Perhaps you may seen this week the very sad case of the 25 year old Japanese AV star who went into porn work in order to finance her obsession with a Japanese host, and ended up killing herself in his apartment. I personally like this approach better. My first off from any bar was an awful one. Guy was not to my taste at all but I felt obliged because he was right in my face as soon as I walked into the bar, grinning, winking, waving from the stage. I was a self conscious newbie, got pushed around by mamasan and boy both. Now I like the boy to stare straight ahead - not at me - until I decide to engage.

For yogurts and fresh produce I prefer not to go to convenience stores. The Tops Food Hall at Dusit Central Park is mind boggling. They have a wine section, champagne bar and also the fancy “food court” with a carving station for roasts, alongside brisket, lasagnas, roasted vegetables, sausages and more. Though I have only tried the one in Central Pattaya since there is too much choice food-wise in Central Park.

@aaroninatl a man after my own heart. In my bar whoring days, too often I raided the hotel mini bar in the wee hours of the morning only to be presented with an unpleasant bill on check out. I remember one evening a boy and I drank 8 bottles of Chang beer (small size) ….at hotel prices. The final total could have purchased a bottle of whisky. Now I make sure to stock up at the start of each trip. I get a mixture of snacks depending what I’m in the mood for and what boy du jour may enjoy. Recently have been leaning towards Thai snacks such as rice crackers with pork floss and banana chips….or these Japanese cheese-flavoured rice crackers , which are disgustingly addictive. Occasionally I investigate the Thailand-only Lays flavours….I hear there is now durian Lays. I didn’t try the famous toasties until recently and prefer the croissant-style ones too A twink friend taught me how to drink Jinro mixed with Betagen, apparently very popular among the boys especially the Cambodians. It also can give you diarrhoea. I see the appeal as barboys never get enough fibre in their diet so it’s a colonic cleanse while getting drunk. Another habit I picked up from the boys…. “Mansome” vitamin drink, containing collagen, zinc, Vitamins C, E and other things to make you mansome-r. There’s a whole range of these drinks and they’re extremely popular. I also get canned coffee. I’m an early riser, hotel coffee is swill, coffee shops aren’t open yet, and I refuse to pay 200 baht or whatever it costs at Starbucks for an iced Americano. Usually just Nespresso zero sugar black Arabica.

It is not reverting to the old layout for me. My main gripes with this format are that the main page shows only the single most recently updated post (or 2 posts max) within a 3 hour time span and I have to click through other sub forums to see updated threads. On the old layout it automatically showed when each sub forum had a new post or reply. Also that it is much harder to find and click through to the last post in the multi-page threads. Seems to default to the very first page/post

@aaroninatl how’s the weather in Samui now it’s transitioning into rainy season? My understanding is that September can be a bit of a shoulder month. A couple of years ago I visited in late October, weather wasn’t terrible but likely wouldn’t do it again.

The Sun has reported that young Russian men working in Pattaya's nightlife district say they left home partly because they fear being called up to fight in Ukraine. The newspaper spoke to Sam, 23, from Moscow, and Ilya, 25, from St Petersburg, at a club on Walking Street. Both said they preferred work in Pattaya to the prospect of military service in Russia. Sam, who had arrived in Pattaya three weeks earlier after first going to Bangkok, performs as a pole dancer at the venue. He said people his age were frightened they could be sent to fight and said he had buried friends and relatives during the war. "Everything is so hard back home and every one of my age is terrified that they will be sent to fight," Sam told The Sun. He said he believed the conflict would not end until 2034, without explaining why he expected it to last that long. I give him the odd 30 seconds here and there because of how earnest he is but I don’t find his content great…too many sponsored reviews and his “the best in Bangkok” are not the best, neither are his “hidden gems” hidden nor gems but the usual places covered by foreign influencers.

$10 a day covers 3 meals a day and then some in the countryside. In Phnom Penh a basic office salary is $400-600 a month. An ex-regular of mine is in a tough situation (long story but this is the first time he’s asked in over 2 years) and needed some help even paying for food, so I sent him $200 last week. I calculated this should tide him over 2 weeks since he is staying with friends at the moment. When I was in Koh Samui recently I saw a job offer for a kitchen hand at 12,000 baht per month. Wages in Thailand aren’t much higher. I will add that the intention for this position was clearly to be fulfilled by some desperate, uneducated Myanmar citizen fleeing the civil war. Lamai is actually very popular for travellers who want to avoid the overly touristic and congested hub of Chaweng and experience what’s closer to the real Koh Samui. Probably not at all good for finding gay nightlife though.

150% correct. A friend of mine decided to stay in an ultra luxury riverside hotel in Bangkok and wanted to treat himself to a Grindr hookup . After opening the app to his horror he discovered all his sparse hits were from very unattractive guys residing in the surrounding, poorer riverside area. He hightailed it back to Silom. The hotel was luxury but the boys were not.

I was on the Gulf islands recently. The people I saw were in descending order White people Myanmar people, receptionists, waiters, bellboys, chefs, basically every service role Thai people, few and far between A smattering of Asian and other tourists If I closed my eyes I could imagine I was in Magaluf or Brisbane

I’ve always felt trepidation about booking Airbnb since they’re not exactly legal for short stays but they’re certainly cost efficient if nothing goes wrong. Plus I like having a bit more space and staying in a more residential location. Would you recommend it?
