By ABC News Mar 6, 2013 8:57am Valerie Harper, the actress best known for playing Rhoda Morgenstern on “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” and her own spinoff, “Rhoda,” has been diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. Harper, 73, received the diagnosis on Jan. 15, just days before she appeared on “Good Morning America” and described the stroke-like symptoms that sent her to the hospital. “It was if I had Novocain,” Harper said in the live interview Jan. 21. “I thought what the heck is happening to me?” “I went to the hospital and they couldn’t find much of anything. Now I’m still awaiting test results,” she said at the time, also adding, “I’m feeling great.” Harper tells Peo…

http://www.nbc.com/saturday-night-live/video/snl-promo-justin-timberlake/n33549 Justin Timberlake teams up with "Saturday Night Live" cast member Kenan Thompsonto plug his return as host for this weekend's show, in these newly released promos from NBC. The series of short promos include multiple Timberlakes, a reference to his current hit single "Suit and Tie" and the worst mangling of the show's name ever ("Friday Night Pie"?!). This will be Timberlake's fifth time as "Saturday Night Live" host and third time doing double duty as both host and musical guest. He's won two Emmys for hosting the show and another two for writing original songs, so the pressure is on for a…

This is an example of freerunning - the athleticism is just amazing to me, and there's not many settings that allow for a spectacle like an airplane graveyard, and tossing in 40 or so freerunners makes for quite an epic short film.

Bee Venom Kills HIV: Nanoparticles Carrying Toxin Shown To Destroy Human Immunodeficiency Virus The Huffington Post | By Cavan Sieczkowski Posted: 03/09/2013 12:02 pm EST | Updated: 03/09/2013 12:08 pm EST A new study has shown that bee venom can kill the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). Researchers at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis have demonstrated that a toxin called melittin found in bee venom can destroy HIV by poking holes in the envelope surrounding the virus, according to a news release sent out by Washington University. (Visit Washington University's website to read more about the study.) Nanoparticles smaller than…

Intrigued by news that the late Chavez is to become the latest Politico Under Glass, I looked around and found this account of how Lenin's mummy is given an annual preservative bath. (Apparently not a wax substitute after all, despite that time the Moscow sewers overflowed into his tomb.) Bathing of Lenin You can see Vladimir Lenin's embalmed skin sack being taken from its exhibit case at the Lenin Mausoleum in Moscow and given its yearly bath in a soup of formaldehyde, methanol and ethanol. Video: Download "lenin.wmv" Vladimir Ilyich Lenin (Vladimir Ilyich Ulyanov) was a Russian revolutionary, a communist politician, the main leader of the Octob…

WTF! It’s as though 9/11 never happened. On that day, it will be recalled, terrorists used box cutters to gain control of planes and murder almost 3,000 Americans. Now, in what must be one of its most bizarre and ridiculous decisions, the US Transportation Safety Agency – the one responsible for SAFETY in the air – has ruled that “small pocket knives” can once again be carried on flights in the US. The reason? No risk? Well, the limits are that a blade can be no longer that 2.38” (6 cms) and no more than 1/2“ at its widest point. Now, isn’t that comforting! In other words, plenty of blade to sever a carotid artery in one swipe. The TSA chief disagrees. …

Watched the movie “Flight” last night. It’s had pretty mixed reviews. Mine is no recommendation. Denzel Washington gives a fine performance – but Oscar material? I didn’t think so. And how on earth the original script got nominated, totally beats me. Apparently it took the screenwriter 12 years to finish it. A 12-year old could have done better! Without giving too much of the game away, the story is about an airline captain with problems (Washington) and the aircraft he is piloting on a short US domestic flight. Something goes wrong and the aircraft descends in an uncontrollable dive. Lots of realistic action. Washington decides on a highly unusual manoeuvre to get the p…

When is it justified to hold up a flight for the sake of one person? Here are some interesting stories. Quote (from PlanetRomeo) Hey Romeos, Tough news. We received a call from Apple on Friday afternoon. As you may know, they don't allow sexually explicit images in apps for iPhone and iPad. We've always complied by blocking pictures rated XXX from appearing in app profiles, but apparently that's not enough for them. Surprisingly they now say they aren't willing to accept even soft core pictures, and if all nudity is not scrubbed from our app in the next 48 hours it will be taken down. You guys are just too sexy for the censors of Silicon Valley! As a result we immediately also had to block soft core pictures from appearing on the Apple iOS app. This is frustrating, but …

The latest novelty song which is the #1 song in the country is driving me nuts. Please someone make it stop. "Gangnam Style" was bad enough. Now we have to put up with the "Harlem Shake". But I guess if I have to watch and listen to it, it might as well be with a bunch of male strippers from Share Nightclub in Las Vegas. This was filmed by friend Yony.
