tm_nyc reacted to FunFifties in Cairo Report (September 2026)After Cairo, I went to Siwa Oasis. It’s an eight hour drive from Cairo on a minibus during the night, I guess to avoid the desert sun. I am tall, so not exactly a comfortable ride, but experiencing Siwa was well worth it.
Siwa seems to exist outside time and place with friendly and laid back people who make a living like their ancestors thousands of years ago growing dates and olives and mining salt. Caravans have been replaced by tourists and ancient temples and fortresses have seen better days, but it’s a great place to slow down and escape modern life for a while.
I stayed four days, and as I had expected, nothing really happened in terms of hook ups. There were a few messages on Grindr, but I was the only guest at the hotel I was staying in, so it would have been difficult to be discreet.
Back in Cairo I enjoyed my last day there with a very nice young man I had connected with on Grindr before going to Siwa. He preferred to meet in an Airbnb, instead of at the Marriott. I was happy to spend less on my last night, so I booked one near the airport that he suggested.
It was a nice little studio apartment with key box check in and no security. The apartment next door was also a holiday rental, but other than that it seemed like a middle class residential building.
I had a wonderful time in Egypt, and would really like to go again soon.

tm_nyc reacted to floridarob in Panama City- PanamaIt's there, but not in the quantity and ease or D.R. or Brasil..... but variety is good....
Since Copa is the major carrier to PTY, do what I do..... incorporate it into a trip going/coming from SDQ, Colombia or Brasil .....2 trips for the price of one.
Copa allows stopovers for days at like a $50usd increase in ticket price. I do a lot of 24 hr stopovers which doesn't increase the price of the ticket.

tm_nyc reacted to Foolish in Western breakfast buffet ?If you stay at 56 surawong, they have an offer now. Breakfast at Ruenton in Montien Hotel for 400bt. Quite a good deal if you are into breakfast.

tm_nyc reacted to hank75 in Western breakfast buffet ?+1 for Le Meridien
But I find hotel buffets overrated and expensive if they’re not free with the room
I’d rather go to a good breakfast place or specialty cafe like Rocket coffee bar, or Fran’s at Central Park. You can even order breakfast on Grab. Many cafe options near Saladaeng BTS. I don’t mind Coffee Club, it gets the job done though standard varies according to location.
Foodland is perfectly fine and excellent value. In fact I usually get a Thai dish rather than Western.

Although it's not for sale at this time, another iconic Hollywood Hills home of that era in the 90046 zip code is the Chemosphere. Also somewhat impractical, in that it can only be accessed via a funicular, and also with a perhaps precarious architecture, this house at least has three, not two, bedrooms. On Zillow, the house has a Zestimate of $2.5 million, which is more in line with what I suspect the Stahl house is worth. I think the Stahls must be insane if they think they can get $20 million, much less $25 million for their house (the original asking price).
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chemosphere
"The Chemosphere is a modernist house at 7776 Torreyson Drive in Los Angeles, California, designed by John Lautner in 1960. The building, which the Encyclopædia Britannica once called "the most modern home built in the world", is admired both for the ingenuity of its solution to the problem of the site and for its unique octagonal design...".

A little off topic but I really enjoyed this series.

Living up to its name, the sale has stalled.

tm_nyc got a reaction from NormandyCoast in Who would pay $20 million for a 2-bedroom 204 sq. meter home?'Iconic' is one of the most overused word in the English language but the Stahl House is an icon of the 50's. It is very familiar to people interested in 50's architecture & design. Like the image of Marilyn standing over the subway grate, it's very recognizable.
The huge price tag means the house is being marketed to a handful of very wealthy collectors who are interested in preserving it like a work of art. So, the number of bedrooms or parking spaces are not part of the equation.

