And then on top of all this Zika news, you see many articles talking about the Olympics having worse problems then Zika and water is the bigger problem. All and all Brazil and especially Rio are getting more bad publicity then they could have ever imagined leading up to the Olympic Games. Sad situation for Brazilians who had their corrupt government fail them in so many ways . NBC will of course put the best face on all the problems and they are lucky to have such a beautiful landscape to do their promos from. It will be interesting to see if they actually show what a disaster the Olympics has been for the people of Rio and the corruption that made it so. There are a lot of governments that are failing their citizens in the world but certainly Rio and Brazil are high on the list.

Agreed , I switched from ATT and love Tmobile. Instant service in every country I have been in . 3G is good and calls are free in country and calls to other countries are at the most 20Cents per minute vs. $2 with the crooks at ATT. I agree there is no comparison. Get a far nicer place at much less money. I use VRBO also. It takes some work but is always worth the effort. Location is always important to me and frequently I have stayed within a block or two of Five Star Hotels getting 5x what I pay for 1/3 the size. I use them for any stay of 3 days or longer and on occasion even just 2 nights. I rarely rent one without reviews and at least I know the reviews are legitimate and posted only by people who have actually stayed in contrast to Hotels where most reviews are not worth the ink used to write them. Not only that but most Hosts are a wealth of information on restaurants , sightseeing etc and provide much better information for your stay then any Hotel. Most of my rentals have been equal to or superior to my Home Country Condo. Complaining about them not showing the prices until you are ready to book is ridiculous. Same exact things with Hotels. They give you the final figure before you pay and that is all you need. I have used both in New Zealand, Australia, Ireland, Spain,Scotland, France , Germany , Poland, Portugal, Thailand, Vietnam and more. Only in 1 case was the apartment not like described and pictured. Never had a problem with communication and in fact communication has always been better then when I email a Hotel for information. Airbnb the Host never gets a penny until you check out. I do agree that it can be tedious to contact Airbnb the one time i needed to but their response was adequate when finally reached.

Different cities , different prices.. Much of Bangkok will be 1500 baht ($40)US for short time 2000 overnight. Can be less or more depending on Bar and Boy but that is pretty normal. On Gay apps 1000-1200 still works. Muscle Boys at Tawan are probably more. Pattaya 1000 short time 1500 over night with some asking for more on either stay. Each Bar has different off fees to the Bar. BKK 4-600 Pattaya 3-500. O f you use any of the apps will be on the low end and no off fees.

Athens, Montreal , Sydney, Sochi etc just to name a few turned out to be finical disasters for their cities in the long term and the infrastructure useless to the citizens and decaying. Of course there have also been some successes but it happens when the cities already have significant infrastructure to host the games . Rio of course in many ways is a 3rd world city with an enormous very poor population and we'll have to wait but there is a good chance the long term results will be bad.
