While there is alot more "traffic" elsewhere,  the responses often tend to be "preachy and condescending"....   Many respondents (especially the escorts)  fancy themselves EXPERTS and will often discount comments of others, or "overspeak" them....  Some will write long, rambling dissertations.  (you know, the MORE words the more convincing, right ?)    So MORE is not always better.  It boils down to the quality of the post,  its honesty and sincerity, presentation and content.   A post made simply to show you are better or more knowledgeable than someone else is a post NOT WORTH HAVING....

What got me banned was the following chain of events:  It began with me, essentially, hijacking my own thread -- 'The Organ' in the arts forum.

Thank you for the synopsis, AdamSmith. It's sounds like another "breakdown" event from "over there."

B is a drama queen, and most likely a control freak. These are common ailments in the gay community. B sounds more desperate than ever, and he's no longer shy about sharing his desperate state. It really is difficult to see how that board can last. Life tends to get more difficult as we age. If cash flow is tight, whatever money you can get your hands on will go to the bare necessities, which need to be paid first. The financial future there does not hold promise. Many people claim privately that B is a mess, but they foolishly think the board will last forever. Nothing does.

I noticed recently someone reorganized the Comedy & Tragedy Forum. Some cleaning nutcase, probably high on some fierce ganja, felt she had to go in and completely reorganize a closet. And she picked the Comedy & Tragedy Forum to make her mark.

Closets are a great exercise in control. You get to pick and choose what goes where, and nobody can tell you otherwise. Forum design is nothing more than someone's closet.

Many computer users feel they need to create a folder for every word or phrase they think of. After awhile, too many folders get created, and you can't find the simple information you're looking for. It's no longer fun to enter the closet and deal with its content. After the reorganization, I stopped visiting the Comedy & Tragedy forum. I had to dig too deep to find the information I wanted to read.

IMO, the name Comedy & Tragedy should have simply been changed to THE ARTS. No sub forums were necessary. Let the titles of the threads speak for themselves. Simple and easy. But no, some control-freak queen had to reorganize a closet and build new sub-folders, and force everybody else to succumb to her reorganization effort. That's the way a control freak behaves. In the meantime, she left out Dance: Modern, Ballet, and Jazz. She left out Art, Design, and Architecture. And she left out Books and Music. IMO, she can go fuck herself with her incomplete, amateurish organization skills.

Truthfully speaking, some queens can't get enough folder configurations. They like the new forum folders and probably want more. It offers the board addicts more places to play. When it comes to design, I'm a less-is-more kind of guy. Keep things SIMPLE. Too many categories = distracting CLUTTER. I hate a messy house. I understand you may need some categories, but certain boards take their closet clutter too seriously.

It seemed to start getting a bit dry, so I started posting stuff that seemed funny to me.

AdamSmith, isn't that what a personal blog is for? A public forum is not intended to be your personal blog. B cuts a lot of leeway, because he doesn't know how to properly run a successful board. He never has and never will. To run a board successfully, you need to know how to manage personalities. You need moderators you can teach. You need to be willing to put in the work. B has none of the skills required to run a successful board. You get what exists. Period. And numerous queens take advantage of B's incompetence and lazy ways, much like we take advantage of Oz with threads about the "other place."

Gradually broadening out to things like the Harold Hecubah episode of Gilligan's Island and so on. Then eventually to comedy clips from TV etc that were not even musical.

Again, what was your point to clutter a music thread with useless noise and bandwidth waste? B allows this shit, and users get away with it, most of the time.

Personally, I think the video clips and the gifs should be kept to a minimum to conserve bandwidth, unless the owner charges a membership fee. They should not be used to clutter the place with noise or used to throw snark at other members. Gifs are for cheap-shooter trolls who think they're clever, entertainment masters. They're not. They're a bunch of lazy pussies, IMO, who can't use their brains to express an original thought.

That, for some strange reason, prompted moderator Cooper to start cutting the 'non-music' posts out of that thread, and re-posting them in a new thread 'The Organ Alternative' or some such that he created in the General forum.

Good luck trying to figure out the "for some strange reason." Control would be my answer. You cluttered your thread with useless, off-topic noise, and some control-freak queen freaked out and went on a cleaning rampage. ("No more wire hangers!")

14 hours ago, AdamSmith said:

Of course that prompted me to redouble my posting of funny mass-culture trash in my original Organ thread. That in turn drove B to ban me for a day. I wrote him an incensed PM asking Why? He wrote back, in effect, you hurt Cooper's feelings.

Everyone who follows you, AdamSmith, knows you can be obstinate and button-pushing, among all your finer traits. Throwing more fuel on a fire creates a larger flame. You are an adult and should know this by now.

Being banned for a day is a warning: "DON'T FUCK WITH MY CLOSET!" Was it really necessary to get "incensed" over a day's banning? (They used to make me chuckle.)