tm_nyc reacted to Thefiloboy in Cairo Report (September 2026)I remember seeing people ask about Cairo here, and i’ve finally experienced it for the first time last week. So i thought i’d share my own experience.
For context, i was there for a few days (Saturday night until Wednesday morning) for work. I only had a few nights to explore outside of my scheduled meetings.
I saw somewhere a recommendation of a hammam where some guys were offered hand jobs or more. Since this place was only 20 minutes from my hotel, I went there twice (it also helps that massages are quite cheap in Cairo).
Wary that this is a sensitive topic in Egypt, i’m not going to post here the name of the place, but feel free to DM me if you are visiting soon.
The first time (Sunday night), i was assigned a hot masseur (bald but with facial hair, which i loved, and he looked super masculine), he was wearing a tshirt but i could tell he had a toned bidy, but not that tall (maybe 164cm). He massaged me quite well, and gave special attention to my glutes. I knew he was onto something because he would always ask, ‘Good massage??’ whenever he’d glide his hands through my butt crack. And every time, i’d let out a moan-ish ‘Yeah…’ so he knows i’m also up for it lol. When it was time to turn around, i noticed he kept looking at the print of my hard dick under the towel. When he would massage my upper thighs, he would lift the towel a bit more and glance at it, and would find a way for his arms (not his hands) to very teasingly brush against it. He moved above my head and started massaging my torso and, to my surprise, played with my nipples! At this point i had been giving soft moans to signal i was enjoying and that was more than willing to go wherr he wanted to take the massage lol. It was at this moment, when i was sooo turned on and bricked up, that he said ‘Give me good tip?’, to which i replied ‘For sure!’. He then reached for my dick (which was at this point already had so much pre cum lol), and jerked me off. He moved to my side to get closer to my dick, and jerked my off with one hand while the other played with my nipple. I kept looking at him and was letting out moans, but he took my hand and put it on my dick, kind of telling me to jerk off myself. I didn’t mind since i’m into nipple play and both his hands were playing with my nipples, while i jerked myself off until i came. He then made me take a shower in the en suite bathroom. I gave him a 400EGP tip in the end, and seemed happy to receive it. In total (including that tip), i spent 1200EGP which is like 20€ (talk about bang for your buck!).
The next night (Monday), i went to the same place and tried also getting a Turkish bath to see if there was anything happening in that area. Long story short — nothing happened. But still, it was quite hot to see locals in the steam bath, sauna, and pool. Some of them chatted me up, but i don’t think that kind of thing happens in that place. A twinky guy (who looked 17yo 😭) bathed me and scrubbed me down, but again, nothing happened.
When it was time for my massage, i was led to the massage rooms where a super hot and manly guy was waiting for me. I got super excited because he was very buff, tall, and handsome. Dark skinned, with nice face, and a very nice chunky body. He looked young, too. Unfortunately, though, while the massage was great, he did not show any signs that he wanted to offer a happy ending. I asked him in the end if he wanted a nice tip, but he said ‘Anything you give is enough.’ I tried to push a bit more by fixing my dick under the towel, but he would just look at me and said ‘I hope to see you again, Sir.’ I didn’t push it any further, and just thought the quality of the massage was still worth it. I gave him a 200EGP tip and he seemed happy too.
Also, funnily, i met the owner while waiting for my uber (lol) outside.
On my last night (Tuesday), i had contemplated if i wanted to go for a third time (in a row lol), but in the afternoon, a super hot 27yo athletic local hit me up on Grindr and wanted to meet at night. We ended up spending more than 3 hours together, so i wasn’t able to go anymore. Let me know if you want a rundown of what happened there.
Overall, despite pretty harsh laws and horror stories online, i still found my fair share of gay fun in Cairo. Everything is quite cheap, and the men are just hot. 100% would recommend and would come back.

