  1. Hi everyone…. At one point someone posted a link to a website of love motels in Colombia (or maybe it was Medellin). Does anyone recall that post or link? I’ve done a bit of digging and can’t seem to find it. Could you re-up if you do? Thank you!

Are the locals paying 50/60 dollars per month? I was paying less in my gym in DC, although I dropped my membership during the pandemic lock downs.

Yes, gyms are one of the things that are expensive for locals, it’s why you see so many locals working out at the free outdoor gyms.  Bodytech is equivalent of an equinox in US that comes with a $200/mo price tag in most US cities…

there are lots of whole in the wall gyms I see in every neighborhood. Those are prob much less expensive.

  3. Gyms:

For those of you who are visiting regularly or long term I recommend getting a gym membership at BodyTech. It’s about $50 a USD, minimum two months, but day passes are super expensive.

ultra gym at the charlee is awesome too. About $60 USD a month no minimum.  There’s only one location, right in center of Parque Lleras and while it’s a better gym, I chose bodytech for convenience. English speaking trainers here, about $15-20 a session.

There’s also a CrossFit, CrossFit deluxe in poblado that is amazing.  Great trainers, great people.

skip smartfit, they are all tiny and it’s super crowded.

if In laureles and u don’t wanna do BodyTech, there is an old school body builder  gym that is largely outside,  but I love it. It’s called Magnum.

    Trainers:

I have a great trainer. He’s independent, but if you pay for his gym membership (or use one of the free outdoor gyms) he will train you for roughly $8-12 a session and Uber ($3-4 US each way).  DM and I’ll get you his info.  He’s gay but not an escort. And I don’t think he’d like being propositioned. But who knows?

Cartagena is also very beautiful, gay, and more Caribbean while Medellin is more like several Mexican cities. The guys are healthy and handsome in Medellin (and friendly), just harder to meet once there since Club Tobi closed. (RIP Club Tobi). But Medellin is definitely pleasant and casual.

btw-- Maybe take some air-sickness pills for the winding road trip over the huge mountain from the far-out airport into town. Cabs are usually small and drivers take the curves as fast as possible to save time. It's a long way up and a steep way down. There's a small airport right downtown they should have kept (maybe to Cartagena?).  Bonnes Vacances !

@tassojunior has it been a minute since you’ve visited Medallo? They finished construction on a couple tunnels thru the mountains in the last few years… airport is 25 mins outside of Poblado now. Much easier trip. Also, haven’t found it difficult to meet guys — although I heard that was the case from a few years back…. Bars are full, and folks are friendly. Grindr and Scruff are very popular as well… Spanish/English is a larger prob as most (not all) guys are Spanish only… def recommend Medellin.

I am waiting for the friend who is going to take care of my place and my kitty. After checking last details with him, I will pack and leave everything ready to leave tomorrow morning after getting up and showering. It is going to be a long trip, with two stops. First La Guardia and then Miami International before landing in Medellin.

I just texted Fercho and they sent me a bunch of pics and clips from about 15 guys. Some of them have 10 pictures, some have only one. I am glad because I found several boys I saw fucking in Bilatinmen. I chose about 6 guys I liked, sent those pictures back, and asked for the logistics. I received a voice message with the following information. They always work with catalogue. You ask them for it, they send it and you pick. You cannot just show up, they work with appointments. If you go to them, it is 150K for one hour full service, room included. If they send the boy to you, it is 180K plus the transportation. I will probably go over there to try the place at least once.

I have been exploring local cruising through Chaturbate, grindr and scruff. "Paisas", as the locals are called, seem to be extremely friendly, as well as the many Venezuelans also available in the city. I have several whatsapps and offers for both, paid and unpaid sex. However, believe it or not, sex is not my main interest in this visit.

This year I am turning 60, and I am starting to take more seriously my after retirement plans. My original plan was walking Medellin, exploring not only touristic attractions but mainly everyday places and routines. Unfortunately, it looks like it is going to be raining during my whole visit. My plans will be seriously restricted.

Our friend @macdaddi has been educating me in the local secrets. Hopefully, there are other fiends right now in the city. Do no hesitate to reach out. I would love to establish a local network/social circle as I am planning to travel periodically, if everything goes as it seems it will go. The city looks really, really promising.

It rains almost every day in Medellin, but they are short showers, an hour max...  rest of day is gorgeous.  Plenty of opportunity to walk and explore. Also Ubers are plentiful and very inexpensive. Grab an umbrella, you’re going to be a-ok.  Enjoy!

