I had a friend arrive last night. he, got to Silom by the train services (airport train and BTS).
Another friend drove from Jomtien to Silom -- 6 hours.

As reported elsewhere, last night, apart from usual traffic chaos at Suvarnabhumi, easy journey, 30 mins to Le Meridien, Surawong. Patpong dry at 11.30.pm, deserted. Not raining currently.

  • Rainy season is no joke in Bangkok… yes, it really is. Upon landing at DMK in the evening, I was actually a bit lost about where I should go first. It was raining heavily outside. Taking a GrabCar str

  • On the second day, there wasn’t much activity planned. I just lazily stayed in my room without doing anything. After breakfast, I went to the hotel’s communal space to get some of my office work done.

Did you go to Silom Soi 4? I saw footage of mild flooding in and around Banana Room at about 9 PM Thai time.

All quiet on the orgy front, i'm afraid, hotel very quiet! Just going to bed at 1.30, not used to being up so late!

No, stayed enjoying my fried rice with pork at famous 7 star establishment. Patpong dry, ditto Surawong.

I'm still waiting to board my Thai Airway flight...originally scheduled at 1225, it was pushed back to 1430 then 1620...i just received a new update that it's been pushed back further to 1720. Not a great start 😅

SQ and Scoot are all departing on time tho, so dunno what's going on with Thai...

Arrived, eventually, 30 mins ago. Car took 20 mins to fight through congestion! Not currently raining!

PS. Electronic gates great. No line, worked like a charm, 2 mins!!

Did u take Grab or Bolt? How much was the fare?

😮 I nearly had a heart attack reading this. His Lordship doesn't do e-hailing. The hotel limousine picked him up.

Are you flying from Singapore? My guess is the delay with Thai Airways is caused by the flight originating from Bangkok whereas SIA and Scoot are departing from Singapore as its point of origin. There's bound to be some hiccups at Suwannaphum (for eg with catering services, maintenance, etc) with the floods.

Safe flight and enjoy your trip to Bangkok!

Oops, I'm sorry.

Yup, the plane just pulled in about 30 minutes ago. Now it's still being cleaned. Everyone waiting at the gate looks very unhappy haha

Hotel car, I'm afraid. Grateful, as hotel emailed me in Siem Reap to tell me my flight cancelled! Bangkok Airways did not, and I would have gone to airport 1 hour away to find no flight. Neither did they rebook, till I rang! My Bangkok Airways app said flight on time!

Oh dear. I'm sorry to hear this. Are you still at the airport? I hope you'll get your luggage soon and be able to go to your hotel and get some rest. It sounds like you've had a very long day.

Hope his luggage arrived. 2 hrs or more by carousel is awful, apart from the worry, there is usually no seating. Dreadful day.

Yup still at airport. Been 3 hours, no news or updates from the ground staff. Was given a QR to scan for luggage delivery but when I asked if they will be delivering the luggage, the person told me they don't know cos too many reports now 😅

Whats e-hailing? To my surprise, my peerage hasn't arrived yet. I must speak to Lord(!) Mandelson.

I'm really sorry to hear this. I hope something is resolved. I always travel with hand luggage these days, to avoid this issue. Its surprising how little you really need, and if you are on a scheduled airline, you can take quote a lot. Its not raining now, and hasn't been all day, apart from a few heavy showers so weather can't be blamed!

I am here till Wednesday evening if you fancy a drink!

you not alone. When they started charging extra for a luggage I discovered joys of travelling lightly immediately.

Specially to countries where most things can be purchased locally and even cheaper than in our own

I'm very sorry to hear this. Can't you check in to your hotel and sort your luggage out tomorrow? I think there's been a breakdown in the system as a result of baggage handlers and other airport staff not showing up for work due to the floods.

Maybe not in Surawong but other areas in Bangkok are still inundated. The Thai government has just declared Monday 28 September and Tuesday 29 September 2026 special holidays for civil servants in Bangkok and three surrounding provinces to help ease congestion on public services. I imagine critical services will operate as usual.

In my 5 star hotel in Siem Reap, to launder a pair of socks was UU$0.50!

Unlike in NY where its cheaper to buy a new shirt, than to launder one

I'm in the queue to file a report on my delayed luggage. It's horrendously long 😅

Everyone queueing up for it now. The Thai flights after mine from Singapore were luckier. They got their luggage pretty fast while mine is stuck somewhere in limbo haha

Yes, but that shouldn't affect taking luggage from a plane, at the terminal, to the baggage area! There may be fewer staff, but a lot of this is automated anyway. As Foolish has said, other flights' luggage was delivered quickly. to be fair T 5 at London has a history of late delivery, but nothing as bad as this. And poor Foolish already hadbthevdelayed flight!

Due to the flooding in Bangkok the staff that would normally handle the luggage at the airport are not able to get to the airport hence the several hour delays in getting your luggage.

Thanks. Malfunctioning baggage carts?