tm_nyc reacted to FunFifties in Cairo Report (September 2026)Great report @Thefiloboy
I am currently in Egypt, and have just finished three lovely days in Cairo, so I hope it’s ok that I add my observations here instead of starting a new thread. My other destination in Egypt is the Siwa Oasis and with a population of just 25K, I don’t expect much to happen here in terms of gaying around.
Due to a delay, I arrived in Cairo well after midnight. Getting an Uber from the airport is easy and cheap so save yourself the hassle of haggling with any of the drivers that will approach you as you wait at the luggage belt and exit the terminal.
Based on previous posts here about Cairo, I had chosen to book the Marriott in Zamalek as it seems members have found it easy to have guests. I also received a helpful message from a forum member suggesting it could be quite cruisy at the hotel. I had no problems having guests and I actually did score a cruising related hook-up.
Grindr lit up as a Christmas tree as soon as I opened the app. I think as a foreigner I had several things working in my favor. Facepic and distance and to a lesser extent age visible on your settings set you out from most of the other profiles. But in particular, it is the probability that you may host that makes you popular with the local talent.
I received a lot of expiring pics of mostly cocks, bodies and sometimes faces, and it was a bit of a challenge keeping track of so many messages. My solution was to not engage with more than two or three at a time and delete messages or block profiles that I was not interested in pursuing and to only open the app when I had time to engage.
My efforts resulted in 4 hook ups. First was a late twenties semi-chubby young professional. We met for a bite to eat before getting an Uber back to the Marriott. He instructed me what to say in case his presence was questioned by security, but no-one batted an eye lid. Nice sex and pleasant pillow talk.
Second was a late thirties or early forties slim guy who, as it turned out, had actually come all the way from somewhere half way between Alexandria and Cairo just to see me. Before he came and before I knew how far he had come, I had declined his proposal of him spending the whole night, but I still felt a little bad sending him on his way in the middle of the night. The sex was not very interesting to me, neither was the conversation. I met him outside the main gate and he walked in with me.
Third was an early thirties guy who had a business somewhere in the neighborhood and was familiar enough with the Marriott to suggest we meet inside the hotel in the Garden Promenade Cafe. I think that is the least conspicuous way of meeting someone at the Marriott but guys unfamiliar with the place or 5 star hotels in general will probably prefer to walk in with you. Sex and conversation were both good.
Fourth was an early twenties slim guy. I was a little worried that someone so young would seem out of place to security, but again no issues. I met him outside the main gate. He didn’t speak much English, but the sex was very passionate. He was definitely the most memorable experience of the four.
The Marriott has two gates, so if you feel embarrassed walking in with a guy more than once a day, you can switch between gates, but really no one seems to mind. It seems the hotel exists outside the norms that govern Egyptian society. Besides my own escapades, I helped a couple of working ladies in the elevator accessing their desired floor with my key card and I also noticed a similar lady in the Lobby trying to make eye contact with me as I was killing time after check out.
Speaking of killing time after check out. That is when the successful cruising hook up took place. After spending time at the pool I used the spa facilities to freshen up. There is a jacuzzi, a sauna and a steam room besides the showers and the gym. I met a muscular guy a few years older than me. He looked at me and chatted with me, so I was pretty sure something would transpire if I followed him into the steam room. So that's what I did and we had some side fun.
None of the hook ups were transactional. I did ask the youngest if he needed money for a taxi, but he declined. They were all tops as were probably 9 out of ten of guys I communicated with on Grindr.
I may have a little extra to report from Cairo when I return there after Siwa.
Btw, hook ups or no hook ups, the Pyramids and the Grand Egyptian Museum are well worth a visit and I have also enjoyed the city in general.

tm_nyc reacted to jimmie50 in My Cambodian DreamUnless you are very familiar with Cambodia, you are probably wondering where Banteay Meanchey province is located, and why on earth I would be heading there. Well, the province is located about halfway between Siem Reap and the Thai-Cambodian border crossing at Poipet. That is where Cam’s hometown is located. It would seem that Cam’s father had decided this was the time they needed to go to the farm and fertilize the rice fields. Cam’s home is not actually on the farm but located more in the small village or commune. I am somewhat challenged in understanding the difference between village, commune, district, and province. lol. The farm is actually a good 45 minutes to one hour drive from Cam’s house in a very rural, isolated area. We ended up staying at the farm for three nights. There was no cell service and electricity was spotty. It was very rustic and reminded me of when I was in junior high and high school and would go to church camp in the summer or on work missions with the church youth group to Belize in Central America. When you are 13-17 years old, you don’t mind rustic so much and look at it as more of an adventure. However, when you are mid-70’s it contained almost no excitement for me. The only good thing was having Cam there beside me for the ordeal. Cam, his father, and his father’s older brother tended to the rice fields and completed spreading the fertilizer. There is a small ‘building’ at the farm where we stayed. For lack of a better word, I refer to it as a shack, but certainly did not have any of the comforts of home.
As I expected, the fence project did not get completed before my arrival. As a result, once we finished at the farm we went to Cam’s house for the remainder of the first week so that the fence could be finished. Cam’s brother could only help for a few days because he had other work lined up and would need to return home. Since the brother has his own construction business, he had the knowledge and the tools needed to finish the fence. This is why it became necessary for us to spend several days on the front end of my trip at Cam’s house with the family. I was well aware of the fact that internet connection at his home is not always the greatest or reliable. Something we have been dealing with since we both returned home. In addition to that, electricity is very expensive in Cambodia. Since we were at his parents house for several days, in addition to feeling like it would be very rude to spend time on my computer when his family was going out of their way to make sure I felt welcomed, I also did not want to ‘plug in’ too many devices. I did charge my cell phone as needed and my watch every night. Consequently, I have not been online to make any posts until now.

