We haven't figured out yet if the 300 Baht minimum is set by 7/11 or phone company. Good idea, I will try family mart or elsewhere other than 7/11 to find out. I use Line for voice or video chat, in video often poor quality, voice is ok most of the time. Line is awful when it comes to back-up, I lost my entire chat history several times after logging out accidentally and logging in again (Line recognized the same phone as new device and there was no other choice than log in and lose all chat history). I have heard Whatsapp is much better, but have no personal experience.

Thanks for your report, especially Pattaya bars, will help me next time I go. At the same spot, two years ago, at night, I almost got attacked by a dog. It was preparing to jump at me, only imaginary stone throwing kept it at a distance. I wonder if it's the same dog, and if it attacks Thai as well. Details here: http://christianpfc.blogspot.com/2014/03/pattaya-10-12032014.html A friend recently got bitten, and for me it's only a question of time, hence I'm interested in details. Did the dog jump at you or bite your leg, and did it let go after one bite or did you defend yourself?

I vaguely remember Fan Club closing being discussed on the boards, the reason was they wouldn't put up with harassment and money requests by police any more. Did Adonis give any reason?

Reading a few trip reports should answer most of your questions and give you some more ideas. (Polite way to say: some of your questions have been discussed ad nauseam and others can't be answered without more detailed input.)

The change was after we met. Recently, in Walking Street Pattaya, the same, cashier told me 100 Baht slips are sold out (scratch card can sell out, but the slip is generated at moment of transaction, I assume), so I took 100 Baht scratch card. For me no problem topping up three times a month 100 Baht or once per month 300 Baht. There are machines where you pay with coins, I guess they allow top up less than 50 Baht. Of course at the 7/11 counter you will not get "(7/11 or AIS) changed their system for mobile phone top-up by slip to a minimum amount of 300 Baht per transaction" from staff, but "finished", "sold out", "system error" or similar and draw your conclusions.

To avoid confusion: your first two paragraphs refer to Singapore? For young Caucasian backpackers, go to Khao San. However they are not in underwear like the Thai boys in gogo bars. But southern Thailand beaches should provide that (from internet, I haven't been to a southern beach for long time)

Probably serious. I had several boys who borrowed clothes and did not return them. One asked if he can have a cookie, but he didn't mean a single cookie, he wanted to take the whole bag home.

I nursed one drink for almost 3 hours, but I didn't take any valuable space up in the bar, it was not that people were queuing to get in. At those prices, I could run a marathon in the Sahara on one drink. Hoewever you are right, the total amount Screw boys 300 + 500 + 1500 = 2300 or Soi Twilight 400 + 600 + 1500 = 2500 is not that different. At those prices, I have a one bar (and one drink-see top) per evening policy, whereas in Pattaya I might go to several bars. More choice of boys would have aggravated my indecisiveness. After that positive experience, I might even go to Soi Twilight (haggling over drink price is not my style, but at such outrageous prices it's appropriate. I wonder if off-fee is negotiable as well?) some day.

1moRussian: The 300 Baht was in Ubon Ratchathani, Sri Saket and Bangkok. Gaybutton: that was my personal experience in 4 branches, as describes in my previous post.

I was not aware that first drink is 450 and subsequent 400 in Dream Boys, thanks. Went to Screw Boys yesterday (Thursday 17.03.2016) and stayed 19:55-22:45 (due to indecisiveness if and which boy to take). Drink price 300 Baht. Over 20 boys, good choice. Total 10 to 15 customers during my stay. Off fee 500, short time tip recommended 1500. Was happy with the boy I took. There we have the discrepancy: cheapest hi-so gogo bar (to separate Soi Twilight, Jupiter, Tawan and Screw Boys from Silom Soi 6 bars and Be-High in Saphan Kwai which are cheaper, but have poor selection), good choice of boys, but low number of customers whereas Dream Boys seems to be quite full according to reports (haven't been for years and will not while current price policy last).

Thanks for your reports. Unnecessary (the tip to mamasan). I tip only one person, in that case it would be the boy. There are indeed buses that run all night, but at low frequency, can cause long waiting time. At night, taxi is the only sensible choice. As far as I know, the boys all live nearby their workplace, even the furthest away I know (Suan Phlu) is just 30 minutes walk from Surawong.

On your way from where? Stay away from Silom for a chance of not getting wet. Beside getting wet, there will be long queues at MRT/BTS, no taxis available at all or inflated prices, queues to get into venues (in 2013 I had to wait with many others to get into Babylon sauna), I recommend going only walking distance, and even that can take when there is pedestrian traffic jam!

