Private intelligence contractors make a lot of money. They are hidden quietly but have this extricate network that connects them to buyers. The hidden side of technological advancement has its dark side. Should we not use phones, emails and computers to protect ourselves... I think in the US it's not being used by the government per se for alleged purposes but there could intelligence contractors that would do it for individuals and private entities. Now doing anonymously without being caught will be a challenge too. http://m.yahoo.com/w/legobpengine/finance/news/powerful-spy-software-being-abused-200131578.html?.intl=us&.lang=en-us

I think he is right that more women's participation will bring prosperity to the American economy. But I also think stay home moms are contributing to the economy too in a different way. Rhode Island became the tenth state in the nation to legalize same-sex marriage after the state legislature approved the measure on Thursday. Gov. Lincoln Chafee is expected to sign the bill at 5:45 p.m. ET. Last week both the Rhode Island House and Senate approved by large margins measures allowing same-sex couples to wed, but more votes were required after the legislation was tweaked. The law will go into effect August 1. Iowa, New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maine, Maryland, Washington and the District of Columbia allow same-sex marriage. Their combined populations, based on U.S. Census estimates for 2012, represent 15.8% of the U.S. p…

Judge exposes Texas strip clubs’ lack of cover by ordering larger underwear Tim Walker The Independent Wednesday 01 May 2013 In a cheeky ruling, which positively bulges with double entendres and dirty literary jokes, a Texas judge has ordered strip club dancers in San Antonio to don larger underwear. Chief US District Judge Fred Biery delivered the formal written ruling on Monday: “The Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Bikini Top v The (More) Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Pastie” demands the city’s strip joints adhere to a new regulation, requiring dancers to wear bikini tops instead of the miniscule, nipple-obscuring “pasties” previously favoured. “An ordinance dealing with sem…

By Connie Ogle cogle@MiamiHerald.com4/18/2013 In the sobering drama Disconnect, technology is one of the culprits that separate people from each other — but not the only one. The film is too thoughtful to be so one-dimensional, and so it also examines the myriad ways in which we manage to lose track of what’s important to us — through too much face time with our computers and tablets and cellphones, yes, but also through ambition, carelessness, habit and grief. The film links three thematically related stories in which some of the characters intersect briefly. In one, a busy workaholic lawyer named Rich (Jason Bateman, excellent in a rare serious role) is estranged from…

Amazing footage this morning on most news channels of an Air France Airbus A380 clipping the tail of a Commair Delta connection commuter aircraft last night at JFK. The commuter jet violently spins round some 40-degrees. The A380 with 520 on board was taxiing prior to take-off when it clipped the Comair jet which had just landed from Boston with 64 passengers and crew. No-one was injured but both jets suffered damage. One of CNN

...why not? For Wallace Stevens, Hartford as Muse Andrew Sullivan for The New York Times Westerly Terrace, the street where Stevens lived. More Photos » By JEFF GORDINIER Published: February 23, 2012 IN those rare moments when Hartford leaps to mind, I’m guessing that your head does not then turn to watermelon pavilions, a man with a blue guitar, an old sailor catching tigers in red weather or an emperor of ice cream. Multimedia Slide Show Literary Hartford In Transit: Making Sense of Wallace Stevens (With Help From Some Experts) A lot of us think of Connecticut’s capital as a generic New England way station between Boston and New York. A decent place to st…

Ex-lawmakers search for signs of intelligent life in WashingtonBy Chris Moody, Yahoo! News | The Ticket – 15 hrs ago (ABC Photo Archives/Getty Images) All the pieces of a formal congressional hearing were in place. I had many chances to marry a woman but I didn't. Not because I'm noble or morally better but because it won't make sense to marry someone who I don't love unless I have mutual interests for doing so. I feel sorry for this guy and his conflict in God. I hope he can be more open minded and free himself from his bias. Bias and prejudice somehow give stability to society but too much of them makes society rigid and inflexible. There must be someway of achieving both stability and flexibility via religion in our society is something people should do. Gay Christians should not be shamed of themselves because of they do they are shaming the creator who brought them into existen…

I think not only making new antibiotics is important to fight these superbugs but also promoting healthy sex practices is important. Just as moderate drinking is good for health, I think moderate sex is good. Applying common sense will be useful and beneficial. As for sex workers, some sex workers do take good care of their body but some don't. Providing an environment for them to protect themselves will be good for everyone in the industry. http://www.cnbc.com/id/100685883?__source=yahoo%7Cfinance%7Cheadline%7Cheadline%7Cstory&par=yahoo&doc=100685883%7CSex%20Superbug%20Could%20Be%20%27Wo