From everything I've seen, I think Cooper is a pussy. Several men have met him off-board and claim to like him. I trust some of these men, and I realize you can't fully judge a man's character by his forum personality. However, what I see is a Republican-voting queen who gets off on sticking dollar bills in male stripper's ass cracks. It's a disturbing vision.

I responded with a blistering PM saying how utterly stupid, not to say commercially suicidal, that was to put an 'employee's' feelings and interests above those of the site's 'clients.'

I shortly followed up with an even more hotly worded PM about how the original HooBoy had been able to ride pretty effective herd over, in those days, a vastly more rowdy and noisome -- also far more intelligent -- crowd of posters

Calling B, or anybody, "stupid" is not a smart way to win anyone over to your side of an argument or debate. Again, you surprise me, AdamSmith.

B will tolerate a queen's "hot words" up to a point. Like I keep saying over and over again, every queen has her limits.

For that, I was banned, and blocked to boot.

Since your fans know your way with words, AdamSmith, I shudder to think how it must have felt to be on the receiving end of your wrath. I'm sure I would have personally enjoyed your emotionally charged slap-fest with B, but given your verdict, I can only assume B did not. And you got the boot. He showed you who's BOSS of his site.

As Lucky and I can reassure you, life goes on after B's rejection. In the scheme of things, it's small potatoes. He's a very small entity.

As gay men who enjoy the repartee of other gay men, especially gay men who enjoy the company of escorts, we're never going to be fully satisfied until someone creates a true gentleman's club, owned and operated by a true gentleman. Didn't your mother ever tell you, a good man is hard to find?

Mr Hard,

And some people use these boards because they obviously enjoy hearing THEMSELVES speak, uninterrupted.   While opinions are always welcome, was it really necessary to DISSECT Adam's post ???    NO it wasnt....  If you are trying to impress us with your knowledge of Guy Fucks,  who the fuck cares ?   We can all draw our own conclusions from our Personal dealings with him, and dont need a course into the psyche of Daddy...   Rocky, i know you love to shake things up when you decide to grace us with your presence and expertise on EVERYTHING,  but your Steven Kesslar style post here is off-putting, and to use your own words "a waste of Bandwidth"....    You obviously also have some obsession with Daddy, and hold some sour grapes about your exile, but instead of just admitting that,  you assault us with this bullshit, a useless tutorial about a person not worthy of our time.    For a person who claims to know "B" so well  (who the fuck calls him B?) , it certainly didnt serve you well or save your Ass over there.   So who's laughing now ?

BTW, you have some great ideas for a simple, straightforward and focused site...  I suggest you go start one !  :bye:

An extraordinarily odd way of misperceiving my motive and intent.

A performative was none of my aim with those PMs. Only to let Her Majesty know my thoughts about how she was (is) running down the site, and my indignance at her treatment of me and other prolific (and I thought valuable) posters.

Let the chips fall where they may.

As they did. To my, as remarked above, great good benefit.

P.S. You are critiquing what you know is pretty much my modus operandi: find something I find funny, then push it beyond all reasonable limits.

You find some pretty interesting stuff once you persevere all the way out there to Devil's Reef and beyond. ;)

Extraordinarily odd? Really?

These are your words:

"I responded with a blistering PM saying how utterly stupid, not to say commercially suicidal, that was to put an 'employee's' feelings and interests above those of the site's 'clients.'

I shortly followed up with an even more hotly worded PM..."

Granted, I didn't actually see the PMs. But am I wrong about the perception of the words in bold? I don't think so.

I trust you know best about your motive and intent. I'm simply responding to the information, the words, you offered.

Really sorry to hear the backstory, AdamSmith, but thanks for letting us know.  All I knew was that there was an empty hat where a rabbit used to be.  And not just any rabbit, but one who could pull himself out of the hat.

You're definitely missed and I hope you won't mind the odd* fan who shadows you over here.

I think any effective action would need to happen behind the scenes. Most people, especially forum owners, don't react well to loss of face.

To possibly belabor this too far, the only action I sought to achieve with those PMs was to help His Highness to understand how his, and his minions', overbearing and witless moderation, and general Miss Grundy-ness, were ruining what had once been a great community asset.

Not to get reinstated. The opposite!

I was referring to the petition, not to your PMs.

Recently a forum member sent me a link to a particularly amusing thread from years ago that he wanted me to see. It was without a doubt one of the funniest things I have ever read. It went on forever. I have to say that the level of discourse far exceeded anything that is over there today. I'm not sure how or when the forum deteriorated, but I can understand your frustration in the level of stupidity, myself excluded of course...;)

I disagree, Fluffy. I think I brought the issue in a way that was not defiant. When I call B at the beginning of my post it is, I understand, a sign of respect.

Also, when you do things in the open, it brings more traffic. ^_^

The wording is definitely not defiant. Regardless, any petition sends the message "These people think you screwed up." That's the loss of face I was referring to.

It appears that I'm the only one who sees it this way though.
