This is my first time to Brazil but I have been to many other Latin American countries and live in one.

As a twink, bottom boy, lover I can assure you that there are more than enough in Sao Paulo to satisfy ANYONE! I was concerned at first but so far after 4 nights I have had 3 nights of sex with what I like....had to relax last night however, lol. I use Grind mostly and you will find everything there...rent boys, sugar babies, guys looking for relationships, and guys looking for sex with anyone, lol.

Of course I visited Lagoa...but there was only one twink and he was getting dressed...since I brought one with me I didn't bother him. I went to Lagoa expecting what I saw...the hairy (mostly) muscled boys with big cocks that that posters here mostly enjoy....I wasn't expecting to see anyone I would like but there was that one surprise.

I also visited Chili Pepper...it was a nice, clean and large locals sauna...great if you like these. I just was on a exploring mission and it was fine.

I'm staying in Republica near the park in a nice airbnb condo suggested by a few here. It's a great place.

There is one thing that was a surprise...the incredible street poverty. I have seen a lot of poverty in the world and frequently it is concentrated to certain neighborhoods usually. This seems to be everywhere, here in Republica at least. But, it's in my city of Portland, Oregon just in tents and somewhat hidden I guess.

I do not feel safe walking at night in the area...but I don't need to anyway.

I went back to Lagoa on Tuesday night and discovered 3 twinks to my surprise. Two were definitely gay and one was a 5'4", smooth, toned, stunning-faced 20 year old...I sat with him and his gay friend and then all three of us went out for the evening of drinks, eats and a nightclub...took the boy I mentioned above to the condo for the night and said goodbye to the third wheel, lol. He performed as advertised even though he is versatile.

So, they are available there....just not in abundance.

Interesting report @topjohn5 So what do you do about going out for drinks and to eat dinner?

There are two gay bars in this same block and several restaurants and grocery stores nearby...I also use uber and went to a nice Japanese restaurant...Uber works great for traveling. Since I don't speak the language a taxi is difficult especially after hearing all the chatter when a native was dealing with them, lol. I'm in Setin Downtown Republica. There is also a subway entrance in the same block.

are that the "average" chaturbate-boys or some of the "5 Star guys"...:D

Not exactly sure what that means...As I've stated before I'm not interested in Macho hunks or masculine tops or muscular manly guys...if those are 5-star to you I understand but, they aren't my type.

  5. 15 hours ago, Alex_Berl said:

    so u could meet them?

Yes, I have 5 long dates setup with some Chaturbate guys...with one I'm traveling to Medellin and Guatape, another Bogota and surrounding spots, another to Santa Marta, then another to Cartagena and the last to San Andres...the San Andres boy is perfect, lol.

Actually I believe they do charge a 1% foreign transaction fee: https://www.fidelity.com/cash-management/faqs-atm-debit-card

Good to know about the various options though.

What's confusing is each card is issued by a different bank but they all try to discuss the rules of the other bank and have no idea the rules...then Fidelity has attempted to teach their people at the brokerage firm the rules as well...I got wrong answers all-around. What is worse is the stuff printed...I have no idea why some of it is wrong. So, since I was moving out of the country I just go them all and tested them.

The federal disclosure is correct that comes with each card, lol...that they did get right!

  7. 1 minute ago, topjohn5 said:

Nope...not the cash management debit card...but some others due charge that at fidelity...I've been using it a year now and no charges at all. There customer service people do not know the products and their advertising on the websites is not accurate. I finally had to just get all four cards and test them.

Some are different in country and out...I have tested both in and out...

Fidelity cash management debit card charges no exchange fee, no atm charges and reimburses the other banks fees at the end of the month...no limit.

Oh, and don't let them tell you that the fidelity regular debit card or their credit card does the same thing....it doesn't...I have them all and tested them. Only the cash management debit card does it...and it's free.

I have the Schwab card as a backup also.

Agree it’s best to use an ATM (try to use one in a bank lobby, during the day for best safety). An exchange kiosk at a mall or airport is giving to be a far worse rate most likely even after accounting for ATM fees. You can check with your bank to see if they have any partnerships with Brazilian banks to waive ATM fees.

For Americans - I highly recommend signing up for a Charles Schwab checking account - it’s completely free with no minimum balance and they offer unlimited reimbursement of ATM operator fees worldwide. I just keep a nominal amount in it for withdrawals while traveling and top it up from my main bank via Zelle as needed.

MANY Airbnb units in this bldg. Is fairly new and I've never had problems bringing a guy back even though their rules want passports/id of any other gsts or visitors.

I like Republica the most....I've stayed in the place on this listing, is very nice....

They are building a new tower next door, so I don't know how the construction noise is, when I was there last, I stayed in an apt on the back side, no park view but no noticeable noise.

Super comfortable beds, great internet, black out curtains, great a/c, views from the roof top pool are amazing.

Thanks! I'm staying in one of these units.

