over hotel? I feel like the hotel is safer particularly with this being my first time traveling to Rio alone. Lastly if I just take someone to a sex motel, are…

Does anyone recall the incident last May when an off-duty Brazilian female cop shot and killed a robber on the street in Sao Paulo? The incident was filmed by someone on a cell phone. The video went viral and was seen on countless Brazilian broadcast television stations. Anyway, the female cop is now elevated to a high political position within the Brazilian Congress she just won. If you read her interview in the below linked article, what she has to say is quite disturbing. She wants ordinary citizens to be able to carry guns. The new president of Brazil, Bolsonaro, also wants ordinary citizens to be allowed to carry guns. Brazil will be lik…

I just got this link from a Brazilian friend who lives in Curitiba. Curitiba is not far from Sao Paulo. It is a clean and fairly modern city that looks much like a city in Orange County, California. The guy discussed in the below link was found near the outskirts of the State Capitol of Curitiba. He used to visit Sauna 520 in Curitiba as a garoto. Gads, what could have cause this awful event? What kind of person could do this? My friend says that probably no one will be charged and the event will just be one more unsolved casualty of Brazil. The police have no time to launch investigations over this type crime. Brazil has more …

IMHO, the best thing that Boytoy has going for it is the Latin American forum. But, one post in three days? We used to have multiple posts per day. Hopefully recent rancor has not affected the forum. I feel certain that after Sunday's election more posts will arise, by why wait until then?

No, this thread is not about security. It is about partaking in the cultural activities that Rio has to offer! Together with your guy. Define "guy" as you like. Friend, boyfriend, GP. It doesn't matter. One way to make a lasting impression on your guy - and on yourself - would be to invite him/yourself to Maracana Stadium for a futebol match. Cariocas live and breathe futebol. And the season is winding down. Depending on his team, it is either fighting not to be downgraded to the second division, for a berth in the SulAmericana or Libertadores tournament next year, or the outright championship of the Brasileirao. The odds are roughly 5…

The Brazilians had an election today. It is now past midnight in Brazil. More than 94% of the votes have been counted. This bigoted "candidate" received almost 47 % of the counted votes. His closest rival received only 28% - therefore, there is a high probability that this bigot will be Brazil's next president come the run-off election on October 28th. If he is elected, we who visit Brazil may soon find many negative changes. Considering his open hatred of gays, I am wondering if it will be safe to continue visiting Brazil in the future if this hateful bigot wins the presidency. Check out this interview with the bigot and listen to the below …

So who is in Rio end of the month and happy to meet? I know a few are and already made a few loose plans. Maybe we should have a champagne night at 117! I'm in Copa from Sunday 28 October!

The Washington Post today has a column by a writer living in Rio de Janeiro. He finds Bolsonaro very scary! https://www.washingtonpost.com/outlook/2018/10/26/brazils-version-trump-makes-trump-look-like-mr-rogers/?utm_term=.d15f63876225

Considering that I had such a good time at Lagoa a couple of days ago (Wednesday) I decided to return to Lagoa last night (Friday). Last night I went to Lagoa alone. The place was even busier and better last night than it was on Wednesday. I met a couple of nice garotos and had a great time. Then, it was time for me to leave for the night. I paid my bill and stepped outside to call for an Uber to take me back to my hotel. When the Uber car arrived, I could not see the driver because it was at night and the headlights from his car made him appear only as a shadow. He called out my name which gave me confidence to enter the vehicle. I sat i…

I am thinking of trying Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic for the first time. Any advice on the following? 1. What hotels are best to stay that allow guests with no issues and no charge. I've researched a bit but looks like the two most recommended are no longer around. The Hotel Duque de Wellington looks like it is in bankruptcy and the Mercure Comercial Santo Domingo does not look to be around anymore (no longer available for any bookings and no new hotel name there). Airbandb is not an option for this trip. 2. What are the best gay bars to meet guys there in person vs. the apps? 3. Any other advice?