Hey guys.  It's my first time to BA.  I've been to Rio - loved it - and found my way to 117, 202, etc.  BA doesn't get all that much play here, so I'm wondering if anyone has some suggestions for:

    1. what area to stay in where there are cafes, restaurants where cute gay guys (not garatos) hang out, just for eye candy purposes.  Also, in what area - I'm assuming the same - would there be more boys strolling around?
    2. gay gym - I think the Megatlon chain might have a gay crowd, but which one(s)? Any other gym suggestions?
    3. a modestly priced hotel/apartment in that neighborhood?
    4. and, last but not least, muscle guys for hire - yes, specifically muscle men, big bodybuilders most preferred.  I've seen soytuyo and some of the other sites, but I didn't see any really competitive bodybuilder types (ripped fitness model types also do it for me).  I realize that there's nothing in BA like the Rio saunas, so any advice would be most appreciated - if anyone knows anyone in particular, please by all means send me a private message with contact info.

    Many thanks!

Take 100s in USD, it’s much easier to exchange them at the blue exchange. Def use cash as the blue rate is almost 2 to 1 better than if you use your credit card or get $ out of atm

I've been considering the idea. In the long term, I wanna visit several Colombian cities and I do not enjoy visiting more than one city per trip. So the question would be where to start. Bogotá or Medellín, one of those two will be my first. And no, I am not really looking for the "gay fun", other than Grindr and local escorts. I do like spending the day with guys, but exploring non gay activities and places, but mingling with the locals.

Medellin closeness to nature and weather are strong points. Also, I enjoy the more relaxed vibe of some cities (that is why I am not interested in São Paulo). I may be wrong, but in the videos I am watching Medellin strikes me as more provincial, I like that a lot. I would avoid El Poblado as much as possible, for instance, and explore areas that are popular for the locals, not for gringos and other tourists.

By the way, I am Argentinean. Both nationals like each other and have a long story of cultural exchange (Carlos Gardel died in Colombia during a tour). I doubt they will see me as a gringo, and hope they will soon consider me an insider if I start traveling regularly.

El poblado is very popular with locals. Medellin, until very recently, wasn’t a tourist destination — so there aren’t areas that are just “tourist” spots, like Times Square.

Just because tourists go to Poblado, doesn’t mean it’s not authentic. Tourists go to Greenwich Village and Central Park — but it’s full of actual New Yorkers who live in and around those neighborhoods. You’d be missing out if you skipped Poblado.  You should stay in Poblado and use it as your launchpad to go other places… I would stay outside a 10-15 min walk radius of Parque Lleras, although you definitely want to check it out on the weekend… it’s where thousands of Colombians descend to chill on the street, hang out in the park or drink and eat.

My investigation so far would indicate that in Medellin your goals are incompatible. Apparently, you cannot be at walking distance of the party area and at the same time staying in an apartment where you can celebrate promiscuity.

The airbnbs in and close to El Poblado, which would be the are where the fun never ends, seem to be all enrolled in an anti sex tourism campaign. I was advised here to look for my temporary residence far from this area.

Anyway, my research also indicates that El Poblado may be one of the fanciest and active hoods, but it is not the only one safe, walkable, and with plenty of places to have fun. The more I read @tassojunior's dislike for Calle 57, the more tempted I am to look for a place to stay in that area.

Poblado is very large. The antisex tourism campaign is primarily around Parque Lleras which is the party hub.  If you stay in Poblado but 15-20 min walk away from Lleras you shouldn’t have problems bringing guys back unless you are staying at a very very nice place.

I do not think it is going to happen. I am back and forth with myself, and I have already changed my mind several times, so this may change again. Right now, I feel like I should not go to a new place during the pandemic. I would not get the authentic experience and my attitude towards that place would probably remain tainted forever by that first impression.

If I travel, right now the most chances are for Rio.

I’ve been back and forth to medellin a few times recently. It’s not any less fun due to pandemic. And probably safer than Rio — as vaccination rates are fairly high (comparatively) about 50% of country has one dose.

This has the flavour of a work-intensive unicorn search.

Trainers in Brazil must have a Phys Ed Bachelor’s. It is hard for them to work as independents because most gyms come with their own staff and they are territorial;  and often not male, gay, or attractive.

I have gone to day-pass gyms with a fitness guy and the gym really scrutinizes whether your gym buddy is training you versus with you. They seem also perhaps to worry about liability if they do not thwart somebody assuming a training role without having been vetted.

Why do they need to be qualified for you? Don’t you ever work out on your own? You could work out together as friends. Lots of physique guys escort.

For Lagoa, if you are into the search required, you can cast the net online, eg Instagram, and ask hotties if they will be your paid guest at the little gym-room there. They may bite, or be curious. Or they may grasp your agenda and suggest a better venue because the sauna gym does absolutely suck … though it is so bad you might agree on exploring other amenities in private there.