What I noticed, @topjohn5, and similarly if you indeed noticed your own post history, was a rather fragmented list of topics/questions on your part, most of which already have oodles of extant answers on this board, as well as your input viz your preferred “type” (usually vague at best and that goes for everyone) … then recently an implicit grousing about whether you would find them other than at escort sites.

Since the very few sauna venues is such basic info and I actually read your other posts, how actually off page was I being in attempting to integrate your agenda clues and offer some direction, in thinking about making an effort though actually rather futile to stratify venues in keeping with your general sexual interaction goals?

But then I made the effort to grasp your playbook, to be hospitable, while it’s apparent you might want all the info repeated on a silver platter rather than taking a few very worthwhile hours to gather the reams of info at your fingertips here to help you curate your visit. And yes, hours, attributable to the phenomenon of groundhog-day infinite repetition of the same questions and over-accommodation in the same answers. This over-accommodation by some paradoxically enhances the daunting prospect of a one-sitting scroll-and-discover on the part of newbies. And lack of consensus about material organization just exacerbates it. Thank Gawd for the pandemic in this regard offering redactive respite.

Then you further define the exact terms of reference for a contributor to answer an open-ended question after the fact. Sheesh. Good luck with your trip. Or should I perhaps say good luck to the horizon.

I unexpectedly discovered the closest to the (your) real thing this weekend, as my blinders typically screen out particular inventory types, but there are too few venues to prevent tripping across it and a turned up nose might be the anticipated response given some of the general provider criteria you alluded to.

I suggest you read the relevant site topics and later pound the tiles with your flip flops like the rest of us, the hunt sometimes half the fun. You’re not the central character in Death in Venice  so it could be a good time.

Do you talk like that in real life?

Oh, dates lined up with twinks that are more homosexual than “quasi-gay” [sic], I believe? I wouldn’t particularly recommend any single sauna venue so the details of those places may be moot and the type prevalence is not very much matched with specific nights. The same types of providers proliferate across time within a given venue.

If you notice I never asked which saunas had my tastes...i only asked a general question about which ones were open still, dates to go and times to go...never discussed the kind of guys there...

Jesus Fucking Christ. These questions have been answered here in the past few months by at least 3 recent and regular travelers, including me, and 2 additional new ones.

    Wht should we repeat ourselves?

That’s what the search function is for

LOL, it's truly amazing people get all worked up about a question. It really is unimportant to say anything if you don't want to answer...just ignore it.

I doubt sincerely that there will be anything interesting for my tastes at these saunas anyway from the descriptions of quasi-gay, gay-for-pay manly guys that mostly ply the saunas.  I will go check them out to be sure though and maybe get lucky.

On my last trip (Nov 2021) I purchased a one year eSIM package from 3HK. 8 GB + 5 GB social (WhatsApp/FB etc) for about $34 USD. The plan is data-only but I was able to use my regular US cellular plan that has WiFi calling/texting to make/receive calls etc using the data from the plan as a WiFi network essentially.

I used ~2GB during my 10 day trip (being somewhat conscientious to conserve data and be on WiFi whenever possible).

It’s certainly cheaper to get a Brazilian SIM but I just wanted something that I knew would work right away without needing to visit a mall or navigate using a fake CPF number and Portuguese phone menu to activate. Plus, I still have 6 GB for future trips to Brazil or really any conceivable place I might travel in South America or elsewhere. Activation was super easy and I was up and running within 5 mins of landing at GRU.

Note that traffic is routed through Hong Kong - I used a VPN to encrypt my data out of extra precaution.

https://www.three.com.hk/prepaid/DIY/en/offer/travel (note that prices on the site are in Hong Kong Dollars - the 365 day global plan for 268 HKD is what I bought and came to ~$34 USD. Use a CC with no foreign transaction fees if possible)

    That is perfect, Thanks!

It is not unreasonable for a newbie to seek clarification on the sauna scene. I have been to Brazil 9 times although, for obvious reasons, not for a few years. The scene has changed dramatically in that time. In São Paulo Fragata moved the closed  and Lagoa changed address. Information has been provided on this forum but I have sympathy for someone new absorbing it all.

Thanks! I read a lot of posts but it seems to change a lot. I have seen the busy days posted and the note about the weekend not being busy. I thought there was only one sauna left in SP from the posts...but you mention another...it is confusing, lol. Also people do not agree on the busy days.

I have read nothing about the time of day to go yet but I'm sure it is there somewhere, lol/

I can put a word in for the Hotel Diamond, which is on the main street around the corner from the 117, probably about 4-5 min walk from there. It's a highrise, somewhat dated but respectable, I think it was about 30 USD last time I stayed there pre-pandemic. As a high rise with lots of people coming and going, visitors are free to walk by, no problem. Fridge in the rooms added bonus

...visitors are free to walk by...lol...I'm confused. Can visitors stay overnight and have you done that?