Monday, at Lagoa in Sao Paulo, is usually a quiet night with hardly any clients and/or garotos. Rodolfo came up with an idea that he thought would make Monday a profitable night. Last night (Monday) Rodolfo lowered the entrance fee at Lagoa to R$30 - that's right - R$30 - Even in the early days of my visiting Lagoa nearly fifteen years ago, the entrance fee was R$35 - Bottom line - the place was packed with both clients and garotos. A good time was had by all. There is no guarantee that Rodolfo will stick with this same promotional entrance fee for future Mondays. He would be a fool if he didn't considering the huge turnout of clien…

The Brazilian Real seems to be in a state of freefall and I unashamedly want to take advantage of this, and so I am planning my second trip to Brazil in Dec 2018. These are my planned travel dates: 1.Porto Alegre: 19-21 December 2. Rio: 21-31 Dec 3. Salvador: 31 Dec - 6 January Query: Would the regular saunas in each of these places be as busy during these dates as other times of the year? (Specifically, could I expect a high garoto to client ratio)? Do garotos take 'time off' over the Christmas and New Year period? Also, I'd imagine there'd be a lot more clients than usual with it being the holiday period - I just read one of FloridaRob's post …

I want to tell you about an unpleasant episode which happened to me a couple of weeks ago in Sao Paulo. I live in Brazil since the beginning of this year, I am not a newbie and I did never have a problem with garotos (from saunas, and from the web). The thing is that depending on who you are, and how horny you are, in some circumstances the "second brain" can replace the main one and let you do mistakes that can be quite expensive. So I was in SP, during a slow day to go for Lagoa, so I did my search on Grindr and I have found the sexy guy I was needing for. Since my apartment was so messy it looked like a bomb exploded in it, I decided to go to his place (100 …

Sunday I was assaulted at 2pm directly in front of a kiosk and Posto 10, at the corner of Anibal de Mendonça and Vieira Souto. I was wearing only a fake watch, sitting in the shade on a bench on the sidewalk right next to the kiosk. Single adolescent. My backpack was securely between my knees and lower legs. I told him in Portuguese that I had nothing for him. So he hit me above the eye and ran. The street, sidewalk and beach were crowded. No one went after him. The police would have let a young teenager walk anyway. Down here they are called privates. The owner of the kiosk got me two bags of ice and plenty of paper towels to stanch the bleeding. Also called the tourist …

Has anyone used this site olimposbr.com? I don't mind paying for the info but just wonder how accurate it is. Many of the guys are on other sites. Some intriguing options for this evening and beyond. I have hired from all the other sites but Olimpos site disappeared for several months.

Earlier this week I reported that my return to Brazil last week was very disappointing because all the different fun places I usually visit had very few clients and garotos. I left each place without meeting garotos. Had last week been my first trip to Brazil, and had I found such sparse activity, I would have been inclined to think that all the wonderful stories I heard and read about Brazil were exaggerated. I commented that I would remain optimistic that Sao Paulo would return to its former marvelous place. This evening, Lagoa, made up for my two disappointing visits last week. There was a tremendous turnout of garotos tonight (Wednesday night)…

Friends are thinking of going to Costa Rica in March, but they are a bit worried about crime as they are older and, as one put it, "we can't run as fast anymore!" But I remember seeing posts, or hearing guys say they went there and had no problems at all. Can anyone provide more info about trips there? Thanks!

Villa Verde is the Gay owned Boutique Hotel(5 spacious elegant guest rooms)in Merida, Mexico that is across the street from one gay bar and 1 block from 2 others! It is owned by a gay American couple, and usually you will only see a couple other guests there. They do a lot of weddings and anniversary parties on the grounds of the hotel! i highly recommend it if you want a private place to stay! the wait staff particularly the bartender and waiters who interchangeably do both jobs in the bar area are awesome! If you are not staying there the bar is a great place to go for cocktail hour before heading out to one of the over 100 restaurants in walking distance!

I have been visiting Brazil for fifteen years and I come here quite often. Much of my Brazil time is spent in Sao Paulo but I also visit other Brazilian cities every now and again. In all my prior trips to Brazil, I had wonderful times and experiences which is why I continue to visit here. I have been in Sao Paulo one week during my current trip. With the exception of restaurants, each "fun" place I visited during the past week gets a grade of D minus, in my opinion. In my prior visits, these same places were superb and were A + or better. My two visits to Lagoa this trip were a disappointment because of so few clients and garotos. The Cine/…

Getting through customs in Guadalajara (GDL) was a breeze compared to many other cities I've traveled to. I was out of the airport in less then 45 minutes. This may be because it is a smaller city but, I prefer to think that it is just run efficiently. Uber is ubiquitous and relatively inexpensive, as an aside 2 of my Uber drivers spoke excellent English. The guy who was suppose to meet me at my Air B&B bailed but, I just replaced him with someone else I met on manhunt. The city is filled with many great "hipster" restaurants. My favorite was a burger place called "Pig's Pearls". The guys are gorgeous, almost Colombian level. GDL has a higher concentration of …