But don’t expect a fellow to explicitly declare being a homosexual trainer prostitute. You might get two out of three of those criteria met. Most hot gay trainers have boyfriends and do not escort. The trainers with girlfriends compartmentalize so it’s not non-monogamish.

I can work out on my own, but I prefer working out with a trainer or at CrossFit gym, because all the workouts are guided with trainers. I get much better workouts and I push myself harder.  So… I always hire trainers. And yep, I prefer a trainer who is actually a trainer not an escort with a good body, but there is often crossover.

also, I don’t mind working out at the park or hotel gyms. Agree many gyms in SA (and in US) don’t have great trainers. Best are almost always independent and affiliated with a personal training gym, CrossFit gym, or train folks in their home.

I think I’ve found a trainer in Colombia.

    Thanks for touch points guys.

Enlighten us about this train-and-more of which you speak.

    Any similar gyms in Brazil?

Jaja. Not rocket science.  I’ve always worked out with trainers. Often times trainers escort on the side or — if they are attracted — play after a workout.

Finding the ven diagram overlap of a good trainer and a gay escort or guy willing to play isn’t always easy — so was asking for tips from folks that have traveled as I am frequenting these 3 locations more often now…

  12. Hi guys, I prefer working out with trainers, even when traveling. Anyone have recommendations on how to find gay trainers while traveling, particularly in Colombia, Mexico and Brasil?  Would not mind a train (and more) situation. 🤑  I typically do a drop in at a CrossFit gym and find one that way, but they are never gay and the “and more” is def not on the table. Note: I do want the guy to be an actual fitness trainer tho, not just someone with a good body.

I am researching airbnbs in Medellin. Some of them, in the house rules, explicit forbid visitors in order to avoid sex tourism and procuring. Is this a formal legal wonder that no one cares about? Should I avoid these places?

Thank you to the Medellin connoisseurs!

Avoid those places if you want to regularly have guests.  If you stay right in Parque Lleras o Parque Poblano you’re going to have issue with doormen cracking down on sex tourism.  If you stay a bit outside it gets a bit better. But I’d recommend asking up front if you can have friends over and what are the rules. Even outside of Lleras area, You’ll def have to have guests show ids at nearly all places but this isn’t really an issue with guys in Medellin — everyone is used to it.

DM me and I can help a bit. Also Macdaddi knows a lot about Medellin.

  14. Pay no mind to @Slvkguyhe speaks so negatively about Miami, and generalizes about all Miami men — and as a Miami Beach guy, I can say his version of Miami is not what I experience, living here.

Miami scene is way more than the beach.  You have Wynwood which is always slammed and a lot of fun. Little Havana, Little River and Brickell have cool bars and lots of pop up warehouse parties.  Not to knock FTL, but it doesn’t have the vibe or the swag of Miami hot spots.  Hit up any bar in Wynwood or head to Space, 11, Palace, the basement at the Edition, Blackbird Ordinary, the Wood, Swan, Soho House, Deuces, or Nandos and Komodo after hours.... or this weekends pop-up cocktail lounge promoted by a celeb or promoter...

@Slvkguyis right that FTL is traditional gay, it’s a scene is focused on oddly lit gay bars in strip malls, playing gay pop anthems mixed with club dance DJ sets, the kind of place that always need a good cleaning and the kind of place we’ve already spent so much of our lives in...  guys in muscle tees or sparkly tank tops, cargo shorts and flip flops.

Miami’s scene is mixed, restaurants turned to night clubs after hours, gays and straights dancing together, hanging together, cruising and flirting together...  it’s vibier, way sexier and I think a lot more fun.

and no, all Miami gays don’t go to FTL for the weekend.  You go up maybe once every 5 or 6 weeks, when a friend wants to hit the bear bar in FTL (there isn’t a good one in Miami) or a friend just got dumped and wants boys night — outside of Miami.

Nobody in Miami hates the gay scene in Miami. If we did we’d move, FTL is a lot cheaper and only 30 mins away.  Gays who live in Miami think it’s head and shoulders above FTL.  It’s just a very different scene — and just cuz SlvkGuy doesn’t like it doesn’t mean the rest of the rest of the gay world feels the same. Most of my friends from other places in US all hit up Miami, not FTL...

I unexpectedly have a week free in early April and was thinking of making a trip to Medellin but gather from the State Department’s website that I will be required to quarantine when I arrive.  Is this true?  Has anybody been to Medellin recently?  I very much want to try Club Tobie.

I only have one week free and live in eastern United States.  If Medellin isn’t an option due to quarantine restrictions, does anybody have a suggestion as to where I should go?

Did you end up making travel arrangements?
