"Fact that he offered to participate shows he is decent boy and understands our money doesn't grow on trees. Likely he feels better too as he bought it with a little of help from you, right?"

    Exactly!

I just have to resist the temptation to give him back his money on the day I leave...lol
But I'll try not to, as it gives him ownership.

He's absolutely glued to it. I'm sure he even sleeps with it...haha. We just got back from the shop where I bought him a cover and a shoulder bag. So now he's all set up. His smile hasn't left his face.

OMG I don't believe YOU just said that.....and you with all your years experience in Thailand :-)

Oh well, lets hope you're right, but hey even if not I know you're having lots of fun there "in the moment" anyway so either way it's  big loss to you. Oh and I'm now setting my watch to see how long it takes until you find and nail that Russian again once boy wonder is away playing on his new device sometime !  :-)

Things are pretty quiet in Pattaya at the moment; not dead but only just surviving, or so it would seem.
Last night we dropped by Eros at 9 pm but there was only one customer. One boy was amusing himself chuck-wowing another boy on the sofa. We went back at 12:30 but the bar was closed!
I'm not bar hopping;I'm with the same guy I spent my last holiday with. He drops by around noon for an afternoon of fun, we go out to eat and then back to the room. We then go out to one of the beer bars, but last night we were the only customers. The night before a stunning young (30ish) Russian came into the bar. He sat next to me and got very touchy-feely. (My guy had left by then and I was just finishing my drink). I had had enough to drink but found myself ordering more beers as I wanted to stay with the Russian guy. I think I ended up having about 5! He was wearing an open shirt and put my hand on his beautiful chest. He then placed my hand on his cock. Wow, what a thick sausage! He wasn't hard, but it wasn't difficult to imagine what it would be like when standing to attention. Unfortunately, his Russian friend turned up and he left.
The biggest problem for the gogo bars at the moment is probably not the lack of customers; it's the World Cup. Boys are staying home to watch the football. Or so I was told by one of the mamasans.
I've also been caught up in the World Cup. I went shopping with my guy to Tukom. He was looking longingly at a certain device - I won't mention what it was, but you can probably guess-it's what the boys all ask for. In the past I've always said "no" as I probably wouldn't see the boy again. But this guy is different -I spend my entire holiday just with him. He was drooling as we walked past all the booths, so I asked him if he wanted one. "Too expensive," he said. We kept walking and eventually he said he could pay some money towards it. What?? I've never heard a guy say that before. So in the end, I agreed and bought it fir him. The amount he put towards it was a lot for him, but probably not much for us. But it was the offer that surprised me; I was really impressed.
Well, sine then he's spent just about ALL of his time on it, checking the football scores! He comes to my room and out it comes -the device, I mean. "What about me??" I ask...lol
It's all my fault. Having said that, he does switch it off when we hop into bed and we still spend a couple of hours enjoying ourselves. Then after the shower, it's back to the device.
Oh, well, it doesn't really matter. We watch things together and it's good for conversation. I'm so glad I bought it for him because I've never seen anyone so happy in all my life!
So that is my Pattaya report. I just wish it football would finish! Other than that.....
    Life's good!

one of my little non-boy Bangkok  pleasures is to jump on the bus a random and see where it takes me,

if goes somewhere out of way there's always taxi to return back to known areas

Nothing unfortunate about that, what is an alternative to getting old? Dying young, right, so we are on right side on equation by collecting all those years.

And  Thai adventures are making us feeling younger so we can cheat calendar for a while .

Worst part are all those long flights to get there but anticipation of pleasant unknown  is what keeps jet lag away.

How long you will be there this time?

My favorite Bangkok bus map (and I have had a look at all that are available):

    http://christianpfc.blogspot.com/2014/01/bangkok-bus-guide.html

I have not seen Bangkok bus maps anywhere outside Thailand.

Apart from a few spots where taxi drivers refuse to use the meter, I have no complaints about taxi drivers. Standing in a full bus without aircon in traffic jam is no pleasure, but usually bus rides are fine, and I rarely take taxi any more now. I would not recommend buses for newcomers.