Thanks for the report. The drink price in Dream Boys is 450 Baht?

You can transfer balance or validity between SIM cards of the same operator. For AIS, it costs 3 Baht per transaction and you can transfer up to 20 days. Find someone who lives here and has more validity than he needs, and have him transfer excess validity to your phone. It seems 7/11 recently changed their system for top up by slip. Last week, in several branches, first they told me the system has a failure, but finally I learnt the minimum amount for top up is now 300 Baht. (AIS, I always use slip, don't like the scratch cards.)

A visit to the In laws - Applies equally to your Isaan boyfriend
ChristianPFC replied to traveller123's topic in Gay Thailand
An interesting piece. You should put the link and quote on top, lest a superficial reader thinks you wrote it. I wonder how they can have such a low standard of proofreading on a professional website. The word they were looking for is peddler (variant spelling pedlar). Since mid-2014, there is an alcohol ban on trains which is observed. Furthermore, passengers don't ride on the locomotive. -
The centers of the major tourist places (Pattaya, Patong in Phuket, Kuta in Bali) look indistinguishable to me. For gay entertainment, Phuket and Chiang Mai are similar, but Pattaya has much more to offer. For sightseeing, all three are comparable. For beach, Phuket better than Pattaya and Chiang Mai out of question. But if you like going to the beach, get up to date information about current situation sunbeds / umbrellas / catering to avoid disappointment. If going to Phuket, consider staying one night in Patong (for easy access to gay nightlife) and one night in Phuket town (for sighseeing in Phuket town and easier access to airport, and as hub for public bus if you plan going for sightseeing by bus). If I go to Phuket again, I have plan to stay in Phuket town for sightseeing, than take last bus (around 6 pm?) to Patong, stay there for gay nightlife, and the following morning take bus to Phuket town for sightseeing and stay there again, with first and last day in Phuket town (better for public transport).

I have dabbled a few times, details here: http://sawatdeenetwork.com/forum/post292333.html I have something going (will be for pay) at the moment, and went to a sex party (free) that turned out to be lame two weeks ago. Hornet has colored circles on profiles: green currently online, orange has been online recently (?), no circle hasn't been online for a while. But gayromeo which gives dates is much better in this aspect. In the provinces, I find many more boys on hornet than on gayromeo. (I am currently using gayromeo and hornet, cannot judge about the others. Although only one picture on grindr doesn't sound promising.)

Thank you, paulsf, for your reply. Regarding second chances, I do give second chances. If a boy performs mediocre on first encounter, but I see potential, I might take him again. (Have no statistic analysis over performance on second encounter.) It has been a while (2014?) that I took a boy out of a bar in Soi Twilight. Given the recently raised drink prices, I have to check if the maximum I'm prepared to pay (1500 Baht) is still in the range of expected tip.

Upon re-reading the posts, the op abidismaili is not clear on tourist visa (which will cost him in the range of 30 Euro per entry, even if it's just 2 hours) or visa exempt entry (free). Furthermore, he speaks of customs when he means immigration. abidismaili, you should specify the length(s) of time you want to stay in Thailand so others can advise which visa (or visa exempt) suits you best.

I had a few cases where I had to negotiate the opening angle of the door with the boy before we could get to business.
-
I recommend you have a backup plan. It would surprise me if both boys were there at the time of your booking.
-
And how did you deal with that? And excuse my curiosity, how much do the boys ask for and how much do you tip?
-
And let's not forget massage places in Silom and Sukhumvit are used to Farang customers and someone will speak English. Whereas in further away, there might be nobody who speaks English and taxi driver might not know where exactly it is. With BTS/MRT/ARL and Saen Saep Canal Boat you can bypass traffic jams, but you need experience. With bus at least the meter is not ticking while you are in traffic jam.

There are openly operating gay saunas, however they work on a membership basis, I had to apply for membership first before I could enter (took only a few minutes but costs membership fee in addition to entry fee). That place had promising looking boys, but music and flashing lights were horrible, I won't be back (details on my blog), the most expensive and least enjoyable sauna experience. That 2 h will cost about 30 Euro (or whatever the Thai embassy in your home country charges per entry for a tourist visa), or extension 1900 Baht (?), all quite expensive. I don't know if it's possible to request a visa exempt entry (free) when you hold a valid visa. Would save you 30 Euro / 1900 Baht or in that range.
