  1. At this point it is becoming very clear that some of us get our jollies out of fighting online. A bit sad.
  2. Guys I wonder if really anything good can come of continuing this?
  3. Why do you always insist someone's right to express an opinion depends on how long they have been here for? They guy could be here for 15 seconds and could still nail it. Or be entirely wrong. You persist with this "I've been here longer than you" stuff any time you are challenged on something and frankly it comes off as really childish.
  4. I think though no doubt well intentioned pausing posting as a mark of respect maybe confers way too much importance on what goes on here.
  5. Again, it would be really useful if people could post info on what's open and what isn't in an appropriate way.
  6. It was useful information, regardless of the source. No need to treat it like a plagarised thesis.
  7. Guys great to get practical information like this. Thanks.
  8. Thanks. Really good to get such practical information.
  9. Wow this went down hill pretty fast. Have to admit I don't think anyone was being disrespectful. Also, the often repeated suggestion that longevity on the board equates with some kind of superiority is a bit childish. Some people seem to be involved in these kind of clashes a lot more than others. With a view to keeping things civil maybe the practical stuff about various venues being open or closed might be worth continuing on the "announcement thread"?
  10. Wonder how long things will shut down for?
  11. Thailand has its own set of norms. They're not mine but not up to me to criticise. Just trying to approach a practical issue for some of us in a somewhat respectful way.
  12. I just wanted to point out that I posted the question as I figured it could be of importance to anyone heading to BKK shortly. Again, we know Thais are very sensitive about this area, so I have deliberately been vague.
  13. I've never stayed but I think it is really nice how loyal some of you are to the old staff. For those of you who are unkeen to stay there if the old staff are gone a short email to the hotel explaining that might help them out.
  14. Enjoying the story. And also the irony of you complaining about too many Chinese going to Australia and then heading to Thailand to set up residence as an elderly westerner.
  15. Guys I am keeping this deliberately vague due to obvious Thai sensitivities. If there is an announcement of national importance over the next few days is there likely to be an impact on "entertainment" venues?
  16. I think this is a very good approach. I like that without breaking your own bank you can make someone a little better off.
  17. If your info about Prince reopening Hero is good, it might be worth putting a short post on the thread about Hero too.
  18. It is worth while checking if your credit card provides travel insurance as an added benefit. Or else get an annual policy. The annual ones are not expensive at all. From the UK you can get ones that cover you for losses, delays and medical (15million GBP) for around 20 pounds.
  19. I'm wondering if you actually mean to say what you've written below. Too much of a particular race of people?????
  20. Very unlikely. Unless you a potential blackmailer were to know the person he was photographing.
  21. Let's keep our fingers crossed. Hopefully we will get a little info ahead of time here.
  22. You do also tend to like to have the last word
  23. To be fair I also made this point about one of your posts.
  24. Wise words. Again we are back to the empathy thing. Put yourself in their position and behave accordingly.