But to go from Babylon to Silom at night I second Christian's suggestion - take taxi. It's not far but not particularly interesting

Don't worry, it will turn out as following: boy 1 is back in his home province, you cannot reach boy 2 on phone or internet, boy 3 asks for an unreasonable tip before you even met and boy 4 is busy with study/work/other farang.

But there are plenty of opportunities to meet boys in real life!

    Hello Travellerdave,

I stayed at the Babylon in December in their Bulgari Suites - very nice - big queen size bed with a very nice bathroom and shower.
I did not stay in the Barracks - and the expert on the Barracks is Bucknaway over on SGT - as one of the main positives that he likes are the communal showers/bathrooms where he has had some fun encounters.

I don't think that I would stay at Babylon again -- as the main negatives for me were:

     - too far from Silom and Soi Twilight
     - breakfast is well finished by 11am and often I could not make it from having too much fun the night before.  I found this fact VERY annoying that they stopped serving breakfast so early when they are a gay hotel.

The things that I liked were:
     - access to the sauna and pool - I only went 2 times in a 9 day stay - but it was very nice and fun
     - the gardens around the Bulgari Suites are very lush and pleasant
     - the staff was nice and helpful
     - it is an easy way to meet other farangs - if that is your thing
     - meeting Thai guys was not so easy - as there were not that many around when I was there for Christmas

    ok Dave enjoy,
    M.

I, for one, unfortunately was unable to "chuckle." It's easy to suggest that the "at least five other posters" should move on, but Neal was obsessed with getting revenge and refused to move on himself; he just couldn't let go. I cut all ties with him but the threats of personal harm and of finding out my true identity so as to somehow have me arrested at Immigration continued unabated.

I have no interest in "pissing" or " dancing" on Neal's grave. Nor am I "bashing someone that is dead." I'm only interested in giving an account if my experience with him in order to counter the few positive accounts of how he was such a nice guy who "hated un-truthfulness" (give me a break! When Neal owned the BB he allowed one of his lackeys to post that I was a pedophile - a convicted one in Australia no less! The poster then wondered how a convicted pedophile could possibly be allowed to enter Thailand. (That in itself is proof that he was lying.) Of course, no evidence was ever supplied to back up that assertion, but Neal chose to remain silent. So much for a guy who 'hated un-truthfulness!")

His death is a legitimate topic to write about, given that, at one time, he was a well-known and influential member of the gay Pattaya community. It is ridiculous to suggest that nothing negative should be written about him because he has died - it happens all the time in the media. And I don't think my comments give Neal any "power" over me; on the contrary, if I had remained silent, then yes, it would have perhaps indicated that Neal had some kind of power over me and, thus, prevented me from telling my side of the story.

"Neal knew his death was imminent and that his memory would be besmirched
by his behavior and he chose not to make amends."

And that is why he receives no compassion from me.

And I know he would not want it, anyway.

I did not know him at all and am not even familiar with all controversies late Neil created.

I found encouraging that he still had friends who are trying to defend him and also those who hate him for  reason are not silenced  by majesty of his death and speaking their minds .

As Conan Doyle said in "the Hound of the Baskervilles", truly bad person is one after not even  one woman cries.

On another hand lesson from this  debacle is that our wrongs are following us after death and there's no doubt in my mind that late Neil, God let him rest in peace,  worked hard to create many enemies on all active gay Thailand boards and it's not their fault that thy seem to be relieved at news of his departure.

I also sympathize with ronthai and Neil' s other friends,  while ago I happened to lose close friend who was not universally liked to put it mildly and it was sad feeling to see that nobody really cared about her death and to realize it was really her working to create such a feelings.

Alexs advice is sound.  Things are quite now and seem to be getting better, but no-one has a crystal ball--especially in Thailand.  We could have a smooth transition or a bloodbath.  In the last 19 coups we have experienced both, so best to go with was Alexx said.

Waiting until September specifically doesn't make much sense, because if one thing is quite certain, it's that no election will be held in September (at least not this year). Nobody knows what will happen by then though, so I'd either book early and make sure that everything I book is refundable, or wait and see.
