Doing business anywhere in East Asia (really anywhere, for that matter) requires some learning of local custom, and how to respect and follow it. To do what they did is shameful and disrespectful. There is even a sign leaving the airport that talks about how the Buddha is not a collectable but a symbol for the Thai people. When in Rome.....