tm_nyc reacted to mauRICE in Chiang Mai Off Season September 2026 UpdatesI first visited in 2001. I had just graduated that summer and was having a nice long holiday before going back to start my pupillage in the fall. Soi Wat Umong was just a sleepy soi back then as was much of the Suthep area. Nimmanhemin had one or two cafes and the famous Amari Hotel; my favourite was this little cafe that specialised in banana pancakes which was staffed by ex Suan Prung patients to help them reintegrate into society. The owner was a lovely lady who was an ex-patient herself and a native of the area.
The legendary Joe Cummings, who wrote the brilliant earlier editions of the Lonely Planet Thailand guides (it's crap now IMHO), lived in Soi Wat Umong. Back then I only had my wits, Lonely Planet, the Thai friends I made along the way and fledgling Thai skills to guide me. Of course the fact that had I grown up so close to then very porous Thai border gave me an advantage but mostly I discovered things through trial, error and experience which has put me in good stead because I learned Thai ways from the inside out.
The recently maligned Adam's Apple was already open in 2001, as was My Way and Coffee Boy which was on the east side of town on Tung Hotel Road, near the Chiang Mai Arcade bus terminal. Coffee Boy was a one-of-a-kind; it was in an old teak house on stilts and customers sat on the floor in front of a small stage where the boys performed. It had a guest house on premise. I remember one kindly farang kept wanting to buy me drinks thinking I was one of the boys until the mamasan had to step in. 😅 Coffee Boy remains in my memory as probably the most gentle and polite commercial bars that I've ever been to.
Back then it was still safe to ride around town on my bicycle which I gave to a close Thai friend on the day I left. I remember crying on that day but glad to say that we're still best friends 25 years later.

The one above was, obviously, touched-up as a publicity photo.
Some more natural ones of him below

And the one below is actually my favourite, because it captures him as he really is, and that smile of his. The one below from Space's FB, which Vinapu has posted on here before. Smey is in the front row on the right corner in the red singlet. On the far left, in the white singlet, is Vong (Monivong), Smey's wingman. Vong also took part in the contest, but did not place in the finals and I doubt that it was him you were talking about. Vong's English isn't great. Smey is fluent.

From there, we traveled to Vancouver whored around a little there, lot's of hot Asians then boarded the first of two cruises (which we're still on) taking us down the California coast and into Mexico.
We’ll be home at the end of the month, and once I recover from the vacation, I’ll catch up on everything that’s been going on here. 😂

