Anyone stayed at the Chiang Mai Treehouse?

Recommended Posts

I would be wary of a low temperature risk, as advised above.

The buildings probably have no insulation and minimal draughtproofing.   Timber will retain less heat from the day.   Whilst you can build snug timber houses, I would not be betting on that in Thailand.    So if you also get a cold spell, it could be mildly uncomfortable.

I was very uncomfortable in a hotel in Phonsovan, Laos, when staying a couple of years ago.   That's on a similar latitude, but also suffers from 1000m altitude.   The hotel didn't have very good draught proofing and had thin bedding.   I rolled up the door mat and used it to close the huge gap under the door leading to the balcony.   I wore thermals in bed.    At least my south facing room warmed up slightly during the day.   I dread to think what the north facing rooms were like.

Chiang Mai was quite comfortable when I visited back in January this year, but that was under normal weather conditions, not a cold spell.   Plus a nice south facing apartment.

Since those treehouses don't have an altitude issue, I suspect you would be OK, but pack some warm clothing just in case it gets slightly chilly.

Never saw that place that I recall but I have somewhat toured the area (including the nearby dam and reservoir).  From my memory, there basically isn't much of anything around there and it sure is a long way from town.  Likely a pretty place but way too far from town for my tastes.  I presume the resort will make transportation available but it won't be fast and you surely won't find any songteaws anywhere near there.

I drive so I wouldn't rely on their transportation. I have been to Chiang Mai 100 times and love it. But, I'd be going more to stay at this place than to visit Chiang Mai a lot.
