  1. I actually did get a bit carried away there once and had a bit of a scare of insufficient funds. The boys were good natured about it, although they did all sort of appear en masse at one point, with some hitherto unseen thugs (possibly of Thai or Chinese Corlione family branch). Totally nonthreatening, but intimidating. In between worries of being taken hostage or some such, I was of half a mind to ask them all to drop their pants then and there. Of course they know me pretty well...In the end I found my emergency cash stash that I'd forgotten about in the, well, heat of the moment. Everyone parted happy and satisfied.
  2. I am happy to report that, much to my surprise, the routes I took leading to Sunee last night were devoid of racing Arabs. A motorbike cop was on constant patrol. Many, many Arabs were cavorting about On Foot. Some on bikes but driving them cautiously (I did not think that within the realm of possibility for them). The interesting effect I saw was the streets were full of regular pedestrians going here and three. The neighborhood got a new lease on life. If only we could believe the crackdown would last, because it really was effective last night, around 9-10 p.m.
  3. I certainly hope so, considering their usual alcohol consumption and current relative lack of customers I think that combination would make for many unhappy, bored boys. So here's to the premixed cokes.
  4. One of the host bar managers in Jomtien mentioned to me he’d be “closed” Saturday and Sunday until midnight, but that, since it’s so hot in their rooms, the boys would all be sitting outside, drink-less, but available.
  5. I'd like to know if you find a better route. It's gotten to be such motorcycle mayhem on the way to Sunee that I've been going there less than I'd like to.
  6. That's also been my observation there these past few days, several new boys. A couple of hung and sexy twinks, although I would term them more rough trade twinks. Perfect for my eclectic taste.
  7. Thank you for the investigations leading to the very precise information re: bar policy. So, the boy I was trying to negotiate with there was indeed being entirely truthful. Maybe I'll try my luck negotiating there again but I doubt it, as the last two nights I popped my head in for a peek there, I saw far more Chinese customers than boys.
  8. From what I gather, no bars will be open this weekend due to a Buddhist holiday. Will all the bars, gogos, host, be shuttered, or just not serving alcohol? What’s a butterfly to do, aside from online trade?
  9. I know many experienced forum members never discuss money with the boy in the bar and that works very well for them. I guess is really does make sense too. It might help to motivate the boy. But how can you make sure both parties end up parting on happy terms? Before he leaves do you just hand him say 1200 ST or 1800 LT? Take it or leave it. What if he had been expecting 1500, 2000 - 3000? Do you just stand firm and he goes away one unhappy boy, presumably not talking nicely about you at his bar. Or do you up the ante?
  10. Excellent advice. That's not typo, right, offer him 500 B in bar if LT turns in to ST? That really will separate the LT willing from the unwilling.
  11. Well yes, but I was interested in Toy Boys and asking about others experiences there.
  12. Very interesting information. I will try to use it wisely.
  13. Thanks guys for all the insightful comments. I agree with all of you. Now I see, some of our very own, and favorite, forum members are high rollers and helping cause fee inflation. Joking, joking, please don’t start a war with me. Maybe I’ll make another attempt at Toyboys and casually talk to Mena. Just to finish my story, if anyone’s interested. After realizing the Toyboys boy wouldn’t budge on 3000 LT fee, I tipped him, thanked him for his time and went across the street to Prisma, my first time there too. It was great. I managed to shoo away the pushy mamasan. I offed a lovely boy who was happy with 2000 LT, and I was very happy with him. The next night (last night) I went to Dreamboys. There were lots of boys there. Many twinks to my taste. I offed one I found stunning. 2000 LT. But, I am noticing the general push back from LT, mentioned several times on this forum, I believe. In this case, the boy was happy, all sweetness and light, but, after we left the bar, and had had great sex, he gradually began compiling a laundry list of urgent items he might possibly have to attend to. I have to say I found the whole process quite amusing. I’m determined to just go with the flow and enjoy the experiences I get to have with these boys, however brief. On his growing list, among other things: got lots of text messages, a friend of his from the bar was lost in some dark street,t crying, after being abandoned by a customer. Then my boy developed a cough. I suggested several times he should just go, no problem, we do short time. “No, no” says he. The last straw was when he said he might have to walk his dogs…I almost burst out laughing. At that point I gave him a big kiss and bade him a ST tip farewell.
  14. Now I'm in even more of a quandary. I thought 1500 ST was minimum for gogo bars. Host bars another story. I'll have to try to hone my negotiating skills.
  15. I was in Toyboys two nights ago. I had a drink with a boy who seemed quite willing. He insisted on 1500B ST 3000 LT. I was surprised at the 3000. The boy was nice enough but no star. I’ve not paid more than 2000. He swore up and down it was bar policy. Every single boy there would be same same. Since it was my first time there, I have no way of knowing. I’d like to go back there since several of the boys were quite good looking. Do you guys think 3000 is the going rate in that bar? I noticed a lot of Chinese customers which I guess never bodes well in terms of price inflation.
  16. Great report. Enjoying it very much. And well written!
  17. Numazu, I’m so happy and very pleasantly surprised to see that you have resumed your trip reports. Your experiences, so eloquently and thoughtfully reported are always enjoyable to read and so full of useful information for the newbie to Thailand that I am. I look forward to every installment. Thank you. And do report on Mexico!
  18. Not to mention, I cannot for the life of me figure out how to access escort profiles on the new and improved site. Inside Thailand escort profiles aren't used, but outside of Thailand, that's the important part of the site for me. Hoping they don't ever decide to unplug the classic version.
  19. I was in Phuket this past December. I found the gay scene disappointing, almost depressing. As far as I could tell, there was only one gay gogo bar. The others were host bars or show bar. I went twice to the gogo. Twice to a host bar, James Dean. At the Gogo I really only saw two guys I found attractive. Everyone, papasan and guys were nice enough. But no way anything to compare to Bangkok or Pattaya scene. I have to say, I found a couple of real gems in massage shops around the Paradise complex. Including one from Isan I ended up spending most of my time with. Still, I left before my originally planned departure date…to get back to Pattaya.
  20. They don't advertise it, but you can choose the guy you prefer. They have an iPad with pics of the guys currently available. Now that I finally learned that, I always choose the guy. But you can't choose for foot massage, only body massage. Now if I could just find a similar quality place in Pattaya !
  21. Visiting Prime massage in Bangkok is always a highlight of my trip to Thailand. I haven’t managed to find anything equivalent in Pattaya. Certainly, I’ve found great, non sexual massage places there. But nothing like Prime which I think is fairly luxurious, has very private rooms, with shower and all male masseurs that give excellent massages. Am I missing out on some interesting places in Pattaya?
  22. Thanks guys for all these great tips. Now I just need to find an ok air fare for my July trip.
  23. I was wondering what are some Thai restaurants in Pattaya forum readers would recommend, especially in the vicinity of Jomtien, Boyztown and Sunee? I realize there are many, but I wonder if people have some favorites.
  24. I agree completely with forky123's comment on Siamroads.com. I also hired one of their guides my first time to BKK and he showed me many things I would never have otherwise seen and saved me much time and money. He was also very cute and enthusiastic, which was also a plus.
  25. The Amara hotel is top notch. I also highly recommend it.