SIEM REAP
Bars
G*D (Gays on Display) no longer has go go boy shows. I have no idea when they stopped them but now it is drag, drag and more drag, which is a bloody drag. The only redeeming feature of this bar at the moment is the prominent FUCK ISRAEL graffiti on the ceiling. The bar was largely quiet during my time there. Not that I really care.
Barcode had sizeable crowds practically every night. Again, forget about the occasional boy shows that it used to have. It was drag, drag and yet more drag. Needless to say, I found it a fucking drag – but I’ll say it anyway because it deserves to be said. The highlight of these shows was when I said to one of the waiters, “too many ladyboys”. His sympathetic response? “Yes! No girls :(( ! “ That wasn’t entirely true, though. There were quite a few bloody fat girls in the bar on some nights – fag hags, the lot of them. Still, it’s a decent place to go, even if the crowd is shit. I have my favourite waiters there.
I didn’t bother with BBall and Rendezvous
Massages
The Sovan Man Massage which was a stone’s throw away from Rambutan closed down, seemingly somewhere in early or mid-August; and the shop is now for rent and they are no longer responding on Telegram. That’s a shame because it had some rather nice guys. That comes on the back of the Man 168 Massage closing more than a year ago, which I consider a real loss because it had precisely the kind of guys I like. Their Man 168 Facebook page has recently come back to life, but that is being operated by just one former worker, offering his own services. That leaves Sanmai Massage as the only full-on man for man massage shop in Siem Reap, as far as I am aware. Sanmai, however, is populated by gay masseurs in whom I have no interest.
The massage shops on 2 Thnou Street do have male masseurs, but they are usually hidden in a backroom somewhere, presumably to avoid scaring away the sort of regular customers that those shops attract. Ask, if you want a male masseur. What you may actually get really depends on the masseur, though - some will offer a little more, some won't. Don’t go with expectations of anything more than a massage and you won’t be disappointed. They are, after all, officially and largely, legitimate massage places.
Cham Nan Temple Massage: “I am an Izz-ray-lee and I am the worst!” the bloody disgusting old thing declared as I walked into the shop. “And right now I am enjoying with my new boy!” He had heard me request a male masseur and probably thought I was going to engage with him as a fellow conspirator. I glanced at his masseur, and it was, indeed, a very unattractive femboy/ladyboy who was massaging him. I ignored the disgusting old bastard.
“Where are you from?” asked the disgusting old “Izz-ray-lee”. I ignored him and carried-on with booking my massage. “What? You don’t speak English?” he demanded in an irritated tone. I shrugged and ignored him. He made some filthy, frustrated noise in his disgusting pseudo-native language, upset that I would not engage with him; but I was there for a massage, not to have a chat with some old pervert tainted by association with genocide.
Cham Nan Temple Massage is smack in the centre of town and it is a very decent place to go if you are looking for a real massage and can’t decide which of the myriad shops in central Siem Real to choose. It is clean, central, and nicely done; and I prefer it to the ones on 2 Thnou Street. They currently have only two male masseurs: a younger, golden-skinned guy named Virek, who is the owner’s son; and an older, more built guy in his early 40s named Piset. I can vouch for the quality of Piset’s massage. Both of them speak good English. I had asked Piset how many guys they currently have and he said “two…maybe three boys…but that one not really. That one…”, he trailed off, looking in the direction of the femboy.
As I exited the shop, the disgusting old “Izz-ray-lee” was sitting outside, surrounded by the female masseurs. “How was the massage?”, he asked with a leer on his face. I ignored him and walked off. He swore at me. Good. Fuck him and fuck “Israel”. Chamnan is near the Starbucks.
Note that in addition to working at the shop, Virek drives a remorque and is available for the monument tours etc. That is an option to consider if you would like a young, pleasant, pleasant-looking, English-speaking driver for the day.
Dining
Khmer Taste remains my favourite local cuisine place in the city. Inevitably, I return to it after trying others. The food here is authentically Khmer, my local friends assure me; and here you will find locals dining alongside the tourists. Prices are low and the food is good. The waitresses aren’t particularly smiley, but service is good and the girls will chat if you engage with them. Khmer Taste lies just a little bit outside the core tourist zone around Pub Street, but it is easily walkable from there. If you aren’t familiar with the location, just take a Grab there the first time you go. You should have no trouble finding it on foot the next time.
Attractions
Siem Reap has recently added yet another tourist attraction: some big monument or theme park called "Angkor Wat", which is, apparently, a great place to go and take selfies. You may want to visit it while there.
