  1. which is not necessarily bad thing as some people may feel more secure in familiar environment but I still advise everybody travelling no matter where to avoid such ghettos and try local experience and for gay traveler Silom seems to be such place in BKK
  2. The Venue in Jomtien complex has big comfortable rooms and show every night, In Boyztown are I second z909 recommendation for Classrooms, big room and separate entry by-passing bar and reception. Baan Souy between Jomtien and Pattaya is great option, quiet side soi but close to the main drag and motorsais available on the corner 7/24
  3. I like Hot Male outside bar and it's hosts even if they are mostly twinky types but friendly
  4. since you seem to be too shy to admit let me do it for you , you are young Asian
  5. It's much cleaner now, commercial enough as expected for such area but I don't fly whole day to Asia to be in crowd of other farang I can see plenty from my window at home
  6. I got the same idea for a reason but in my eyes it doesn't make it less insane. I'm not holding it against them and the same with US idiocies you mentioned and I encountered there too in liquor stores because I'm not in either country and once was reprimanded at work for not checking ID of client I'm working with at least 15 years. My explanation for that negligence was a bit less standardized as I said to then boss" I only look stupid, I know him since XXth century"
  7. That's great to be on right side of equation. But if would be greater if we can say ' otherwise everybody has insurance which covers just about everything "
  8. one of reasons I don't go there is that I was well over 40 and they still wanted to see my ID so I decided no to frequent place with obvious shortage of oxygen. Hopefully now they are more reasonable
  9. work like any other and much less dusty than in the fields
  10. I did not know Theresa May was also prime minister in late 70-ties, an eye opener for me !
  11. Now clear, it was Smart, who would think ?
  12. food in Bangkok is everywhere and street / market one is cheap and tasty. Since OP is staying in Silom area it's good to remind that Foodland Patpong has cheap 65 baht breakfast between 5.30 and 9
  13. I wish you luck and I'd do the same even if you forget about whole gay thing. Simply Silom has much better transport options because it's more centrally located. Only thing Kao San is better positioned it's Grand Palace but now with new MRT / underground / line passing by Wat Po it's easy to get to that area even from Silom, going by river may take bit longer but it much more scenic
  14. that's too optimistic
  15. welcome to the forum and have a nice trip chances are by Sunday's midnight you will not be virgin anymore but remember to play safe . If you stay in Khao San area ( why? lots of cheap digs in Silom / Suriwong area too ) make sure you are not trying to bring guy to multibed room you are staying so make sure you have some private digs. Some people staying in your hotel may be bit homophobic so be discreet, Khao san is backpacker area but not exactly gay backpacker one.
  16. In now defunct Happy Boys around the corner from Sunee I noticed that guy sitting amorously on my lap took some interest in my shirt pockets so quite promising session was halted and my lap unburdened. But it was only such case I had in LOS. I always keep cash in money belt inside my underwear and rarely they demand to take it off. When they do I also try to place it inside of backpack. Never problem leaving Thailand a EMPTY money belt is already in the checked luggage if any.
  17. that would be very audacious although not impossible . It brings to the light another warning: From my backpacking days I recall that is was and most likely still is common wisdom that not locals but other travelers are main threat when comes to theft or other forms of financial abuse like borrowing small amount of money to pay for lunch because they forgot a wallet and you, their neigbour from the same hotel floor happened to be dinning in the same venue. Of course in the evening one learned that they already left. I was such unlucky lender twice in places as remote as Bam in Iran and Easter Island but shockingly enough in both cases culprits were Swiss, nation not exactly famous for dishonesty nor poverty. There was also happy ending, on Easter Island I caught them in the airport before they checked in, retrieved my money just for fun and all it was 5000 pesos , then 12.50 USD
  18. I'd not be so sure. While it's definitely very generous tip and well above the market those guys know much , much better than us how much they can command when they are in their prime. I had cases, some even reported in my reports already, when guys rejected or relented on very generous offers. I liked one particularly blunt explanation ' I don't want long time, I want to sleep because I have off almost every night". market economy , among other things, means that some consumers , no matter how well of may still be priced out of certain market segments. But for those who feel some guys are out of their reach I have two consolations - low season makes them more accommodating and with time even best are losing their luster, if only because novelty value wears off even if they look as fabulous as always. After all one can off A, B , C or D may times but only once for a first time.

  20. nothing wrong with that type of bars and I wouldn't be surprised if they were more ubiquitous than we even suspect. Gender equality means , among other things that if we are looking for men so will girls
  21. I'm pretty sure it will lift living standards of working poor immensely, now wait for screams from business circles that such generous proposal will put country on the brink of recession and will lead to collapse of baht to a joy of travelling farangs. Now I wonder if Moonlight models will start demand 5006 baht instead of 5000 they wished to get so far for their company ?
  22. and off fee 40 $ = 1200 baht , Moonlight models now sound as good deal