Separately, Kbal Spean was at the most beautiful that I have ever seen it on this trip. It is now the rainy season, which locals often call the Green Season, and the hills were wonderfully lush. However it has rained less than it usually does at this time of the year, which means that while there is abundant water flowing over the lingas in the river, the river is not so swollen that the carvings are hidden. You can see it at its best right now – the way it is meant to be seen. It just reminded me of why I love that place so much. While Kbal Spean is a little bit further out, it is always worth the trip.
PHNOM PENH
Rambutan Resort
The old order changeth, yielding place to new…
The long-running and much-loved Rambutan Resort in PP is no more. It is now the Sonitori Boutique Hotel. The Dutchman sold it to a Jap about four months ago and the new owner has spared no time in ruining it. Gone is the lush greenery around the pool that delighted the eye; gone is the canopy of vines above the pool that shielded you from prying eyes; the pool itself is now full of big floats to encourage family fun. No more in-house massage option either. Gone also is the old manager who knew exactly what the Rambutan’s patrons wanted; and in are several new female front office staff. Fortunately, many of the old staff remain and will welcome you back warmly if you are an old guest. Apparently, it was sold for just $50k, as the Dutchman wanted to get rid of it and focus on the Rambutan in Siem Reap – but that only included the business and building. The land is leased from a local. Still. $50k is bloody cheap and had I known it was for sale at that price, I would gladly have taken it
In years past, it was balls of an entirely different type that were played with in that pool.
On the plus side, the new owner has been slow in setting things up online – the hotel still uses a gmail address and Tripadvisor only provides booking options through Agoda. One consequence of that currently low visibility, coupled with low season prices is that rooms at Sonitori now cost practically nothing , especially when you consider the excellent made to order breakfast that they still provide. I paid $25 per night for my room; and they can’t possibly be making money at that rate. Homos who are fond of the old Rambutan should perhaps launch a coordinated, low-cost invasion to keep it queer-ish.
The pancakes at Rambutan PP continue to be much better than those at Rambutan Siem Reap.
Bars
Space Hair Bar: Space has lost its lustre for me. Long-time star and all-time favourite, Smey (ReakSmey). has left the bar. Smey’s acting and modelling career has finally reached the level of success that I always wished for him. He is earning well now and has neither the time nor inclination to sit around being groped by strangers till 6 a.m. every night. Boys came and went in that bar, but Smey stayed for ages and only became more handsome as he matured – he was already 30-ish when he won second runner-up in Mr Cambodia. Smey was also sort of ringleader in that bar. Without him there to egg the boys on, the place is now much more subdued and holds much less attraction for me.
The number and quality of the boys there at the moment also doesn’t quite stack-up with previous years. Nonetheless, I opened my wallet generously as it is low season, the bar nearly bereft of customers on weekdays and some of those boys there are “friends”. On that note, Pahlin (Polin) is still there and was talking about opening an equivalent bar in Siem Reap, as he notes that there is a dearth of muscle bars in Siem Reap. My complaints about the number of drag shows simply confirmed his belief that a Space-style bar in Siem Reap would work, but he is still going to have to find the money for it. Pahlin is an intelligent fellow - he was formerly a property agent – and anyone looking to pursue that opportunity may want to drop by space and speak to him.
AsianCam: The AsianCam bar has moved from Street 222 to Street 224 into larger, nicer, digs. I mention that here because Grab had not updated the address as of the week before, sending people to the wrong place. Gone are all the macho boys who were working there last year. All femboys now, bar a single, new straight boy who began work there recently.
Toolbox was as boring as ever since moving to its current/”new” location. Being in that place feels rather like being entombed with a bunch of old queens. Not much going-on there on weekdays, unless you want to drink with the regular crowd whose arses appear to be glued to their seats.
Dining
The service at La Croisette is now officially shit, which is a shame as nostalgia occasionally takes me back there. La Croisette has been around since the 90s. The food is decent but not amazing and the view from the top floor terrace over the quay and river is no longer the best offered by any restaurant in the city. Still, it’s not a bad place for a date and there is a good ice cream parlour downstairs. Service is shit, though.
Half the food stalls in the PP Night Market were closed. Rainy evenings and the lack of tourists at this time of year mean that there probably isn't enough business for all of them to stay open. Still, I enjoy eating there sitting on the mats and talking to the boys who work in the market. They have more time to chat in the low season than they do when the market is packed.
Fans of the durian may also want to take note that the rainy season is a bad time to taste that fruit in Cambodia. Too much water makes the fruit that ripens in the rainy season rather tasteless. Don't waste your money and torture your taste buds with watery durians at this time of year. They are best eaten before the rains start.
